LOL i'm surprised nobody mentioned Oprah as an icon!!! But i would definetlt NOT be into that!!!

I never even heard of Raquel Welch or Catherine Deneuve until those collections came out!!! Raquel Welch's name sounded familiar but thats it! I actually liked the RW collection but not the CD one!

I think ABBA would've made a good choice if they were still on speaking terms!

Ohhh!! I agree w/ Deborah Harry, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, and Tina Turner Most Definitely!!! Thought Tina Turner is the most Iconic.

and yeah, what the crap? Angelina Jolie? She is in no way an icon, and so far neither is Gwen Stephani... Im just sayin...

Hmm...what about Madonna? Granted she's not that young, but early 50s is pretty young anymore with as long as people are living nowadays.

God, if they did Oprah...MAC would probably make enough off her army of minions they could close up shop! But I...would have to find a new makeup line to drool over.

Oprah's makeup always sucks. Always a brown/black smokey eye, a plummy lipstick, and UGLY contouring around her nose. And she keeps having like, grey concealor under her eyes. It's just not working!! Maybe a MAC collection would HELP her get the hint that her current makeup just isn't cutting it.

I had a dream the other night that Princess Diana was announced as the next ICON. How awesome would a princess collection be?

I like the idea of Cher, Tina Turner, Madonna and Olivia Newton John. I think Sally Field has aged well too. I really like her (though I don't know how icon-esque she is).

I know that Christina Agulera and Dita and Debbie Harry have been mentioned, but I think since they have already participated in the Viva Glam campaign, they should be exempt. We need a new face!

Re: MAC Icon Discussion 2008

My 78 year old grandmother and I were discussing this topic. I asked her if she could pick anyone, who would she want to see as the next MAC Icon,
Granted please keep in mind she's 78, but she still loves her MAC l/s.
But I loved her answer-she chose Lucille Ball, even if MAC never chose her as an icon I'd still love to see a Lucille Ball collection.

Re: MAC Icon Discussion 2008

Wasn't there another thread on Specktra about Icon 08?!?

I think the clue was 'a person that not many people may now.' It could be Kylie, she's not that popular in the States.

It could be Andre J. also! He's not well known at all, and he's a vision of happiness! He represents gay rights, equality and freedom of expression. I think MAC is supportive of gay rights & freedom of expression?? (Plus MAC hasn't done a men's collection yet like they normally do, it could be a 2 in 1 collection.)

Whoever it is, I'm sure it'll be cool on some level.
