Hey ladies, I don't usually post here because I don't have access to Sephora but I need some advice. I'm looking for a good everyday moisturiser, which also wears nicely under makeup. Apart from some breakout issues, which are taken care of with my night time routine, my skin is relatively normal. I'm currently using Embryolisse but I feel like it stays on top of my skin.
I ordered Clinique Moisture surge extended thirst relief, the other choices were Clinique dramatically different moisturising lotion, Kiehl's Ultra facial cream/moisturiser and Clarins Beauty flash balm (although I think the last is quite different).
Do you think I've made the right choice or should I return this? I'm open for more recommendations :)

I think so. I've always enjoyed samples of Moisture Surge but never bought it because it was more pricey than my tried and true dramatically different moisturizer. Then they reformulated dramatically different and it now causes me to break out....so sad. The gel version is nice, but doesn't moisturize me enough sometimes.

I bought the Kiehl's because of the hype, and I honestly do not get the hype....nothing special to me. Will not repurchase when I'm done. Thankfully bought during a 20% sale. Feel the same about their avocado eye cream. I don't get the Kiehl's love, but it's probably just not suited for my skin/body chemistry and is for a lot of people.

Monsy seems to know Clarins well...it's my understanding that the beauty flash balm is not a moisturizer. I have it, love it, and think it's worth the hype. It has chemicals in it (forget what their called) that actually lift and hold skin, which is why you have to apply it differently and then not mess with it. Lisa Eldridge talks about it in one of her favorite skin care videos.

I really love the Ole Henriksen moisturizer that comes in the 3 little wonders set. Goes right into the skin & you do not feel it sitting on the skin at all. Moisturizers break my skin out but this one hasn't at all. I also love the Amorepacific one as well.

Oh! I just got a sample of that kit, and now I can't wait to try the moisturizer. I'm on the hunt for a new one as well. Funny enough, moisture surge is on my short list, too.

Thank you Allie, this is very helpful! I got it at a very good price from the Cyber Monday sales, so I'll keep it. I've had the avocado cream too and I wasn't really impressed. I'm using the MAC Mineralize charged water one now and I think it's much better.
Too bad about the reformulation, I hope you find something as good or better!
I'm on a budget now and I can only afford one cream but I'm putting the BFB on my wish list.

Beauty flash balm can be - mask, overnight mask, moisturizer, primer
but it is not for everyday basic moisturizer use. It is more for urgent situations when your skin is shitty and you need good pick me up. It is truly wonderful product

Thank you, it sounds great! I'll definitely buy it at some point.

I like to rub it into my palms first to warm it up and then just press it gently against the face. It really makes you look like you had good night sleep. Just rested, more fresh. I am so dry during the winter that I often use it in the morning when I wake up with a skin like a dryed out plum

You're welcome and thanks! I'm trying to use up the Kiehl's now while looking for a new moisturizer myself. LOVED belief Aqua bomb at first, but my face reacted poorly. Not normal break out, but a ton of tiny little bumps that were skin colored. Some turned red, but they all just sat there until I stopped using it. I had about a week/week and a half of samples. Moisture Surge is one I'm considering.

The best eye cream I've ever used is actually Bobbi Brown's. It's way too expensive, though, and if it gets in my eyes it burns. I also enjoyed a Caudalie one, but I forget which one...also too expensive for me.

Yeah, I meant not as a daily moisturizer. And I completely agree! Amazing stuff!

Someone on another forum confirmed you can use the GC twice - Sephora and JCPenny. I'm going during my lunch break to see if it works.

I mean, sure. I can. However I wanted to use it in store. Also, the problem is more that Sephora doesn't do anything when I talk to CS about still sending my mail to an "old" address... regardless of the fact that it's my parents house. Plus, it has not arrived there so right now their hands are tied. I was just speaking to how usually the mail goes there. I'm in no rush though, we've got time and nothing is really catching my eye.

They are also e-mailing a copy of the gift cards. Mine arrived a few days after I got the coupon in the mail.

Like EO, I like the Ole Henriksen one (Sheer Transformation) and it works really well with their overnight skin resurfacer (Invigorating Night Treatment). If you need more moisture, since that one is pretty lightweight, you can also try the Fresh Black Tea Age Delay cream. My skin lovvvveeeed that. It's expensive but always included in little kits. I'm not sure, though, if it's otherwise available in the UK or whether it's one of the brands Sephora US ships out to the UK. I also like the Origins night-a-mins but don't love, love it.

Another rave for Clarins' Beauty Flash Balm here. When I was in college and operating on 3-4 hours of sleep most nights, I used this pretty much every day under my makeup - pressed it into my skin (concentrating on the cheeks and jawline) and it really helped with the puffiness.

 They have two separate (different) barcodes.. One for regular Sephora's..and one for JCP Sephora's.

I just logged into an email that I used to have signed up with Sephora - that account is still a BI.. and they sent a $15 off $50 coupon, even though I haven't used that account in a few years. :/

I got mine earlier today (Wednesday) :)

Good to hear! Thanks for replying, stormborn. I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled... hopefully I'll receive it by Friday. I've never received snail mail from Sephora so I am guessing it would be email.
