The highlight powders do sound gorgeous but I have a feeling that it'll be oversprays like the Dame Edna's and Naked Honey's.

Textures will be very important too -- I see a very marked trend towards transparency -- colors will be very loud, bright but transparent so the changes in technology will be very interesting... oh yes, very interesting things coming up

I also think there is going to be an undercurrent of blue-based purples and generally cooler tones, but that that won't really get going until later in 2011. All those dreams for true purple and lavender blushes are gonna come true, girls and we're going to finally get back to silver, but now in formulas and shades that work for everyone! What do you think is coming up? |

I agree. Many companies have been producing bright products that turn out to be quite sheer and seriously beautiful! For example, the new NARS Multiple Tints and Chanel Gloss Fluos. I hope this trend continues onto MAC!

Sometimes being too far ahead of the trends had its pitfalls (like tops you couldn't wear a bra with in the age of the super push-up bra), but it was always a cool creative justification when you'd see things you were doing on well known designers' runways 2 or 3 years after you did the same.
I left clothing for a few different reasons (mostly good ones), but I still can't help smelling out those trends. Thanks for letting me know I still haven't lost my touch!

Nice stuff there, HerGreyness!!! I spent my 20's as a clothing designer, doing avant guard knit wear and custom work for videos and film. There was nothing more fun that looking at all the trends and then trying to think up the exact opposites in color, texture and silhouette. Sometimes being too far ahead of the trends had its pitfalls (like tops you couldn't wear a bra with in the age of the super push-up bra), but it was always a cool creative justification when you'd see things you were doing on well known designers' runways 2 or 3 years after you did the same.

More coral? More purple? It looks like the streak of nude-ish trend is over (well, not completely - with collections like Cham Pale ahead of us) - it makes my color-fearing soul sad
I want soft pink blushes with BPB formula (Ah Shy Beauty, how I love thee!), some GPS in reasonable colors (but I am not saying I do not like the blackened ones, no I ain't
), sculpt&shape duos to find a better match for me and some new shades of fluidlines and paintpots which is the only thing of which I miss bright colors
Oh, and of course to top it all, I would please like to have more money to be able to buy it all

Color-wise, I'd just like to see more new shades and less re-promotes. MAC always does a good job of bringing new and unique things to the customer, so I have no doubt that we'll see more innovation next year!
