She says it looks very weird on her unless she covers her lips with concealer first to block out her natural lip color.
Maybe she used the lip eraser.

"Modern gorgeous" is the best way to describe it! It's red, but it's unique at the same time.

As for MAC nail polishes, some are definitely better than others, but the overall quality has been going up the past couple of years. MAC is particularly good at unusual neutrals, but sometimes they're intentionally rather sheer and I think that hangs some people up. I don't have tons of MAC polish, but some of my all time favorites and most used bottles are MAC all the way - the blue Gareth Pugh, Breezy Blue (I'm on ration with that one, I've only got half a bottle left), Sweet Pop from All About Orange, In the Buff from To the Beach (also on ration), Triumphant from Strength..there are others. I didn't see the neutral Proenza polish, but that red one behaves perfectly, a real dream to apply…I've gone on about it already, although I probably am going to skip it, since I've already got an Orly red that's quite close on me that'll work with Mangrove like a charm.

In further polish news, MAC is doing a complete polish reformulation coming up, dropping the price (I was told to $10 a bottle, which is just

) and a brand new style of brush that's rounded all around the edge to really get a perfect curved line around the cuticle. I don't know the colors, but there are A LOT. I guess MAC is serious about moving past their polish reputation this time, as the price drop indicates, loud and clear. Nothing says "give us your business" quite like that. Although I'm sure it'll creep up over the years just like everything.
I totally agree on the intentionally sheer nudes. CR's Undercover n/p looks gorgeous using just one layer. By no means it is opaque, but I wouldn't want it to be opaque. It looks so modern as it is on the sheerer side.

I got my Mangrove few days ago- posted pics here and yesterday had to try :)
On my lips it's more red with pink undertone.

I love MACs frost polishes. Soiree is one of my fav colors of all time. I even have two bottles of it. Man that lippy looks gorg! But going to be good and stick to my skip.

I'm NC15 too, and normally shy away from reds since I haven't found a shade that really suits me yet. Do you think Mangrove might work on me? I have Ronnie red, which I never wear since it goes very fuschia-toned on me, which is not a flattering shade. I am wondering if a more pink, orangey red like Mangrove might work better.
I like Ronnie Red but it goes a little pink if I don't keep it touched up.

Mangrove looks much more like a straight warm red on me. 'Not sure if it will go orange or coral as the day goes by. It doesn't go orange when I blot it down, though, and Ronnie Red goes pink when I blot, so maybe that indicates the general behavior.

Can you get to a store? That's your best bet, especially since these are more expensive.
I am hoping for something between MAC Red and Scarlet Ibis, but smoother than either. Either way, its coming home to mama.

Wow, this does look very pretty. I was not even considering it before.

Mangrove is so pigmented, it's pretty hard to blot down much. You put it on and it's staying on the way it is. When you try it in store, try blotting it right there to see if you like what happens. You might not be able to get a light stain when you blot.

I'm not used to many people's insistence on full coverage in nail polish. Sheer is really nice and catches the eye subtly. Ke Ai, from All About Orange, is so feminine and pretty. Also Sandpiper, which gives me a perfect, skin tone matching look.

It applied very very smoothly for a dark color like this that's on the sheerer side. It's one of the better lustres, but it isn't buildable to fully opaque.

For the sake of my sanity I'm trying to pick just the one peach blush. lol the pink one looks nice but the shades are not that unique. I was hoping for a peach to pink ombre actually.
