MAC Glitter and Ice Discussion

Just noticed, my Winterized has a slightly flatter dome than the rest, like it's been used, although it doesn't look used (if that makes sense). I don't know, maybe there was a slightly smaller plop put into the mould during production. Has anyone experienced it or is mine a duff one? It's still domed and will last me forever, so I'm not that fussed, but it's a bit weird.

when i said synthetic i was obviously refering to the "possibly" synthetic black fibers since they have a dye.
The white fibers in MAC dual fiber brushes are always synthetic. That's why they're so soft and bendable....it's the dark fibers that are natural, at least in the full size ones.

All of my dual fiber brushes leave a dark smudgy mark on the paper towel where they lay when drying. I wash all of the brushes I've used at the end of the week and use a lot of my dual fiber brushes weekly. I've noticed some of the black dye is gone from most of my older brushes (some are more than 5 years old), but this has not caused a problem with the function of the brushes.

Hope this helps!

Which ud pp? I've found that some last longer on me than others. I wore MES over ud PP and a paintpot.. WET and it didn't budge.

Did you try them wet? I think if you don't have a super tacky surface and you use them dry they will "dust" off. I dunno.

^ yes.. I got a lovely dark grey with subtle shimmer effect.. used it all over my top eyelid and on the outer corners of the bottom lids. good combo.

I used the original, and the "dust off" makes sense.

When you use them, are you using a mixing medium?

Fix+ when I use them wet... original pp is my favorite. I've found that Eden pp holds things like glue.. which is good and bad! It's super hard to get off too.

I was inspired by Lou's look she posted the other day and thought I would share :)
I used Shimmermint wet. First I applied original UDPP, then NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I spritzed a brush with Fix+ and patted Shimmermint on my inner lid and outer V. I put MAC Brill in the center which gave it just enough of a highlight in my center lid. I used UD Exhaust and a little bit of UD Romp in the crease. Feline Kohl as an eyeliner, and I smoked it out with Hocus Pocus.

But yes, in response to the current discussion, I've found that using the MES wet makes them stick around longer. NYX Milk made Shimmermint more vibrant, too! Fix+ helped the color stick around and the fallout was very minimal! I just swept away a few random glitters and then spritzed my eyes with Fix+ and I got a good 8+ hours of wear time with this look yesterday!

the mineralized brush set....i cleaned with brush cleanser AND the white fibers turned green!!!!!! and no i did not use any green product cos i only used them to contour.
That sucks--I almost bought that set and now I am sort of thinking I won't. I do agree the synthetic stuff is softer than the real fur, which I don't like to use for obvious reasons to the animal. I always use a nonalcohol cleaner like my eye make up remover and a little baby shampoo and no problems with color changes--I have a few white bristled MAC brushes but none of the so called mineral or duo fiber ones...

One last FYI, anyone who missed out on the grey Paint pot (For Effect), there is a Mary Kay cream shadow called glacier grey which is not an exact dupe, it is sheerer but it is an expensive alternative and it isn't hard to get if you know a MK consultant or buy it from ebay...just sayin'

I love winterized! Its such a complex color and shows up gray blue purple brown on my lids. It's great for an easy smoky eye and because it's great to use its right up there with hocus pocus. I have no problems with too much shimmer or fallout. Love it!

Oh, shoot, I posted this under the Daphne Collection so I'm reposting here. Dope!

I did get a chance to run over to Macy's & re-check out this collection. My MAC store sucks in lighting big time. All incandescent & fluorescent. Even the outside mall lighting it's the best & it's just too far on the 2nd floor to keep swatching & running outside. Macy's has bright fluorescent lighting & the counter is right next to the door so it's a peach to run for daylight. It was great to see the collection under great lighting! I want one of the large, spherical, mirrored display cases! :)

I specifically went back to swatch the Let's Skate. No color payoff for me, just glitter.

Anyway, my question is to anyone who got the the MES in Snow Season: Would this make a good face highlighter in the same way Lightscapade does. The just occurred to me so I figured I throw it out before I ran back needlessly -- of course, if any store even has any left.

Leesha posted her video review and swatches for the holiday and Miss Piggy collections. She is so cute, she's making me want to buy everything

Thank goodness she didn't review the whole collection. So far I still haven't picked anything up, although I think I'm going to go check out Let's Skate and Fresh Ice MES this week.
