I want to splurge on a nice foundation since I've only ever used drugstore ones before (loreal visible lift serum absolute), but I don't even know where to begin! I want decent coverage but not too thick or cakey and my skin has dry/flaky patches so I cant do powder since that seems to accentuate my problems. I was looking at the hourglass immaculate liquid powder foundation and that seemed really nice and the lightest cool times color matches me pretty well but I just don't know. Does anyone have any recommendations?

try the new YSL one.
I know it isn't that high end, but I LOOOOOOVE lancome tiente idole (I know I messed up the spelling)
I sampled the YSL on and it was really nice. It's $62 though.
Ppl like the new Dior, and Giorgio Armani silk.
I like Bobbi Brown Long wear.
I like Nars Sheer Matte...
IF you have a store by you, get some samples...and play! If not, ask if someone can post some swatches for you. (Mrs. TT, I'll get you those YSL swatches this weekend LOL)

I've decided to add the LM bent angled brush to my list. I got a travel size one, and it is really nice.

Thank you for the referral links, I'm going to do it first come first served!!!

My mom loves Lancôme makeup maybe I should check out the one you mentioned. I'd also be down to try the ysl one I'm not really too worried about price because I just want to find something I really love. I also checked out the marc jacobs gel foundation, makeup forever matte something and UD's naked skin and I liked the feel of all those too I just don't know which to get. I guess I should go back and get some samples, I was there pretty late today so I didn't want to bug anyone when they were like 30 minutes from closing. :)

I have a theory about the codes...just a guess. I got the Rouge Dior code...the email Sephora sent me says, "Handpicked Just For You" , You love Dior so you'll obsess over this VIB Rouge exclusive...blah blah blah

So, they know I buy a lot of Dior so thats why I got the Dior code & not the other ones???
I got same thing. I buy Dior quite often.

Givenchy Mascara came with a free lipstick WOOHOO!
Dior Rouge Baume 688
Naked Basics 2

I'm the same.  I research all my high end things before I buy them so I know chances are it's going to be something I'll really like -- especially as in the UK you can't return cosmetics so if it doesn't work for you, you're out of the money and out of luck.  I have drugstore mascaras and one or two foundations I think but my fav. foundations are my high end ones. I bought one YSL lipstick but I only bought it because I had points worth cash off otherwise I never would have.. and honestly, I don't like the formula of it.  I think it's the Rouge Volupte line in the gold packaging -- it's too slippy.  The colours are beautiful but on the lips it feels like it's just melted butter.. not my kind of idea of a good lipstick formula for the price.  NARS Audacious are definitely worth the price point, I agree. Agreed.  I'll always reach for my high end over my drugstore, simply because I think "I spent a damn lot of money on that, I want my money's worth." rather than the drugstore items, albeit they are beginning to rise to MAC prices. I've just started to do this too.  I have about 5 or 6 full sized mascaras to go through but I've ordered about 6 deluxe mini's from Sephora with points and I had my bf get me the mascara set for xmas, so I'll have a ton of mini's to go through -- so much better than trying to work through a full size.
I've swatched the YSL on my hand and I could tell from there they would be too slippy. Perfect discription!
Visart is at Sephora?!!?!?!  WHAT!!!!! I wanted that matte neutral palette but it's already sold out.
I don't think it sold out. I think it just hasn't been available for sale yet. No?

new YSL ink will not work for you since you have dry patches

great thing about HE foundations is that you can always get a nice sample to try at home before buying

my suggestions :
Lancome teint miracle
Dior nude

Lucky DIL! My future MIL thinks I have too much makeup and would never buy me any. I don't know what made her think that

I'm sure you enjoy all of it though. Sometimes I just put mine in labeled tubs & hide it from everyone

Yep, my DIL is everything to me. I usually fill up her stocking with all kinds of makeup. I would love to get her a mini set of the Algenist products that I love too. Wish I would have thought about that during their 30% off sale.

Me too!

I cleared out my cart to order 3 of the Make Up Forever eye shadows (these will be my first) because the 20% didn't work on them - just to get the free Dior mini eye palette. Then after that order I filled it back up with the items for the 20% discount.

@Prettypackages

I use dipbrow in chocolate or dark brown, I have both. I use very very little of it tho. If u go with a heavier hand it gets darker/more opaque.
U can also lighten it (and give it more dimension) if u use a lighter brow gel on top (I use anastasia caramel brow gel sometimes)
:)

Those of you that forgot some goodies when you used your sale code realize if you use another email address you'll get a different code, right? Might be worth it for things you're afraid will sell out.

If you use another email address to get a new code will you still be able to order with your regular account or will you have to order on an account with the new email address.

I don't know... It's worth a try though. It won't hurt anything, right?

You can still use your regular account regardless of the email you used for the code!
