Does anyone think any of the lustres are a close match to my beloved Marquis D' which I am nearly out of and which dang MAC hasn't repromoted in a few years?

Real Redhead, French Twist or Call the Hairdresser looked like potential contenders....

Real redhead looks fairly closer to it.

That's a tough call, all are pretty. Which are you feeling?

so many lovely colors! Highlights, Catty and Notice Me for sure. This picture makes Catty look amazing - perfect light pink for NCs. Maybe Call the Hairdresser and Pure Vanity. I get the feeling some of the softer shades are going to have similar matches in the new Huggables collection and I might prefer some of those in that formula, especially the nudes. It'll be great to get new pots of Siahi and Ivy - I'm more than half out of them both. Both of them are in my top 5 most used f/ls. I love Ivy, but the original Ivy was a little bit on the sheer side and you'd need to do 2 layers. Not an issue for me, but could be a pain if you're a little shaky with lining with fluidlines. Maybe the new version will be more opaque in one pass. What are you going to wear? That's often my cue with lipstick.
I'm wearing a black dress top with skinny jeans. Was going to wear just the dress and a jacket, but it's quite cold in the evenings

Any one else notice that Silly/ Beauty Shoppe is called Beauty Shoppe on the French site? Guess that's the name Mac ended up using!

I have no idea what I want from this collection. Will probably go in store to see these lipsticks and swatch in person.

I wore Razzledazzler yesterday, which I really love considering it's a lustre, but in general I'm not overly fond of this finish. Much prefer Matte or Satin.

I prefer the name Beauty Shoppe, compared to Silly. Goes with the collection theme

Well, that gives you tons of options for a statement lip!

I find that most guys prefer a subtle lip, but one with a little brightness so it makes your lips look really juicy and full. Then there's that special other type of guy who love women in very sexy, strong colors, especially red! I think that tends to be a little bit related to the generation the guy is from…a lot of younger guys seem weirder about strong lipstick colors while the older guys from the 70's and 80's are way more into strong makeup just in general, since it was the general trend back then when they first got their tastes formed.

I know really well which lipstick shades always get me the most looks - for my skin tone, it's definitely Sushi Kiss, Reel Sexy, and Mehr - those are ALWAYS slam dunks. SK and RS look like nudes in low light on me, but with more oomph, and they really make my lips look lush. Mehr is the same way, but works for daylight and any light really - it's MLBB but super enhanced and sexy. Since your skin tone is darker than mine, I would say maybe something like Pander Me instead of Sushi Kiss to get that same effect, Private Party for sure, if you have that one, and Mehr, because Mehr is just the best for pretty much anyone. Basically jazzed up neutrals that aren't bland, but don't scream "look at my lipstick!" either. Once you're on your second date, try something vampy or red, unless you already know this guy loves the red lips, then just go straight for that instead.

Kyril would be nice for the subtle fullness. Stavros will look like a punchy nude on you, but the only thing I'd avoid about that one is it looking to grayish - not all guys can hang with the futuristic style of lipstick, with silver and pewter metallic undertones. Don't want to scare the boy!

I'd wear liner with anything you wind up choosing, since you're going to want your makeup to look flawless for the whole night without having to resort to touchups. Out of these three, I'd say Kyril first and Stavros second - see my rationale below. Well, that gives you tons of options for a statement lip! I could rock Kyril with a pink/red liner, need to look at my liners. Vino, Nightmoth, CW and Nightingale needn't apply. I think I got the perfect pink... Will check out later on, seeing that it's now Sunday morning... Or I could bring out the Oxblood

Oxblood is a huge winner - like the apricot version of Mehr. That could totally work, especially if you use a little brighter liner underneath, like Fruit Cocktail. You want a little brightness in the finish, because that's what will make your lips look extra lush in lower light. That's how Sushi Kiss/RS work for me, since they are neon bright in daylight, but get toned down in dark or red restaurant light.

Do you have Tangerine Dream or Tropical Buzz? Those are very exciting in lower light, especially if you have pigmented lips.

I do have Geniune Orange, just swatched it with Oxblood and got this:-

Off topic:- I have a lipstick emergency. Got a date on Friday and I have a feeling I wont be wearing my usual purples and navy blues. What lipstick should I go for????
First.....

Fingers are crossed that it goes really well. I guess it depends on what you are wearing. If you wear black I would wear Ruby Woo, Stunner, Kinky, Opera or Victoriana. You can also go with nude and put on Oxblood. Bottom line: Don't O.D on the makeup. Generally, most men don't like a lot of makeup. They tend to like the natural look with maybe a little lip gloss.
