Dior Cosmetics Discussion

I went to the Dior counter yesterday and was surprised (and

) to see the autumn colors from Dior. Normally, we get the collections MONTHS after they have more or less sold out everywhere else, but this one turned up in time. Ever since I read that Dior would change their eyeshadow line I have feared to loose my head and buy like a maniac when they arrived. I am confused and slightly proud to say that I didn't buy a single one. The only colors I don't already have in several incarnations are the reds in the palette Trafalgar, and I know they won't suit me.

I wasn't interested in the nail polishes (have enough, really) so the only thing I bought was the lipstick Bar (#317). Finally, a "nude" for pale, cool skinned people who don't have pink/blue undertones. I need a lot of grey in everything - especially foudation and lipstick - and Bar really does have that. The SA said that it had made all the costumers who tried it look dead, so if I get as fond of it as I expect I better buy some back ups. I doubt it'll be in production that long.

New swatches! Including Cuir Cannage, Jardin, Victoire, Versailles... http://www.chloeash.com/2014/08/new-dior-5-couleur-eye-shadow-swatches/

And a good one of Tutu... http://www.chloeash.com/2014/08/dior-fall-2014-tutu/

Thanks for the swatches! I have to say, I've been on the fence about this palette. I didn't like that it has 2 very light shades, plus I felt that red shade was the only really original shade in the palette. I'm curious to hear how buildable you think the color is once you've had time to play with it.

I will say though that I just found this video tutorial using Trafalgar and I think it looks AMAZING. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3rJqINjH20 At the end - around 6:37 - she includes some close-up stills that really show off the colors (she uses the plummy shade at bottom right to line under the eye and it looks gorg!). The palette may not be perfect but I think I'm caving...
O h g o d ! IT IS! Brillant!
I'm going to try that out this week. Thanks for the link!
I'm going to let you know how the palette works for me for sure.

Oh and Trafalgar is limited edition, from what I read on the blog post you shared. And omg isn't Versaille to die for. O,O Have to check that out in person.

An eye using #646 Montaigne http://www.lullabees.de/2014/08/dior-fall-amu-montaigne.html

and #846 Tutu http://www.lullabees.de/2014/08/dior-fall-amu-tutu.html

Swatches of both palettes: http://www.lullabees.de/2014/08/dior-fall-5-couleurs-646-montaigne-846.html

My only foray into Dior cosmetics was about a year ago. I asked for one of the dark, vampy lipsticks from the Fall collection and the SA sold me the wrong one. By the time I noticed, it was too late to return it. -.- I also purchased the fabled Amber Diamond (which I think is discontinued now?) and, happily, it's one of the subtlest but prettiest highlighters I've got. I'm really tempted by their BB cream now, but I'm not sure.

Dior lip balms or better say baumes. They look like the RCS, but trying one of them why not, the shades are pretty and pigmented.

Those do look nice. I'll definitely look to try one of those (probably a more pigmented one) when they hit stores. Here's another pic I found, although no additional information:

I was at Shoppers Drug Mart today and they had part of the new collection out- the palette/ lipstick/ polish "sets". It was in a strangely inconvenient place on the bottom shelf of a display, so I just took a quick look. Trafalgar remains tops on my list for the palettes and I really liked the lipstick as well. Pied de Poule lipstick was also gorgeous, not as dramatic as I was expecting. It's a deep red, but it's slightly muted, a little greyed perhaps. Very nice. I shall be returning to make purchases and hopefully they'll have moved the display so that I don't have to squat like I'm about to pee in the aisle...

The BB Cream is really good. I used it up and purchased another one. Definitely one of the best out there.

Hey all... At almost 140 pages, I felt like this thread was getting a little hard to navigate, so I've created a fall collection thread (could also include the balms/ baumes) here:

Hello!

I just got Trafalgar from the new 5 couleurs, here's some swatches if it helps.

Havn't tried them yet, but all I could say is that shade 1 and 2 are poor in pigmentation when swatched. Buttttt yea... Let's see how it goes when applied on eyelids... I just couldn't let that one go even if it's permanent (I think? Didn't want to take any chances)
I have Trafalgar & I LOVE it!!!! A dense shader brush helps w/e/s 1 & 2. I love, love, love e/s 4 & e/s 3 is insanely pigmented. Awesome palette!!!

I really want Pastel Choc too! :(

So my counters got the new quints, and Tralfagar, Femme Fleur and Victoire are calling my name. I can't help but be drawn to Tutu, although the colours look so similar and shimmery. I thought the display is awesome, the quints are elevated from the usual counter, like they are on the top floor and the lipsticks and blush on the lower floor, creating a 3d structure.

I'm in big trouble!!!!

I'm going to try that out thanks!

I gave myself a challenge to just use this palette for the week, and I'm starting to enjoy it. Although you have to pack on shade 1 & 2 for them to show up, they do last extremely long, I'm quite impressed.

Oh that's sooo awesome!!!!! I'd love to hear some of your applications---like which e/s you use on the lid, one day versus another! We use the thread below (theme
makeup w/a purpose) to share looks via monthly themes & challenges not unlike the one you're doing, with using the same e/s palette for a week. Please feel free to join
us!
