Dear unethical blogger who constantly steals our info yet fails to credit it:

When you use one of our pictures and colour collection info that has been posted on another site, the picture/info credit is still Specktra.

Just thought you should know for the next time you are cruising Specktra for info.

Regards,

Oh damn those face charts look hot! I'd probably put more color on my cheeks than in the face charts but I am a blush freak.

I really dig Dame Edna so this collection is gonna hurt me.

My favourite was probably after I left a certain blogger a comment regarding a lack of sources cited: for a period afterward said blogger cited her source as herself (internal). Does that mean said blogger was pulling the information out of her bottom?

Why yes it does. It's when someone references something from WikiRectalpedia. Internal=Rectal.

Or perhaps it just miracled itself onto the site.

One of my favourites is when we were sourced with a link, but it was spelled wrong, so the link didn't work. Classy.

Sure it could have been a mistake. I make mistakes too. BUT, given said person's pattern of mistakes, it's suspect.

If things are miracle-ing themselves onto the site, she must hold the world record for highest number of miracles!

Sounds like some sexy typing takes place over there every now and then. There are some... special mistakes that pop up occasionally. As for Rectalpedia, I'll have to ask my boyfriend about it. Maybe he can teach me, for I clearly have been missing out. The sources they've failed to teach me about in university courses! Sheesh.

Hmm, I think I might be getting cold feet with this collection. I so so wanted a compact but am not crazy about the overspray thing. Maybe I'll still get one of the eyeshadow palettes, I'm definitely getting possum nose pink (I think!).

I guess I'm in the minority here with understanding all of this discord over "she who cannot be named" (which I still don't understand since it seems like so many Specktra fans are fans of hers as well). Frankly, the whole thing seems catty and sad to me. I'm sure this will make me very unpopular but at the ripe old age of 37, it all just strikes me as childish and immature.

I guess she must have really done something majorly horrible to someone to cause such hate but then again, like I said, I don't know the background. Frankly, I enjoy her reviews and though I don't know her personally from Adam, she comes across as warm, friendly and helpful....like the ladies on THIS site.

I wish we could just all get along and play nice. But then again, perhaps she stole someone's boyfriend and I'm just unaware of it. In any event, you could always try to send her a message requesting that she remove your images or give proper credit. Just how I'd handle it, I guess.

Diplomatic efforts have, in the past, gone largely unnoticed.
Unethical behavior is unethical behavior, particularly within the blogosphere and publishing realm...more work than most realize actually goes into creating the blog, citing member sources, posting articles, keeping track of color stories (HUGE shout out to Jen for that) and swatches (I bow before Lara and her amazingness with that front...), and having it not only our membership but also our professional hard work either completely cribbed or at the very least, incorrectly sourced is just a shady, wrong thing to do.

I must be completely obtuse then, since I am on both sites religiously and haven't seen the gross examples of such dishonesty. I have certainly seen the couple of instances which were specifically pointed out but that's where the similarity in the two sites ends for me. My apologies for my misinformed status. I agree it's wrong for anyone to plagiarize another site's work.

All I know is I love the mods on this site - they are fantastic people -, and I appreciate every second they put into it, because I spend a lot of time here and Ive made great friends because of it. And due to those facts, anyone who rips off their hard earned work is at the bottom of my books, period.

Thank you!

And just in general I can say: It doesn't hurt to name the the original source if you use anyone else's pictures or information and appreciate their work this way. It doesn't hurt to make advertisement for specktra this way - every MAC fan will find their way to this awesome site sooner or later anyway
