Chanel Foundations & Concealers

I thought BR12 look like a better match on her skin on cafemakeup pic's too, though she is warm toned. Maybe BR22 will be better on me than B20. Anyway I have no idea when we are getting this foundation

Yes, I agree. I'm interested to hear what she says about it.

^^ just my 2 cents.. this foundation seems to have a heavier coverage and if it does oxidize as frequently as mentioned.. it might oxidize during any time of the day too.. sweat, sunlight, air conditioning can all exacerbate the oxidation process..

I think I will finish up my existing stash of Parure, Vitalumiere A and other foundations before I leap into this abyss. personally, having the potential of turning orange is not my idea for a $ 55.00 foundation.

I bought #64 today and I am going to try it out in a few. I'm hoping for the best. It made the most sense when I was swatching, though.

I didn't even realize a brush was released with this foundation. I was thinking about buying the new Mac one, but I am so used to the 109, I don't know if I can go back to a flat brush. I just tried #64. It's perfect. I was so damn scared at first because it goes on really light. Of course, though it settles and it's really nice. Thanks again, Ingenue! :bouquet:

I've seen the new foundation brush. I should have gotten it instead of the shiseido perfect foundation brush, if I knew it was launched so soon after shiseido. I have the mini non-US version foundation brush from chanel and I really like that it applies quickly and buff in foundation evenly. I didn't like the short handle though, with a long handle I can blend and buff more easily. Shiseido takes more time and if I'm not careful I end up with foundation on my pores and they look huge. I can't spread foundation on my face with it, but have to use quick short dabs and it takes lots of time. I will pick up the new chanel brush when my funds isn't so tight.

When I was at Harrod's they had a dislpay that previewed the new brushes. There was a multi-fiber brush similar the MAC's 187. I am waiting for it to be launched before I consider the #6 brush.

By the way, I looked at the two sided mirror and was a little disappointed because the magnifying side didn't magnify as much as I would like. I am undecided aout purchasing it.

^^ Oh very interesting! I have to admit I am a fingers girl when it comes to applying foundation.

Lately I've been using my fingers, and then finishing with 187. I heard that the best way is to use fingers and then sponge to blend it out evenly, but I've never use the sponge and don't buy them because they are so hard to wash. I probably want to use and toss.

It's awesome, right? The trick to this foundation is not buying sight unseen. I just don't know how you can possibly get your perfect color without some samples beforehand. Beige-Ambre 64 is the perfect match for me... even with oxidation. It doesn't even really go on 'light' for me. It matches my skin perfectly and wears properly throughout the day. I think a lot of that oxidation is in the Ambre series. It REALLY has the potential to go orange.

Regarding foundation brushes, I'll never commit to a flat one again. I have the Super from Louise Young, and the small Goat from Hakuhodo... and they work MILES better than any flat foundation brush I've ever used.

^ agree with Ingenue to a certain extent since natural fibre gives a more airbrushed effect.. but.... I am really in love with my synthetic fibre brushes .. but not necessarily the new paddle shape from Chanel.

I read the review on Cafemakeup -- and it is suggested that the foundation be left to "sit" .. settle in, on the skin for about 30 minutes

-- I don't have 30 minutes to wait to see what colour I am going to turn if I am applying my mu (total) in 10 minutes flat... and I am of the school who doesn't use foundation on eyelids or under the eyes and foundation is one of the final steps to my full mu.... I think I will pass on this product.

I put my foundation on last, too and I do not put it on my lids. I don't think you need 30 minutes to let it set in. The wrong shade did fool me, but I knew within 5 minutes I had the right one with #64. That's because I knew to check my ears against my face this time . Give it another try, HerGreyness.

^^ I use the B31 in Guerlain Parure.. it is an asia only shade.. similar to the NARS Gobi colour..so this poses problems for Chanel foundations.. always has unless I use /mix with white primer.

lol.. Winthrop.. I read that.

however she does mention that it takes about 30 minutes for the foundation to "warm" up on the skin.. and on her, it remains "stable".. As much as I love Chanel, I like stability from the git go

Maybe they will work the kinks out for future foundations. I'm sure they will be getting feedback. I'm surprised the shades seem unstable at the lighter end of the spectrum as well. I thought Chanel had that down already. It's so funny to see my Chanel foundation next to my Mufe HD and Face and Body. It looks so, so light in it's bottle, but it's a match on my skin. :dunno:
