I'm having trouble with the idea that the pigments cost that much. They'd have to be really special. I guess we shall see. I think that both sound lovely, but there are so many other things I want from Mac and from others coming up (or already out) that I'm hesitant to commit to a huge budget for this one.

I believe that the nude lippie is supposed to be cool in tone, so it should work on fairly light, cool complexions.

I understand the need for the price hike to pay for the couture collaboration, but this time of the year I really get tapped out buying presents, airfare (it ain't cheap, esp. with gas price hikes and they know you have to travel on the holidays, so the really gouge you) so I don't think I can afford the price hike here for this collection. Which sucks, because I like edgy and I love the geometric packaging. I honestly think I will skip. I would look like a jersey hooker if I tried to contour, so I guess I can skip on Strada p/b or get it later from Pro in pan form if I feel deprived. Not to be a debbie downer, but I like MAC for the affordability in combination with the quality and uniqueness, so this collection really edges past the affordability range for me--since I want to buy more than one product. I guess I will probably cave and buy something, but I tend to skip the couture collections just because the prices are a little too much. Not that it will stop me from trying to dupe colors I like. I will try and live vicariously through you fellow specktra-ites haulage!

I'd say the Couture collection is MAC's attempt to serve a different customer than the usual customer-base. Those who are willing to splash $$$ will be happy with the exciting packaging and probably get every product including BU's, whereas others can at least afford a few smaller-ticket items.

Venturing out in different price segments is quite common in the fashion world, so I appreciate MAC's strategy to broaden their potential customer base.

Personally, the Couture collections are always my favorite one of the year because of the special packaging. I get rather bored with the regular black - and somehow tacky looking - packaging. And having an arts background, I appreciate the effort put into the design of the packaging, for which I am willing to spend more. It would be really sad not to value the design aspect. However, I can understand that not everybody will be able to afford the Couture collection, but it does not make sense to me to complain about prices (I don't mean to offend anybody). Nobody forces us to buy MAC and/or the Couture collection, and nobody will die if they don't get their hands on it either.

Finally, I second martiangurll's approach of "living GP vicariously through" those who buy it. Great thinking. Let's be merry and celebrate that MAC comes up with so many great ideas.

I think I would be able to fork over more if it wasn't budget crisis time--holidays I get stretched thin. I do appreciate the art, even if I don't spend the cash. Ultimately for me, its about how the product looks on my face. I don't think the regular black packaging is so tacky. Now, don't get me started on the faux gold EL packaging however, puh--leeze

I changed my mind and will be skipping this collection, it's not that exciting looking to me anymore. I like nude lippies but not a "grayed" nude, this does not seem like it will be very attractive.
The nail polishes look nice but will probably look like a bunch of others in that color family recently put out by Orly,OPI,China Glaze etc. Nothing too special. I missed Strada before its disc. but i'm not going to get gouged just to get it. Final verdict: SKIP IT ALL.

I'm totally skipping this too. Too nude & the dark colors are too vampish for my taste. I'm a bright pastel colored gal.

I'd like to get a few things from this collection but I just can't afford it, and there is at least 3 to 4 things I am interested in. I was going to make a perm stuff purchase instead.
I still wouldn't mind looking at swatches though.

i just hope i get a decent amount of commission next month because i have to buy christmas gifts before i buy my mac haul.. i hope i have enough to buy all that i want from this collection!

I still love what we have seen of this. I hope we get swatches soon.
I love the couture collection (usually. Did not like MW from last year however) and try to budget all year for it. This year has been tough with the economy and price hikes but I skipped alot (Sephora F&F, most of the other fall/winter collections, etc) so I should be able to pick up a few pieces to love. Plus I don't feel a rush if I can't do it all in one haul. Couture pieces tend to be around for awhile. Mac online still had some Marcel Wanders pieces last time I checked.
