I've never bought a brush set before. I was going to get the eye brush set. Is it maybe not worth it since people are saying they don't look nice in person?

I can't do that because the closest MAC counter is 2 hours away and I can only order from them on the phone.

I think I might just get the Basic Brush kit, the Enchanting eye bag (because I need a new blacktrack anyways), and maybe the cool or smokey eye palette.

And absolutely the warm and cool pigment sets, I always get them

FYI - the Enchanting Vermillion eye kit is a Nordstrom exclusive. At least that's what they told me when I was there this past week.

Cons? Hmm...maybe just price for the full-size. You can get 5 brushes in the kit for the price of 2 full size brushes, so they're more money. BUT, the full size are guaranteed for life, so if they crap out on you, you can get them replaced for free. The full-size tend to be softer and more flexible (although that's not always the case) and the handles won't have the potential to chip as the sets will.

They told me the lip bags were also a Nordstrom exclusive, is that correct? There was a sign up saying "Exclusively Ours" - but it's on MAC's website, so I dunno.

I was at Nordstrom today and was able to check out the brush sets in person (they are pre-order only, but they had samples out).

The only one I will be getting is the Eye set. The Basic set I found to be of lesser quality (the 129 looked/felt terrible to me); however, for someone just starting with brushes it might be OK. The only brush I liked in the Face set was the 187, the other brushes did not impress me at all. The 190 brush especially felt scratchy/stiff to me.

Looking forward to when the pigment sets are released.

There are no cons to the full-size brushes IMO, aside from the price.

I was at Nordstrom today and the MA used the 217 to apply Select Moisture Cover on me. Worked like a charm, really buffs the pigment nicely into the skin.

Erine, Thanks so much for the swatches. I thought about getting the Rose and Neutral but now that I look at them I think that maybe the Rose is too "Barbie-ish" for me and that the Neutral is too brown. I dunno. I have to see them in person I suppose. Thanks again.

the rose gloss is very barbie/bubble gum, but the neutral set is very pretty. the darker lipstick is kinda VG V-ish, and the other is nanogold-like. the gloss is like prrr but without the metallic frost.

i'm not a fan of any brushset period, but if money/brush experience is an issue, its a great way to start out. they're also really great for travel. i prefer full size brushes over the minis anyday. the quality just can't be matched.

but, theyse aren't bad. the red handle is not a good red, but the feel of these is good. the only one that sucks is the #266. they can never seem to get this one right.

I just got my pre-orders yesterday! =] I posted swatches on the swatch thread. I'm absolutely in love with the Rose Lips Set and the Cool Pink Lips palette! I wish the lip palette came in regular lippies because I'm not a big fan of using lip brushes but they're still pretty.

I got the face brush set too and without even using them the difference in quality is really visible. The 190 SE is nowhere near the full size, but I really need a travel set because having my full size brushes jumbled in my bag all day gives me cold sweats thinking about how wonky the bristles could be! =X
