MAC Styledriven Discussion

finally got to go to a MAC store/counter.

i went to the Horton Plaza (San Diego) Nordstrom MAC counter on Friday (just "passing through") and checked out all the new collections...from styledriven the only things that appealed to me, by no surprise, were dark as night and lasting achievement. everything else was just blah to me...maybe because its permanent, but i had a whole list of items to swatch and out of everything, i just walked away with dark as night, i wanted lasting achievement but that counter didnt have anymore so i went to the MAC store in Fashion Valley (San Diego peeps, this MAC has tons of everything right now!) and they had it. i had high hopes for this collection, haha.

Yup that's true. I once saw a MA carrying a huge bag of wasted products in their boxes to throw away. I hate to think about all those products going to waste because the customers didn't like it =(

OMG, REALLY??? Then I wonder what keeps people from camping outside of MAC stores and scavenging the tossed out returned makeup? You know, like Freegans? Cuz... that sounds pretty thrifty and clever to me, totally something I would do :p

I can't believe I have not hauled a single e/s from this collection yet. I think I am just overwhelmed at where to start. I know I will want Styledriven, Weathered the Fresh Flare and one of the taupe colored ones...
i haven't bought any of the shadows either! i shall end up buying one at some point but just not right now :)

I just love Keep Your Cool e/s it stays on for a long time and it's the perfect color to pair for with an intense smokey eye. I will have to go back for like 2 more of the eyeshadows but let's see if and when I get better. I've been with the flu for the past few days and it sux =(
I hope you feel better soon!

I went to a counter today to try Fresh Flare... wasn't rushing or anything since the collex is perm and there was no reason to. I swatched it on my hand and like the rest of the truer MAC greens that shimmer, the yellow popped right out when it touched my skin. The only MAC greens that stay true to pan on me are the mattes, (like sassy grass) so I'll just stick with those. I moved on to Weathered which is a pretty and complex blue gray. I got hooked on it right away! Glad its perm, I'll get it later.

I saw the display of this collection Thursday and I forgot to swatch some stuff from that collection! :( I have Hot Paprika on my list now and will get it whenever I can.

I went in today to check this collection out. Not very impressed. Well, at least not with the lip products. I think I'll be buying a few of the shadows in the coming months but that's about it and I'm not rushing that.

I still haven't tried Whoops on my lips, I'm worried that I will end up with a hairball stuck to my mouth haha. It will have to be a day where my hair is up.

A few more thoughts on my stuff from this collection: I wore Sweet Satisfaction today. It's one of those colors that doesn't look like much when you apply it but when you're all done with your look, you fall in love with it. It makes you look awake and glowing. I wore it with a dark green shadow by thebalm and I really liked how it turned out. What I'm most excited about, though is my playtime with Whoops! and What a Blast. These two are perfect together. I really don't like the gloss on it's own, but the pencil makes it way better. The pencil is creamy and the color is beautiful. I don't feel any dryness that I find troublesome. It keeps the gloss from looking patchy and it keeps it in place. On it own, I felt the gloss slide and it looked blotchy. I think the liner also minimized the stickiness and the need to apply layers of gloss. The color of the pencil is vivid and therefore, you only need the tiniest bit of gloss. Perfect combo.

Shontay, you really made me want to wear my pro longwear lipglass and lip pencil tomorrow. I don't know if the colors will match, but I'm excited! Thank you!
