Hehehe, only a bit. I recommend that you just get a few selected ones, so you use them up (or at least most of it) before they dry out. Having said that, if you use them on eyes, cheeks, and lips, they won't last long anyway.

yeah this is true - when i use something everyday for months solid it never lasts long :)

I wish that was the case for me! Even my Careblend powder and bronzer have dents in them, but no sign of the pan yet. I must just really use a light touch pulling product out of the pan.

Whenever I pull out Marine Life and see how the embossing on the light pink side is almost gone, it makes me happy - shows I'm really getting use out of it hahaha!

The olive and the taupe look gorgeous, but I'm worried by what I've heard about the formula being bad. I never tried the old Metal X shadows. If only MAC would make Paint Pots in those colours!

They need to invent a vacuum sealed case to keep these in to prevent the dry out. That is really my only hesitation in buying these ATM. I get a little sad everytime I look at my Ash Metal e/s. So freaking dried out.

I use a 182, but with a really light hand, I suppose! The embossing is mostly gone from my Careblend bronzer, but that's it too - and I used it every day until into October, when it was time for pale again. They better bring Lush Light Bronze back when I'm ready for a new one!

Just buy a beauty fridge. They are not expensive and well worth the money, especially if you use liquid foundation and cream e/s. Remember to put products straight back into the b/f once you are done and your products will last much longer.

probably a silly question - but do you just use an ordinary bar fridge (under counter type)....or is there an actual marketed 'beauty fridge' out there....

i suppose i can probably share the bar fridge with my husband's beer ;)

I would think a mini fridge would work just fine. Though you want to make sure you don't store any foods or drinks that smell in it because it might give our makeup a scent too.

But would a fridge prevent these from drying? Liquid foundation, glosses, paint pots, cream shadows (in jars), etc. mostly have a good seal. I thought a fridge only prevents cosmetics from going bad too soon. If Metal X shadows don't have a good seal, won't the cold dry air dry these out even faster?

Generally, cold air will cause liquids (creams) to dry out less quickly than if you have them at warm temperatures (evaporation will slow down if you put the products in colder air).

On the other hand, if your fridge is circulating air, this will encourage evaporation compared to the product just sitting in your drawer.

Think of using a blow dryer on your hair on the warm setting versus the cold setting...it's kind of like that.

Overall, the lower temperature will discourage evaporation more than any circulation of air will encourage it. That said, the cold temperature will also stiffen up the product, so you'll want to wait for it to warm back up before using it.
