NARSissist Eye Palette

I'm seriously wondering what to do now!! I haven't got any NARS shadows and at 49 euros it seemed like a great palette to buy! Now I'm unsure!

MakeupMLC usually has very thought-out reviews, and the finger swatches really show the lack of pigmentation in comparison with the singles. /: I still think I want to see this in person, though. Holding out hope.

Here's a youtuber review, not good :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39Hzp1RD3Q8
Thanks for posting the video! I don't understand these shadows aren't the same quality as the singles. They're repackaging mostly permanent shadows so how it could it go wrong?

According to NARS' twitter, this palette will be available for 6 months so I think I'm going to pass on it for now.

I think I'm going to pass too and not rush. I have several NARS duos that I barely use. This palette is really pretty though. I'm going to sit back and wait for more reviews to pop up

I obsessed over this so much that I finally caved and bought it, now I'm worried about the quality lol. If anyone is still looking for it, I ended up getting mine off lordandtaylor.com - after I realized the NARS site sold out and Nordstrom didn't have it either, I ended up using google to find out everywhere NARS is sold in hopes of finding it somewhere else and ended up finding it there.

I kind of glad I held off ordering, even though it appeared on the UK site. There are three shades in there I really want, for which I know the singles are excellent. Initially I had hopes for this, but if the quality really is inferior to the single pans, I'll probably just get the full size versions and do without the rest.

This would have been perfect to take on holidays though, but not if the quality isn't there.

After watching this I think I'll give this a miss. Meekong was the shade I wanted the most and the one in the palette just looks disappointing.

We're not as lucky in the Uk as you can't return anything. £55 is a lot to spend on something when your only option if you don't like it, is to then sell it on ebay for a quarter of what you paid!

The reviews on this have been conflicting - Christine (at Temptalia) gave it a 'B'. I don't think its bad, I think I B would probably be about average. Makeup and Beauty Blog and Cafe Makeup both gave the palette excellent reviews. MABB gave it an 'A' while Cafe Makeup doesn't rate, she raved about it. They both mentioned that the shadows were typical, good NARS quality.

Don't let blogs decide for you, check it out for yourself. Even if you only like half of the shadows, it's still an excellent value.

Yes the problem is that I for instance can only order online and we can't take it back if we don't like it! So I need to rely heavily on reviews and what people say. Unfortunately one bad review weighs more than three good ones when you're spending your own money and can't take it back!! I'll wait for more reviews and see what happens!! If only I could check it out myself!!

Exactly this. We have such a crappy returns policy in UK, in that it's near impossible to return anything. I've only managed it once with a MAC foundation and for that I got an exchange. Bobbi Brown refunded me for a foundation because I had a reaction to it, but it's not the norm.

I liked the review above because she actually showed the difference between the single, permanent shades and the palette and this is what I wanted to see. I read a lot of blogs and reviews and often I just see people rave and recommend everything (and not in a "hey I just bought this and it's really great and wanted to share" kind of way and that sometimes puts me off.

I hate waste as well. I would rather spend that amount on three singles that are excellent, than a substandard palette where half of it disappoints me.

I changed my mind about getting it, I'm putting the cash towards buying some base make up instead. I realised I don't need eyeshadows as much as I need good correctors/concealers!

I swatched some colors last night & they are perfectly fine. Nice & pigmented. I don't see where the complaints are coming from

Phew! This is what I'm hoping for! Sometimes there's a discrepancy between the opinions of Youtubers/Makeup Artists/Professionals and just general people that buy makeup for personal use.
Excited to get my palette! :D

I was super excited to get my hands on this yesterday ... and then saw Temptalia's review when I got home. I swatched a couple of the shades deemed problematic by Temptalia last night, but they seemed to go on smoothly and pigmented with a light finger swipe. They also smudged/blended fairly easily.

This morning I started with the Nars eye primer (which isn't actually my fave, but I had a small sample) and then a bunch of the shades: the neutrals going down the far left side of the palette, (so All About Eve, Madrague and Bellissima at various points - lid, inner corner, blending out under the brow), Fez in the crease and Mekong as the liner. I then took a very fluffy Burberry crease brush and lightly applied Bali to the outer corners.

I used a Shu no. 10 sable brush for the lid, a Paula Dorf crease brush, and the Nars angled liner brush. Oh, and a small, flat dome shaped Mac brush (one of the original made in France ones they no longer make) to just lay down a bit more of the Bellissima along the lid just after the liner.

Everything looked great and blended well. I haven't had issues with fall out, stiffness/dryness of the shades in the palette, or blending it all out to look nice. It's all stayed put all day (though I haven't gone out). I was as happy with the finished look as anything else I've tried from Nars.

I have some of the singles and duos that are in the palette, notably Bad Behaviour, so I am keen to see if the cinematic formula in that is the same as the palette. But for the variety of looks you can create for the price, so far, I'm happy.

I love that Temptalia swatches and reviews so much so fast, but my experience has tended to differ from hers occasionally. If you can try the palette in stores, I suggest you do so to see how you feel about the individual shadows!

Today, I did a nice everyday look with shades from the left side of the palette. No complaints so far! I haven't dabbled with the darker right side of the palette yet.

Hi Ladies,

I went to my local Sephora on Friday and noticed that they were having an event on Sunday hosted by Francine Phillips debuting the Narsissist palette. Of course I signed up! I attended the event today where we were allowed to play with the palette and try out different looks. I fell in love and I ended up purchasing the palette, Kauai duo,Annees Folles lip gloss, and Timanfaya lip pencil (I will need to confess my sins in the low buy thread). I didn't see any issue with the pigmentation however, this is my first Nars eyeshadow purchase so I cannot compare it to other permanent shadows.
The palette was $89.00 CDN and those who attended received a free travel roll, sample of their makeup remover, New lover lip pencil and gold digger lip gloss. Sephora will have this palette for public sale on Feb.2nd.
