MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

I just left the MAC store at The Grove in Los Angeles. They handed me an invite for the Surf Baby Launch party they are having on Tuesday the 17th from 7pm to 9pm. The invitation was really cute. It's a surf board. They promise cocktails and canapes (Jose Cuervo). Intially I wasn't interested in anything from the collection but who knows what I'll leave with. I've NEVER used a bronzer before.

My store handed me an invitation last night as well. Their launch/party is scheduled for the 26th (Canada). I'm very excited and its my day off work!

[/quote] I think I'll hit up the grove as well. Hopefully I can get an invite. I haven't had mac send me any mailers for a looooong time. And I buy a ton Damn it! Lol. And I plan on buying quite a bit of this collection.

I think, sadly, that this collection is dying down for me I may skip the few things I'm still looking at (2 or 3 shadows). I've had to skip so many things I loved that it's becoming easier, which makes no sense. You'd think I'd want my "to buy/find later" list not to keep growing!! No choice I guess.

- I'm loving Surf USA but not sure I'd get a ton of use. Even if I adore it, I always opt for what suits the occasion most, usually browns > greens > purples. Ha..am I boring lately or what?
- Swell Baby - I've had to skip soooo many greys that I adored the past year...like wow! But HG says there will be more in the fall. Maybe I should wait and get which I like best, past or present.
- I also like Short Shorts, but it's similar to Nylon, though I don't have that yet!
- Never wanted the stacks because they are chunky, but boy are they gorgeous! Also like a lipglass or two but I guess I don't need them.

In my opinion Nylon is much more in your face than Short shorts.I don't know there is something about Nylon that I don't like, perhaps that it's a bit too shimmery for me sometimes. Short shorts is a bit more muted and an easy everyday highlighter for me. I think it isn't as golden as Nylon. I don't wear coloured eyeshadows very often (blues/freens/teals) but yet i still got Surf USA. I'm a bronze/brown eyeshadow girl but i always like a pop of colour on my lower lashline, this is why i got Surf USA, the texture is so much better than Gulf Stream and it is waay more pigmented.

yeah nylon is a bit much as a highlight colour for me too. although that said i did use it a couple of days ago and really liked it!

Yes, it was recommended to me by a Mac MA as a replacement for the gold overlay in 'my paradise' (if you ever run out of the overlay - it is pretty thick so I think it will last a long time)

Realdoll - pleased it was useful. Might be worth swatching it with the blush before you buy, but when the MA swatched it for me it did look like a good match AND it's a great excuse if you were eyeing it anyway

Hope everyone who's buying my paradise likes it as much as me - I wore it again yesterday and I'm still in love with it!!

i had a *very* similar thought last night! i'm getting tired of stress dreams where i'm trying to get the new items and it's all sold out!

I'm going to avoid Bust Out. This sort of color seems to have been in the last 2-3 collections from MAC. And I believe I may have bought all of them. Add to the fact that I also own Up The Amp and Revlon's Berry Haute. I do have to admit that the bronzing sticks are tempting but I realized that I had a NARS Multiple in Palm Beach that gets almost NO love. I need to use that before buying more product that may just sit there. I also had Surf USA on my previous list but again I went through my teal/ green/ blue palette and I realized that I can live with skipping this one. I plan on going to PRO on the 19th to make my purchases.

I love pigments as well but I realized I have STACKED 2 from Spring Forcast last year and I've used it a grand total of ONCE! Thats the reason I never had them on my list this time around.

yeah that is why i skipped the purple set because i haven't used my stacked 2 set much either!
