So, I got to try out Surf Baby today in the back room of my local store. 'Some quick notes (NC15, red pigmented lips):
Hibiscus - Blotted or after a few hours or wear, this color is a perfect dupe of XXXhibitionist Kissable Lipcolour. I have Hibiscus on my bottom lip and XXXhibitionist on my top lip and they're 99.5% identical in finish and opacity, as well as color - Hibiscus is just an infinitesimal touch redder. If you have XXXhibitionist and love it, you may want a tube of Hibiscus, but if you loved XXXhibitionist so much that you already have a back-up, like me, you may have to think twice. Of course, freshly applied, it's a bit different - has more of a brick red undertone, without being orangey at all. However, even then this is not even close to Toxic Tale and almost dupes XXXhibitionist.
This is a great color if Toxic Tale was just too bright and/or too matte for your taste or if you have medium or darker skin and want something that looks vibrant and bright. Like Heartless, this is a color that will look more subdued the paler you are. I think it's a very classy color, and will work on all skin tones, but then again XXXhibitionist was also my #2 favorite from the Kissables, after Flaunting It.
Surf Baby - the tester swatched rather sheer, but I'm sure applied directly to the eyes with a brush, you could easily get a strong pigmentation. It looked a little less green than a lot of our swatch photos, but it will definitely read as greener than the majority of the MAC teals and turquoises out there. No doubt in my mind about getting it.
Sun Blonde - Oh yes, this is the winner in the shadow department, if there has to be a top winner. Very soft and pigmented. This is a color that is going to make every eye color look great, bringing out any greenish or golden element. I actually applied it on top of Black Diamond Big Bounce shadow, which I came in the store wearing, and it even popped in a big way over that. If you're only going to buy one item from this whole collection, this would be it, if you can't get or don't want the Crushed Metal pigments.
Krazy Kahuna - well, wouldn't you know it.....this was the most unusual, coolest color in the whole collection. It's a medium brown with a distinct orange cast. If you are fair, this is the lippie that will look the wildest out of all of them. It's an almost exact dupe of one of the weird brown glosses from Ellis Faas, which is an avant guard european brand that is super $$$ and hard to get in the States. This is 100% a fashion forwards statement color and all it'd need is a little Sun Blonde or Surf Baby on the eyes, perhaps with the blue liner. Definite buy for me, but depending on your skin tone and how adventurous you are, you mileage is going to definitely vary ( some people will probably despise this color and think it looks like baby poop from a baby who eats a lot of carrots).
I've got to run for a bit, but I'll continue this later with my less must-have items, plus some special words about the pigment stacks......
