I really like Deeply Adored, well, considering it's a red :p But rather than buy a BU, i think i'm going to try to franken my own.

I have a red lipstick that is supposed to be "true" red, neither too blue or too orange (not MAC), but it was too bright for me - bright reds and oranges wash me out. I got an OCC black lip tar, i just ordered an OCC green lip tar, and i own Butch, the OCC periwinkle lip tar. With judicious mixing, the green will neutralize the red, the black will make it darker, and the blue will make it lean blue. Hmmm, i think i need to hit an art store for a fine paint spatula...

No I haven't. I don't think I've ever even seen them. Are they just flat little plastic spatulas? I keep a supply of those on hand for paint pots, but they come from a beauty supply store not MAC. I assume you scrape product off and then apply? Thanks for the suggestion. My only other thought was use my fingers to apply directly from the pan, but as a germ averse person, I would rather not resort to that!

they're a little bit different - the flat part is made of silicone, and they come in a pack of 6. apparently (according to the package) each one is good for 5 uses, and you can just wash them in between. (i think i ended up losing the first one before i made it to 5 uses!) they work really well with the pressed pigments because you just scrape a little onto the spatula and spread the glittery stuff onto the lid. so there ends up being less fall-out. i only used them with the MM shadows once, but there was a lot going on, so i don't recall how much it changed.

out of the four shadows, the blue shadow (showgirl) shows up the most differently out on my bare skintone. when i use the silver one over a black base it really brings out the blue tones, so it might be worth trying them over something else.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to see... i think that pulled very plum on me. Plus in my experience, Revlon wears off much more quickly than MAC, one reason i'm not buying many drugstore lipsticks these days.

Plus i've had issues with drugstore lipsticks changing color once on my lips (going redder or oranger), a problem i have had only with MAC Sheen Supreme lipsticks - Asian Flower going from cool lavender to pink fuchsia, which really made me sad, and Blossom Culture going from warm pink to coral, but that wasn't so bad - it's a nice coral.

Also, i actually want something darker than Deeply Adored, but in the same color family. That's why i'm going to experiment mixing up a little something, see if i can get it closer to what's in my imagination.
