Novel Twist Discussion

My brother offered to pay for the brush sets! I'll visit them first thing today to add the pearlizer to my preorder. I have to actually test if the blush and powder would look good on my skin.

hmmm, i saw on another site that Quiver was described as the bronze/copper shimmer and Hundred Degrees was the pink shimmer.....i believe that these are repromotes from Belle Azure, but the ebay search only came up with Quiver and does not describe the color. i'm really confused. can anyone confirm the color description of these? here's a link http://specktra.net/2005_belle_azure.php that describes it this way, too.

and i'm still wondering if the bags pictured near the brush sets are included or if those are the limited edition bags sold separately.

thanks!

I've got a few swatches and some new pics going into the swatch forum soon!!

I went to Nordies and they had the stuff out for you to play with, so I messed around for a little bit. I will not lie, I was not impressed. The warm eye palette just looks plain "ookie." Haha. I only swatched a few specific things, but if anyone wants something in particular, let me know and I'll try to go back on Wednesday.

About the pearlizers, Hundred degrees is DEF pink, a very light pink, but pink nonetheless, and Quiver is the bronze color, but I found it to have almost a burnt sienna color to it.

Now that I see the pics up close I think the packaging is much more interesting. I don't love it, but it' s much better than the plain black and printed "paint swirls" that I thought it was.

There are some good photos in the swatch section, FYI

Thank you so much for the great pics! I would love to see the pink blush swatched and the paint pots if they are there. Did you get the see them in person? What are they like?

I asked about the paint pots, but the girl working the counter said that she didn't think they had gotten them in yet, because they weren't set up. I'll def check back for those this week, though, because they should have them, and I fully intend to play with them, haha.

And I'll swatch the pink blush when I go back, too!

Yeup, the cases have a wooly feel/texture to them, and the "paint swirls" are yarn/string.

I saw some of the Novel Twist items on Friday, and the bags/packaging looks much better in person than on paper. It's almost like a nubby wool with yarn, like ReXaY said, and very cute in person.

I took a few pictures of my swatches and will try to post them in the Swatch section for this color story. Don't know how helpful they'll be, but...

Here are my thoughts on some of the items I swatched or looked at:

Pearlizers:
-Warm Pearlizer - Quiver: light pink-orange bronze w/sparkle (This one could go slightly muddy or orange on cool-toned folks, but it's very pretty!)
-Cool Pearlizer - Hundred Degrees: light pink w/ sparkle (It's nice, but it's not grabbing me 100% just yet.)
-The included kabuki/buffer brush is about two inches big, and just a little over an inch wide in brush "hair" width at the very top if I recall correctly. The square bag that these pearlizers come in is adorable!

Eyeshadow:
Gold e/s from Warm Eyes [Unwind?]: gold w/tan and a very tiny bit of olive... it's really pretty, though naturally a great color for warm-toned folks and those who have warm-toned eyes.
I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the Cool Eyes palette... the Warm Eyes palette clearly has some great looks that can be made with it, but the Cool palette doesn't have a lot of striking colors or looks in my opinion. Not as well-put-together as the Warm palette, sadly. Hopefully people will prove me wrong though!

Lip palettes:
Red, er, Plum Lips palette
cutey.gif
: darkest color [Darkside?] is a blue red, looks almost berry after a few hours; lighter l/s [New York Apple?] looks like it has a tiny bit of coral in it (on my skin) after it fades for a few hours; lightest color is the l/g [Scribbles], which is a light pink, but the pink isn't very pigmented... the sparkles are more visible.
Tan Lips: Gorgeous! I didn't try it on (I'm cool-toned), but the palette looks fantastic! If it's half as beautiful on as it looks in the palette, it'll still be a winner.

Both lippies in there - Fetish and Frenzy - are perm products from the regular line.

Re: MAC - Novel Twist/Exclusive quad (Nordstrom) - May/July 2007

I probably didn't read the color story carefully enough, but what is the pink pot in this picture?

I've just asked the Nordstrom Live chat about the Novel Twist collection, it will be available for online (pre)order at about 12 PST, (21.00 pm at my location: The Netherlands).

We've only have to wait a little bit longer......
