Hi Ladies,

I'm a lurker in these parts and now that I've decided to take responsibility for my own makeup I need your help. I'm a figure competitor (female bodybuilding) and my makeup requirements definitely need to be long wearing for a stage environment.

Here's what I've got so far. Anything blue is what I've yet to buy.

Skin Care
Strobe Cream
Prep + Prime Skin
Fix +

Foundation, Powder & Concealer

Face & Body: N9 (to match our dark tanning products)
Blot Powder/Pressed: Dark
Bronzing: Refined Deeper Bronze

Studio Finish SPF35: NW40
190 Foundation Brush (Face & Body)
129 Powder/Blush Brush (Studio Fix)
150 Large Powder Brush (Bronzer)
194 Concealer Brush (Undereye & Blemishes)

Cheek
Powder Blush: Format (Frost)
168 Large Angled Contour Brush

Eye Brow
Brow Set: Clear
Brow Shadow: Mystery (Satin)
208 Small Angled Brow Brush

Eye
Paint: Pixel
Pigment: Frost
Eyelid: Electra (Frost)
Crease: Black Tied (Velvet)
Highlight: White Frost (Frost)
Powerpoint Eye Pencil: Engraved
Splashproof Lash: Blacksplash
242 Shader Brush (Paint)
213 Fluff Brush (Shadow)
239 Eye Shading Brush (Shading)
217 Blending Brush (Blending)
266 Small Angle Brush (Lining)
204 Lash Brush (Eyebrows & Lashes)

Lip
Lip Pencil: ?
Pro Longwear Lipcolour:
Legendary or Unchanging with Pearlizer or Mirror
306 Lip Brush
311 Lip Liner Brush
316 Lip Brush/Covered Brush

You'll see in my avatar pic a photo from last years season, this year I want smoky eyes to highlight my pale blue eyes with a nuder lip. Any suggestions as to colour variations for eyes or lips?

Thankyou in advance for any help or suggestions that you may have.

Cheers,
Lia

I actually went and participated in an anctual MAC Class which made such a big difference. I'm going to trial run my makeup look the day before just to make sure that it all goes according to my plan.

Thanks for asking MACaholic76.

I would suggest bronzy colors to really make your eyes pop..try:

Woodwinked
Mulch
Bronze
Antiqued
Sable

You can use the Black Tied to deepen the crease or really smoke out your eyes...I do suggest that you buy another Paint or base that's more neutral (Magrittes or something taupy/skin colored).

As for lips, you can try Babied Lip Lacquer...it isn't as drying as the Longwear but lasts longer than regular lipgloss (it's stickier and more opaque).

HTH!

Thanks I wasn't really sure considering eyeshadow application isn't my strongest point. Fingers crossed.

I did find one thing though, the F&B N9 appeared to be a little patchy when I trialed it yesterday. Any ideas?

Hi Lia,
I am surprised to hear that you picked up the F&B instead of Studio Tech and Studio Fix or the Studio Finish pressed powder. These are *the* best foundations for stage, especially for competitions and under those hot lights! Studio Tech in either NW40/43 should do the trick.
Actually, I try not to make my face match the rest of my orange/tanned body cuz it comes out really bad in photos. You want your face to look softer and if you apply too dark of a foundation it will make you look rough on stage.
Hope I was of some help. Good luck!

That's what I'd been recommended to use by the MAC MA from the Pro Store I visit.

Well the results are in ladies, I got 1st Place in the Womens - Tall and then 3rd Place for the Womens - Overall. I was very pleased with my improved performance and condition and look forward to my next competition in two weeks time.

As for the makeup, more trial and error. After speaking to the MAC MA at the Pro Store it appears my using strobe cream and then Fix + was adding to much moisture to my face thus creating to much shine then slowly sweating it off under intense stage lights. They've recommended a thin layer of Prep + Prime Face, F&B followed by Blot. I'm pretty new to this whole makeup thing not to mention the stage makeup so any help would be appreciated.

And please tell me that I'm not the only woman in the world who cannot apply false eye lashes for the life of her on herself. I've tried and tried and tried but to no avail yet.
