Now that you mention it I remember the Welch BPs. That was right when I started buying MAC, so things are a little hazy.

I think the lavender packaging is pretty barfadacious. =/ I however, have faith in the product being lovely. I certainly hope so, since people here are going to be afraid of a purple haired drag queen collection. ;-;

Like MAC Whore said, every once and a while there will be a special packaging that does not include the MAC logo on the compacts; Catherine Deneuve, Raquel Welch, Barbie Loves MAC, and Fafi to name a few.

P.S......ladies just to give you a heads up my trainer told me Dame Edna is just a collection to anniversary the Originals.....she is not the beauty icon.....

OMG, a John Waters collection would be hysterical.
Can you imagine the color names?

My vote for an Icon Collection would be, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow, David Bowie, and Marilyn Manson.

in regards to the Red Hat Ladies, I remember one time when I was at my local Mall and it was like the entire mall had been taken over by the purple and red ladies. Apparently, it was a convention for the RHLS that weekend. I had never seen so much purple and red in one place in my entire life. But other than that, I do love the packaging.

well i haven't read everyones posts but this is what i know so far...

dame edna IS the new beauty icon
the collection is due for release dec08/jan09
she has a purple bikini line
****** the lipstick is called "KANGAROUGE"****** wich makes me wee =p
the packaging is AMAZING.... lavender w/ red glasses and little diamonds =]

i know this because...
*there is a video..... although i can't say how i have seen it =p not that it would really matter if i did but i just can't!!! =p
*beauty icon packaging doesn't always have the mac logo imprinted on it!
*M.A.C only use celebrities as either icons or for viva glam!!!! =]

I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. I dont care if the colors are ugly, I'm gonna have to have the whole collection just on packaging and Dame Edna's character alone. I cant wait till October to go to update and get all the info.

David Bowie would be soooo freakin' cool!! Imagine the colours!! OMG I soooo hope they bring out a DB collection, like next year or whatever. And Marilyn Monroe would just ooze elegance and sex appeal - I'm thinking cats eyes and lots of red glossy lips. I want one of those collections!! I'm still excited about Dame Edna though.
