Recommend an eye shadow

Hi I am very new to MAC and was wondering if anyone can recommend some essential colours that would suit me for eyeshadow. I have dark brown hair, very dark brown eyes but skin tone is fair (am ivory in most foundations), thanks

Hey! These eyeshadows are my staples...

Naked lunch (beautiful all-over color)
Phloof! (a great highlighter)
Vanilla (looks good with anything)
Carbon (I use this everyday for a soft, smoky liner)
Mulch and Trax (two great crease colors)
Swish (a lovely frosted pink)

Now you don't need ALL of those but with these colors you can do soft or dramatic, neutral or colored, you can use just one or two eyeshadows or get creative with three or more.... I will never be without these colors!!!
I have brown hair, brown eyes and NC20

I <3 Swish!!! and I've got to add haux to the list....my fave....I think it may be the only shade I've actually had to repurchase because I used it all!

Hey I´m about the same skintone as you, and have dark eyes and hair.

I love (neutrals):

Shroom (nice soft highlight color)
Naked Lunch (good all over lid)
Woodwinked (so gorgeous!)
Satin Taupe
Sable
Soft Brown (good for crease on a very soft look)
Embark (good for crease and brows)
Carbon (of course...basic matte black)

More color (I like greens and purples on my brown eyes):

Golden Olive Pigment (ok not an eye shadow...)
Deep Blue Green Pigment (with a dark base it shows more green)
Femme Noir (matte dark green, good for crease)

Trax (purple, some love it some hate it...)
Burnt Burgundy Pigment (soooo gorgeous!!!)
Beauty Marked (good for crease or as a liner)

Ok long post and a lot of stuff

I have to add Sketch! Honestly I don't know how I lived without this color! I love that I can play it up with other purples or colors, but it looks just as great in a more neutral look...its a great way to add a little intensity without being as dark as Carbon.

for reference: i'm NC15, hazel eyes, dark brown hair
