I don't have an issue with them choosing Lorde for a collab, I was a bit surprised they chose someone so new to the scene but I'm not upset over it. I'm not too familiar with her outside of that one song about royals or something, but I do like a vampy lip so if MAC can whip something new up I'm down. As far as celeb collabs go, sure there are some I'd love to see a collection inspired by for one reason or another, but if I decided to not buy something just because I didn't like who the celeb was I would of missed out on some great items. I'm not a fan of Miley, but I think a collection with her would be edgy, funky and fun. I'm not a fan of RiRi or Nicki Minaj either but I sure bought their lippies because I liked them plain and simple. Anywho, that's just my :2cents:
This is true, but still I would not buy a thing if it was associated with someone I find personally objectionable. Someone like say, Lena Dunham. There's just no way. What's that designer brand that had those highly offensive product names a couple of years ago? Refused to buy that. I saw that stuff super cheap on ebay and wasn't tempted in the least. I like when people stand by principles like that. However, you really are missing out if you skip out on something just because you think the person is sucky.

Good point! There are definitely some people I'd never buy anything they were affiliated with based on principal alone and I wouldn't take anything from them even if they were wrapped in chocolate and being handed out for free. But a collection being sold with awesome colours and the only fault is that I don't like the person's music etc? Mine. lol

Are you thinking of the Rodarte collection? I wasn't too into MAC then, but I think I remember there being drama over the product names.

I would like a Miley collection! I think she'd be very good and would be in touch with what her fans like! I like her, her music not so much but I occasionally like something. Rodarte...was that the one with factory girl and had inappropriate art work?

I actually am OK with Miley Cyrus because she's so blatantly F.U. about her whole slutty, druggie obnoxious schtick. I am old enough to remember the days where rock women were totally rough and out of control, crazy and punk rock. They may or may not have also been beautiful or sexy, but they mostly were just wild and doing whatever the hell they wanted. When that whole Madonna, image above everything, fake sexy female empowerment thing got going, it was so hypocritical and commercial. To me, Miley takes that junk trend to the ultimate degree and then passes it by being so completely ridiculous and rebellious about it. I like that she makes a lot of people really mad and annoyed. Anything to shake people out of their snoozing. That's why I'm OK with Rihanna too. Lady Gaga probably has more raw talent than either of these gals, but lately it seems like she's imitating herself, rather than continuing to just be naturally weird (or not..). I think Gaga just needs to do an album of broadway show tunes, Liza Minnelli-style and get it out of her system ;)

As for Lorde, she's a pretty young girl with one good single. If MAC wants to use her for a collection, at the least they'll be able to make her look good in the promo images. Her look is super popular right now, whether it's flattering or balanced or not. No makeup + black lips and beautiful hair/skin always looks a lot better in person than in photos, even though it's non-traditional.
I agree about Miley. Im not a fan but i like that old school rough around the edges thing. I loved Courtney Love back in the day, she was like that. Atleast she is being herself. I liked Britney Spears more after her breakdown, atleast she seemed like a real person and not totally fake. Also wish Lady Gaga would do another album soon and be crazy again. Now shes the Versace face, which she looks great doing, but i miss the wearing bondage bra and panties to baseball games lol. Now as far as Lorde goes, only jus heard her music in my sisters car of course lol. My sister is really into that kind of genre. Lorde has great skin and hair thats for sure!!! and when i was a tween and teen i wore vampy lips all day errrryday!!! wet & wild vampire kiss and black cherry. And black lipstick from manic panic, or from the rite aid wet & wild halloween collection which i bought all of after the holiday on sale lol. so i can see why mac would use her. Personally it dosnt lure me in, but i wasnt into Hayley WIlliams didnt know who she was. But i still regret not buying her lipstick!!! So if i find a color i like its on, otherwise the younger ladies can have it all!!!

Well MAC has done collections with folks too new on the scene, look at Azealia Banks, she never even had that one hit did she? I still believe her when she said acting a fool got the rest of her MAC collection cancelled. As for Miley...she just makes me too damn tired. There are just too many words to use on how exhausting that girl seems to be. I wasn't born around the hey-day of Madonna so maybe I'd feel different but everything about Miley screams try hard to me. She's like that chick from high school who needed everyone to know how down to party, drink, smoke and mess around they were when no one was asking or interested. The "I'm so drunk omg I want to make out with everyone!!!" chick who only had two sips from a bottle and is suddenly humping the house plant.

Yep, it was the one with the collection based on Juarez with names like Sleepwalker. That was a crazy mess!
I have been looking for those products everywhere :-( That was the perfect collection for pale NW folks - no matter what theme or names.

yeah that was weird. that was jus strange. I personally think Rodarte was the brains behind that altho im surprised it got as far as it did into production!!! I know a lot of ppl who no longer support Nars after the Bourdin situation. I stand to my principles but i try not to get involved in everything or i wouldnt buy anything. ever. But i respect everyones feelings.

Yeah, I definitely didn't buy anything from that collection but that doesn't mean I will boycott Nars, although I don't buy much from them anyway.

Mhm. Everyone has their own personal line that they just can't cross. Truth is, everything we enjoy is "problematic" to some degree. You just have to decide what's important to you.

If you've been here long enough, you'll know I've been crying for an Adele/Mac collaboration and you might hate me for it, but hate me again because I'll keep saying it until it happens.
I agree. I'm 26 and Lorde is probably one of the few famous teens that I actually like! I like Selena too, she is so beautiful and always looks gorgeous.

I'll be the minority here and say I really don't mind Miley, I do think she has talent, but I think it's being wasted and her persona is a bit whack, I think she's trying to hard to get the Disney image to drop, Maybe she is taking a Que from her brother.

Exactly! Especially the pale peachy beauty powder, they need to release something similar in another collection.
Maybe one day they'll decide to repackage them with different names. Actually kinda surprised they haven't, it looked like a nice collection.
