Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

I just give my list to my product specialist, when it comes in she runs it through. I make it a point not to see the actual cost. Would need to go to a therapist to process this addiction. If I ever actually sat down and did the math. Which would then have me spending money on a therapist instead of the makeup. Since I can't afford both. I do limit the lines I play in. I was in Vegas when Gucci came out last summer at Neimans. I still am thankful the lip gloss tasted awful, and the shadows and blushes were and are stunning, they did not take my breath away. I am also thankful Chanel summer collection is not a wowser. Of course I will pick up a few items, the same with Dior. Will have to wait and see what Armani, YSL have in store. It is Mr. Ford who pretty much every time drains my wallet.

Also last summer, I got 6 of the 8 lipsticks and the 4 polishes. The rest I passed on. Not suited for my skin tone. This Spring is the killer. All of them seem to have gotten it right!!!! Great for them, Ramen noodles for me.

Is it just me, or do her swatches of the compact translate differently on her skin? Most of the shades just don't look the same to me.
I thought that as well. I like the shades more in the compact than they appear swatched. Hopefully the swatches were off.

Hmmmm the eyeshadow duos look interesting - two of them look like they have the same cream base, looks like spring cream eyeshadow release

Same here LOL!!! Whoa those are really different.
It has taken me forever to even get the page to upload for swatches. You all are correct. The palette looks rose/pink, yet I am seeing orange in the swatches. Which is why I returned the Unabashed palette last year. Loved the blue, but the rest were too orange based for this Casper.....

I was so excited about the palette, but it's not what I expected at all. Unless these swatches are way, way off, it looks like a

for me.

I shouldn't be so surprised. Tom Ford loves the sun-kissed look, cool-toned pinks and berries for summer aren't really his style.

I've always had better experiences at Neiman's over Nordstrom. Normally at Nordstrom it takes a few minutes just to get an SA - they're so scarce and scattered at my nearest store.

My NM SA texted me the choices and that's the one I'm adding to my pre-sale list!
The only time I hear from Nordie's is their Mascara Madness Sale. The SA I work is a very nice, but not too bright of a bulb. When I have gone to Nordie's, I feel like I am disturbing their hen party by asking for help. The turnover of staff is awful, and if it is not in the line the SA works with, it is another goat rodeo. Yes, my mama brainwashed me from birth on Neiman's. But you can't beat their customer service.

I think the swatches are off. Mr. Ford knows his marketing tools. Last year it was peachy, literally. This year seems to be the rose/pinks. Only time will tell. I know when I take pics, which I admit I suck at, some of them are nothing like the true colors. Keep in mind the hot new color lip is the Rose Soleil, so I am thinking this was the base for this collection. Which is super for my face, sad for my wallet. As well as the re-promotes of Paradisio. Pink seems to be his theme.

I was really excited about the palette too but I can't justify buying it, if the swatches are accurate. A couple of weeks ago I bought an eyeshadow from MAC, which looks exactly the same as the dark one from the palette, when swatched. The other two are easily dupable, but that was obvious even before the swatches. If the blush is too close (or the same) as Softcore, I really really can't justify buying it, I already have it and although I absolutely love it, it's super pigmented and dark, so I use the tiniest amount. So I hope that her swatches are off but I doubt it, as they are usually very accurate.

Also, the cream es will be a skip for me. I expected the powder es to be normal, I don't like these glitter shades, I never use them. Still, I was considering it before I saw the price. The same as the duos. So I'll wait for individual cream eyeshadows, I'm not paying extra £17 for a glitter.

Well, at least if I skip the eye products, I can buy a bronzer or a blush, and a lipstick, if they are not too sheer. Oh, and Nude dip. I guess I can always find something to buy

Yes, they will give you pretty much anything. If you are going to Northbrook, work with Taylor. She is a scream and fun. I have found mixing the Fluid Sheer #2 with the Silk Foundation #3 a good look. About a half of pump of the fluid sheer. Remember Armani foundations are meant to first be warmed up on top of your hand then applied. Maestro foundation is a good summer foundation, but I don't use in the winter. The CC cream in #1 is good for pale skin and I think the spf is 35. Again, I wear this in the summer. Taylor is working today and tomorrow.

Yes, that is my hope too. I LOVE the colors as they appear in her photo in the compact - in her swatches, not so much.
