MAC - Surf Baby Discussion

Hi winnie! I've missed you for sure xD

I've been LOVING surf usa on the lashline. I would do a neutral light-med color on the lid such as daliance, bough grey, all that glitters, grand entrance, dream maker, all that glitters, etc etc with a black winged liner and surf USA on the lashline with false lashes and lots of mascara on the bottom. I was afraid I wouldn't get much use out of it, but I am! It has such a beautiful glow that isn't too pale or too dark. Paired with a light lip, I think it is wearable anywhere! I am also thinking about getting short shorts just because my femme fi pot is shattering more and more >_>

Does anyone want to convince me that I still need to get Saffron? On the lower lash-line, it might make my blue eyes pop... Thoughts?

I've got a new lovely lip look!

Krazy Kahuna lightly over Bust Out!

Makes a subtle, sexy plum with a red-brown cast.

Honestly, KK is such a winner. It's not to be overlooked!

KK looks good over any l/s shade because it adds an interesting twist to them. Have fun layering!

That's why I got two of them. This color is so hard to find.

Honestly, I think I do like it enough to back it up. But when swatched on my hand, I thought it looked kinda similar to Solar Riche though, except SR leans a little bit more orange whereas LLB is more rosy looking. Did you backup GGL too?

And I just want to complain that MAC prices are so much higher here! It cost me $48 for a compact (both My Paradise and careblend bronzers are the same price).

I'm thinking it might even be cheaper if someone got a CP for me, despite having to pay for international shipping. Sigh.

I am wearing the Aquamarine color from the Surf the Ocean pigment stack today. First time wearing a crushed metal pigment. Such a gorgeous color, but boy oh boy was it a PITA to apply! I don't know if I will be keeping these. They are ALOT of work, If anything, I may keep the pale aqua color and sell off the rest. The color is amazing.

Yup, I got 4 in total. 2 LLB and 2 GGL. Solar Riche was far more orange-y, so I didn't even bother with it. I also think the Careblend bronzers apply so much smoother than the regular MAC bronzers.

I understand what you mean. i bought hibiscus and kk and it set me back $60. if we buy it overseas, we probably can get 3 lip products. i just could not bring myself to buy MP as it was so expensive!

I tried the Surf the Ocean stack. The aqua color is a flipping nightmare. Never again, do you hear me? It skips like hell. I tried it over a Nars primer on one eye and Groundwork PP on the other. When I blended another color with it, the skipping was less obvious, but it was just ugly to behold. It just shouldn't happen. Also, what a pain to remove! Glitter/shimmer everywhere. I had to wash my entire face when all I had on was eye make up. Make up remover was not enough to remove the glitter after every other piece of my eye look was gone! The other 3 colors are winners. Even my melted gold pigment looked gorgeous, and it's actually less runny than before. My fave is the dark blue. It blends beautifully. The surprise is the silver shade. I thought it would look horrible on me, but not at all. The pp really made it pop. I love this stack, so it's not a total loss, but the shade that I really bought it for is a dud. I'll stick to the lightest colors in my photorealism quad for something similar.

I feel so lucky that I've not had any real issues applying or removing the crushed pigments. I use my Neutrogena cleansing towelettes to get rid of the stuff. No big issues with glitter all over the face either.

xbarbiieex1, those colours suit you so well! What an amazing look. You make me wish for Sun Blonde, too o_O ... WOW do those 2 colours ever suit each other!!

Yes I spent about $178 on this collection (5 items). I will probably go back for more. Wow, only 2 items for you?! That's pretty impressive!

I'm not even much of a bronzer person but I love my LLB - I only got it because Careblend powder's become my go-to face product above anything else, but I'm finding myself reaching for the LLB every day lately, now that it's been sunny out. It's so natural looking, even though it's a pretty deep tan look for me (NC15). Looks great for contouring the collar bone and decolletage too.

To be honest, last year's Beach Bronze cream bronzer looks a bit subtler, but for something without glitter and a more matte finish, LLB is pretty sexy. I hate any bronzer that gives even a hint of that orange tan look. Also looks great applied more heavily as a blush.

I also got the stick in Tan-Tint, which I prefer to LLB for contouring the cheeks. It's working really well bronzing the pale bits on my shoulders and arms and chest to even out the parts that don't get color usually. It's got great staying power - I did a 5 mile run today with Tan-Tint on cheeks and forehead over a ton of thick sunscreen, and LLB to finish. I sweated up a storm, and it all looked just fine after I was finished. (Blue Noon behaved like a total champ too - I usually never exercise with makeup, but I got a bee in my bonnet to try it today).

It's funny, I was originally going to return the stick along with MP and LLB, since I felt like one bronzer from last year was enough. Now that I've gotten some sun, though, I think I'm getting hooked on all these products for now.

I'm wearing the minty green color from photorealism with the deep blue pigment from surf the ocean. I really like it. The dark blue blends really well. Almost too well. You only need a little bit. I can't wait to use the silver one. Just gotta think of how to use it because I'm not always a fan of silver on me. Maybe with plumage. :hmm:

Any recs from this collection for uber light skin? Esp. bronzers but wondering what the PPP's are loving? Also, did you prefer Surf Baby to To the Beach, or which collection did you prefer and WHY?

While I am pale, I can't give recs on bronzers, since I don't use them :) I think I preferred To the Beach, because I liked more variety of products with it, however I'm loving my Surf Baby eyeshadows so that's a hard choice! Two of my most favorite products are from To the Beach though, and that's Splashing Lipglass and Lazy Days lipstick. :) I'm still kicking myself for not getting Flurry of Fun lipglass and Firecracker eyeshadow too!
