MAC - Flighty Discussion

Well, I saw these briefly yesterday and...
puke.gif

Seriously, I don't like cream shadows in general, but these are even worse than I expected. I dabbed a bit of one of them on my hand and the texture felt like a moderately thick soup. The second I touched it, it sheered out so much it pretty much disappeared, but shimmer continued to migrate over my hand. The colours look absolutely lovely, but I don't buy makeup so that I can look at it in the jar. I'm shocked that these were given the OK to launch. Usually, when Mac launched something new, I buy one just for the sake of having it, but I'm going nowhere near these.

I hope someone at Mac HQ called the CCO head office to tell them to clear some shelf space, because these are headed that way on the fast train...

I just wonder how a formulation like this gets to be part of a collection. MAC must know that they don't work well...right?

I also don't think they can be called "cream" shadows. When I think cream shadow, I think MAC Paint Pots, Benefit Creaseless cream shadows, UD cream shadows, etc. These are liquid shadows, like the ones released with Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess collection.

Well I decided to try out my big bounce samples today. I was fortunate to get some samples from my MA before investing in this product. I applied Too Faced SI, then one layer of Spread the Wealth on lid only, and then second layer of BB (this time Extra Charged) on lid only. I applied the BB shadows with the 242. I used some of the shades from the new Chanel summer quad in the crease & too highlight. So far so good. I haven't had any creasing or cracking, but then I have only had it on 2 hours. I will have to wait & see how long it actually holds up. I do find the constant cool lid feeling kind of annoying, as Shontay mentioned. Hopefully that will wear off over time.

The samples that I got of these shadows are pretty sizable, so it will take me some time to use all of it up. I won't actually be buying these unless I run out of the samples & have fallen in love with the product.

Yes I was very happy to get the samples. My MA actually encouraged me to try samples first before buying - which actually was a first. Usually they push the sale.

She said that some people really like this product, and some really hate it. So far I am on the fence about it. Still no cracking or creasing for me. The cooling effect has worn off. Overall the color has faded a bit, but the Chanel eyeshadows I wore with the BB shadows has also started to fade a bit. I am neither overwhelmed or underwhelmed by this product.

I really liked how Extra Charged looked in the packaging, but after trying it at the counter, it looked as if the makeup "floated" on my lids like an oil slick. Was not impressed and wished it was like MUFE's pots.

Did hear from one of the MAC ladies that "creases are in." whhhhhaaaaa?!

ROFL! the only time "creases are in" with me are when I get slacks back from the dry cleaners.

I thought it was hilarious that when I was playing with these at the store, a store I don't frequent, a mua was eager to help me. I didn't need help, but I decided to ask her questions anyway. I held up an awesome pokerface. She told me I should apply powder shadow and then the bb shadow. She was like "see, that's how I'm wearing it". She had some neutral colors and then Free as Air on top. It looked pretty weird. It was kinda broken up and weak. I had my pokerface on. That also contributed to me skipping Free as Air even though I did end up buying two. These things are just no bueno.

I'm still on the fence about these. I went to the counter today and all the girls were using some color from the collection. I was told that this should go straight on the lid, no base needed. So I might try these again...

I definitely wouldn't put it straight on the lid, unless you don't get it anywhere near the crease. Even then, I'd strongly suggest putting down a base beforehand. Otherwise it'll fade/flake/crease really quickly.

creases are in? not with me they are not! i think creased and messed up make up looks are fine for editorial looks - but not for everyday wear.

Russianbabe1981 has her video haul/review of Fashion Flower and Flighty up. In it you get to see just how messy the Big Bounce shadows are in the jar

I watched her review earlier. I do agree that it would've been better in a squeeze tube, but I don't find them particularly messy, just inconvenient. When I opened it, I worked with the product that was on the plastic top. What bugs me, though is that the product in the pot is wide open and "things" may go flying in it. Also, I was a moron to try and remove some of the product from the cap by rubbing it against the edge of the pot. Now that made it messy. She has encouraged me to give it another shot after my initial disgust. I will try Rich Thrills tomorrow with Print or something and see how that goes.
