I saw the eye palettes and lip bags today IRL
and here are my thoughts:
Cool Palette: looks like every other cool palette that MAC has released: blues, pinks, purples. Nothing too exciting, but I'm not a cool eyes type of girl so I didn't spend much time looking at this.
Smokey Palette: Surprisingly one of my favorites! The colors are all really safe neutrals, so you can do a smokey eye or a basic simple eye as well.
Mostly satins/mattes so it's not going to be sparkly eye or anything crazy. I thought I wouldn't be interested in it b/c I have barely touched last year's smokey palette but this one seems a lot more usable! I'm going to order it tonight!
Classic: The blue and green are just as erine said, lustrey.
The green is one hot sparkly mess, it's quite a disappointment, where as the blue is a little better but not very impressive. There is a light pink in this palette that is quite lovely, but the color pay off is not fantastic.
Warm: I pre-ordered this one because the colors are all seemingly versatile. There's nothing outlandish in here, and there's a nice burgundy red, olive green, etc. The tan peach color is great! I am sure I'll be using it a lot! All in all very impressive and the best in terms of being not too crazy but also adds more color than the smokey eye.
AND the lip bags:
Wasn't impressed with ANY of these, particularly b/c they are all light finishes like lustre/glazes. I think they would've been better in different vibrant finishes, IMO.
The red bag: is nice if you want both a blue-ish red and a yellow-ish red.
The neutral bag: the lightest color reminds me a lot of 1N in that it's a glaze (i think) and doesn't apply any color! Useless! The darker color is a little better but appeared too dark for my complexion (nw 20).
The rose bag: was the best, but I'm not fond of rose colors so I passed. But finish wise and color wise I thought it was decent!
I posted swatches of the warm and classic but be warned, they are horrible swatches! I didn't expect to see the palettes today so I didn't bring my camera, just my crappy phone! lol.
