lame, i know. sorry! but that's all i keep thinking of when i read about her being the icon...

lol.gif
Grease... I love it! But geeze, at this rate, I am wondering if we will ever see a new fluidline again? There hasn't been a new one since Antiquitease, and not one in sight, at least through September...

I think a "Grease" themed collection would be so cool!
yes.gif
Olivia would be perfect, in that case.

David Bowie - If they ever do an Icon collection for a male then THIS is the one I want to see!! I would be all over it

If they did a Grease theme it would be cool if they had two palettes, one that was a T-Bird palette and a Pink Ladies palette. Can you just imagine all of the cool colors? Didn't they have a Rizzo lipstick before? They could re-release that! Ohhh...please MAC do a Grease collection!

I like the idea of Cher, Tina Turner, Madonna and Olivia Newton John. I think Sally Field has aged well too. I really like her (though I don't know how icon-esque she is).
smiles.gif

I know that Christina Agulera and Dita and Debbie Harry have been mentioned, but I think since they have already participated in the Viva Glam campaign, they should be exempt. We need a new face!

I was thinking of mentioning Princess Diana!!! But then i thought about all the wonderful & crazy shades MAC comes up with and i think Princess Di always had a more natural look going on. She was stunning though!

When i think icon, i think of someone flamboyent, glamourous, sultry, & accomplished! I also see them a little on the older side (i think all the past icons were?) but it also makes us, the newer generation, appreciate that old world beauty! Madonna would be a great choice but for some reason i think she would think she's "too good" for MAC. I can't see her doing it! Gwen Stefani would be good too but i think she'd probably market her own line by herself! I didn't even think of Lucille Ball! So many iconic women! I hope its none of the Viva Glam people either. Been there, done that!

I think it would be cool if they did a John Waters Icon collection. He is so out there that they would think of some really good colors! I am so bored today and this thread really gets me daydreaming about MAC!

OMG please stop. Now I'lll be waiting for this collection and it may never come. This is suchhhhhhh a cute idea and I'd so freaking buy it.

U guys have some nice ideas. I don't agree with half of the people named (lmao). Don't like Gwen Stefani and shes not an Icon. I think Kylie Monogue might be a good choice, and Tina Turner. Not Oprah (haha....all the middle aged ladies that go to her shows would be swarming to MAC. She'd probably give everyone in the audience their very own MAC store)

I don't know who it'll be, but I've never been around for an Icon collection. Someone said in the other Icon thread that it was someone "campy"....?

Someone on specktra knows who it is.

But IIRC, the Raquel Welch ICON Collection wasn't full of crazy colors, sure there were a couple...but of course there was the packaging. I think a Princess Di would be a fantastic collection. She stood for everything that a MAC ICON should be.

I think the Catherine D. collection was pretty muted too. The Thunder quad was full of very wearable, not crazy, colors. I wasn't thrilled with the Raquel collection at all. I passed on the entire thing.

Re: MAC Icon Discussion 2008

i did ask my coworker again if she remembered and she said no. another coworker said she had heard who it was too but also couldn't remember. damnit what's wrong with these people!? the one did say that the icon is 50-ish or so and white. that really narrows it down.
th_rolleye0014.gif

lets hope she remembered this much correctly.

edit: i forgot to add that she said if she recalls correctly its an actress. and its not kylie.

so:

50-ish, white, actress. hmmm...

Gee, well that doesn't give much hope for someone that is well known. I'd think if it were someone as famous as Cher, or Olivia or Sarah Jessica, it would be easy to remember...

Thanks Erine for your efforts!

You need to take your co-worker in the back room and keep her there till she remembers!

OMG thank you for saying that! i can't stand oprah for one thing, but her makeup sucks ass! you are my friend now.

how is SJP an icon? i don't get it.

anyway, with iman having her own makeup line, i don't see her collaborating with mac for anything.

The whole campy thing got my fellow MAC friends talking, When I mentioned "campy" my friend's mother declared that Bette Midler is the definition of campy!

Bette Midler

Re: MAC Icon Discussion 2008

Well SJP might not be an icon now but I can see her as one in 20 years if she continues the way she is going now. Of course that is just my opinion!
