MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

After looking at Christine's swatches and the comparison/dupes post, I've whittled my list down quite a bit.

Skipping the liners as I don't like the Powerpoint liner pencils. I just don't care for the formula. I'm glad to hear the e/s formulas are better but...Saffron looks too orange (not a fan of oranges and I have Firecracker from TTB), Short Shorts looks too close to Dazzlelight for me (and I can just get Nylon instead), Sun Blonde is too yellow and I'm quite happy with my Going Banannas, I don't like grays and while I would like Surf USA I already own Newly Minted. My Paradise looks too orange and me and orangy blushes don't hang.

In the lippies department I'm glad she mentioned if you have Up the Amp you can skip Bust Out! I already own Up The Amp and between that, Violetta and Flaunting It, I'm good for purple lippies. I shopped my stash and found CB 96 and that's orange enough and I hardly use it that much I feel I can skip Hibiscus. Mocha I have no interest in (as its perm) and the Eccentric one...not good w/ my skin tone. Skipping Girl on Board and Good Luvin' as I have a NARS l/g duo in Harlow and Sweet Dreams that look to be good dupes of these.

Skipping the crushed pigment stacks entirely. Not interested after seeing swatches and reading reviews.

So I'm still grabbing Krazy Kahuna (nice and opaque) and Strange Potion since I missed it in VV. Will probably get a backup of Strange Potion as I love pink-coral lippies. Overall I wish there was more to like about this collection. I feel MAC really missed the mark on this.

-bust out
-good lovin

i highly doubt i'll wear hibiscus and strange potion so i don't want to spend money on it, but bust out...i know i'll wear!

plus i already know i'm really wanting my paradise just because of how it looks, so i know it'll sit in my case for months and then i'll end up selling it...

I googled some pictures of Mocha lipstick because I got curious. I like the way it looks on WOC. It's a Satin, but I'm thinking I should try it and with this special packaging. So, I'm adding Mocha and at that rate, KK is back to pair with it. Pret-a-Papier has shimmer, but KK doesn't so I can use it. I don't feel bad about the 2 additions, because I still come out on the cheap side. Sun Blonde, Hibiscus, Krazy Kahuna, Mocha. :bigstar:

haha the funny thing is that i have been considering KK since i took it out of my list.. i dont have temper tantra so i thought i shld get this.. i just dont like that it is more expensive due to the packaging.. sigh..

I have brought my list down to five items:

-My Paradise
-Hibiscus
-Bust out!
-Mocha
-Krazy Kahuna

That's a total of $90+tax. Not bad! I wanted the crushed pigments, but I own both of the ones from SCF. They're pretty hard to work with, especially for someone who's starting out! I also wanted a make-up bag, but I decided I want a Harajuku Lovers one instead

The only thing I'm still on the fence about is one of the bronzer sticks...I've never really used a bronzer before, so I don't know if these are a good place to start. Temptalia compared them to Nars multiples. How are those?

I'm going to skip Sun Blonde completely. I hardly ever use any of my yellow eyeshadows. For Swell Baby, I may have to skip it as well since I barely reach for greys. I'm now on the fence with Bust Out. It reminds me of Style Curve and I cannot get enough of purple lipsticks!

So are the Studio Careblend pressed powders bronzers? I'm a little confused by them, but would like one for the compact.

My list changed again. Now I want all 5 eyeshadows and the Surf The Ocean pigment stack. I really wanted both of the pigment stacks, but it pushed me over my budget. ssiiiiggghh. Maybe they'll still be available when I get paid again?

Though I'm still a bit unsure about MP since I like how it looks best with the gold overlay and that will only last for so long... but I doubt I would use it often enough to make the overlay go away quickly... lol

I say since your getting hibiscus with the packaging to try and back2mac for Mocha to save money but if u really want it im the packaging go for it!!

it could be as the pigments are quite expensive so i dont see it selling out so quickly.. maybe they will bring in more at a later time? or it may come out in the cco for u guys..

Shontay yes lipglosses would work. Also I dont think the items have to be "empty". Also if you use MAC wipes the packaging can be B2M

I have never taken advantage of b2m. Still unsure how it works. I would feel stupid bringing things to the store since I've never done it. Awkwaaaard. I need to look up the rules. I have some lipglasses and stuff I don't use, if that falls under the category.
