Re: MAC-Adoring Carmine/Passionately Red/Passions of Red/Little Darling Discussion

I have both full size and SE brushes but I had wanted to get this year's holiday brush set untill I saw them IRL!

Geez I thought the handles were going to be a metallic red but it's like a fire truck red. Bleh....loooks cheap and I already have full sizes of ALL of the brushes.

My opinion on Full Size vs. SE brushes

Overall, I think that if you can't afford the full size brushes then start with the SE brushes. Some have an 'okay' quality and some have a bad quality. I think when it comes to the eyeshadow blending brushes (ex: 224, 217) they're pretty decent. The 266 and 209 are stiff brushes, luckily these brushes are like cheapest in the full size versions. The face brushes are ok they're a bit scratchy. The last brush set that I bought was from 2006 and it seems like over some time the quality has been decreasing.

In the end...you get what you pay for...I think the full size brushes are good investments, don't try to go out there and buy every single brush. Just buy the full size versions of the ones that you need.

Yeah Fire Truck Red is the color to describe them! They look like they were just dipped in paint. :\ Its not a vibrant red as I hoped it would be. Oh well, more money in my pocket.

I honestly don't think this year's holiday collection will be fab as last year's. Yes, they are entirely different collections but lets be honest here, the brushes quality is decreasing, the lippies were nothing unique, the MES trios are questionable. I think the only things too look forward to are the carmine lip bags, dazzleglasses and eye palettes.

I agree and after I saw the swatches of the MES trios I didn't even bother to go look at them in person and I usually like the MES e/s. I was going to get the brushes because of the red but after the reviews I'm skipping them. I have them in full size anyway. I did think last year's holiday brushes were pretty good. Last year I bought pretty much all of the holiday collection. Something I will not be doing this year. But that's ok because with so many collections in the past few months I've spent a friggin fortune.

I want my palettes and sets now

It is not fair we have to wait one more time! I am used to wait for new collections here, but waiting for the holiday collection is the worst time of the year.

^ me too! I have to wait 2 days longer because I'm attending a Mac seminar class and you need to do a $50 purchase so the manager said it would be best if I pay for it then so I don't need to pay an additional $50. I don't need to worry about them disappearing though, she got them on hold for me
smiles.gif

I'm really excited about the seminar because it's the first seminar where it's 'hands-on'. Meaning that there's going to be a table and about 5 guests per table with one artist. So I guess a demo will be going on and you create the look yourself using the tools and products provided.

Previous seminars I attended it was more like a you watch the demo and take notes on it which was kind of boring to me. Passing of products and brushes around so guests could feel and see the products. The MUAs always laugh because it just skips over me and on to the next guest.

I can't wait for the goodie bags and the freebies that they give out. I won Ether MES and Yogamode Beauty Powder, 2 out of the 4 gifts that were handed out. My MUA was cheering me on..."That's my Mac Addict!" ahaha

I'll let y'all know how it goes!

I don't know - the Neutral has 1 Lustre and 1 Glaze - not sure if Red and Rose will be the same...

I think its perfectly alright to cancel & order online. If it saves you time & money - yes

It saves me so much in taxes to order online. Sometimes almost 3-4%

I mean it's not like I have a special connection with my sales girl, but I also don't want to create hard feelings or anything. Is this lame or what would my specktra friends do (WWSD)?

I think I'm only going to get the rose lip bag and the cool pigments. Good restraint from me. Oh, and the eye and face brushes, but they don't count. Not really.

I was not impressed at all with the MES trios but now I'm second guessing all of them! lol. I'm like "oh that one's pretty and so is that one". I think the formula is better than ones prior and I feel like one can achieve different looks with the MES esp with them wet. I dunno, I'm trying to stay away from MAC since I spent way too much yesterday!

That's so awesome, I hope you have fun- I'm going on Nov 8 to ours but it's like prom/homecoming makeup - which will be helpful but I'm kinda past that age, lol. Oh well I hope they have goodie bags for us too!

I saw someone on lj posted pics & said that the Basic Brush Set came with a red canister(like the Little Darlings set)but the face Brush Set didn't come with it. Does anyone know if the Eye Brush Set comes with a canister? I keep my brushes in an Antiquitease canister from last year & would love a new red one but am only getting the eye brushes.

Why do they keep selling glaze lipsticks, no one wants tinted lipbalm, if I wanted that I can get a tinted lip conditioner because tendertones don't count because they are awesome, especially Pucker.

I think I have my list, which I'll order tonight

Neutral and Rose Lip bags, Smokey and Cool eye palate.

My only ? mark is for the brushes. Are they really not worth the 58$. I don't want them for me, I'd rather invest in full size, I have all the ones in the eye kit, and have enough to get my by face wise for my skills (I'd rather wait till 2009 when I can get an appointment at a counter to get face brushes so someone can show me how to use them on me...

But I have a couple friends who are just getting into makeup and I know they (or last I checked) don't have brushes, and they are not in a position to be spending bick bucks on brushes themselves, but I thought if they were good for a starter kit they would make nice christmas gifts. The two girls I'm thinking of buying for only deserve the best! So for my BFF I was thinking of geting the eye and the basic kit, and my other best gal the eye kit? I don't know... but if they're not that great maybe I should just get them MAC gift cards? I don't know if I like the gift card idea somehow I think it will be easier for them to accept a brush set than the gift card because with a gift card they'll know exactly how much I spent on them... and that feels a bit weird.

The brush sets would be very nice gifts for your friends, you are so nice to think of them. They are great starter brushes IMO, and while they're not quite as nice as the full size ones, they are worth the price, and it will give them all the necessary eye brushes or face brushes or whatever.
