So, being a newbie to makeup and even newer to MAC, this is my second collection and the first that I actually got when it was released ( I just picked up the venemous villain two weeks ago). . This is what I managed to get:

Feline Kohl Power
I Get No Kick Eye Kohl
Gel l/s
Quiet, Please l/s
Let Me Pop paint pot
Dangerous Cuvee paint pot
Striaght to head lipgelee
Bubble Lounge lipgelee

Currant lipliner (random, I know)

Nothing caught my eye yesterday but I plan on doing some more swatching of the Stylishly You collection today. I plan on getting at least a lipstick and a cream colour base.

Holy Cow - So I have to reaffirm my LOVE for Let Me Pop pp!!!!

I used my finger to "push" the color onto my eyelid. OMG this color is the most GORGEOUS elegant fabulous even day wearable es - I LOVE it on.

With It I used Benefits brand new blush in Bella Bamba

which is absolutely beautiful on. Its a more pinker/corally Nars orgasm blush with subtle gold shimmer & makes the cheeks look sculpted & beautiful.

Then I used Chanel's new Peregrina lipstick which was so perfect with the above blush & shadow. Its a fabulous pink based peach. One of the most beautiful peach lipsticks ever.

This collection didn't impress as expected. I really liked the look of Chilled on Ice paintpot as it reminded me of Vanilla pigment but I just don't know since it seemed to lose that shiny wet effect once it dryed. DC was the only product that was sold out, but I bet my other MAC stll has it. The Rose Ole powder was all crusted up like the Rose Romance powders and I barely got any pigment pay-off. Chez Lame was better in texture but it was very yellow for my skintone.

I am still wondering about Chilled on Ice, if it will still look nice after it dries. Also, the name reminds me of my beloved Champagne. hehe

I find it funny how on boxing day, every store has sale advertisements except MAC and therefore was pretty empty. They should get on with the Christmas Spirit!

I just love dangerous curvee so much in the pot.....I spent an hour trying despreatly to get something out of it. I finally finished a silver gunmetal smokey eye I could live with when I decided to take off one eye and start over using a different base instead of a base and then dangerous curvee.

On the right eye I Have dangerous curvee all over , electra in the inner corner and ud gunmetal in the crease.

On the left eye I have nyx pots and pans all over, and the same saddows and placement. except DC

Dangerous curvee just dulled my shaddows and made my eyes look goopy and rough...I wanna like it soooooooo much Im gunna keep trying. any suggestions? I used a 217 to place it.

On my cheeks I have tickle me pink ccb which I loveeeee and honour pb over it.

And on the lips, which need a picture of their own. MAC's Pink Friday l/s <3<3<3 with Sin-tillation over it.

I hated sin-tillation at first but over lip stick its beautiful!!!!

sin-tillation over pink friday, LOVE IT! Thanks for the look. I've been playing around with Pink Friday and I never would have thought to pair to two. I'm going to go back to the counter tomorrow and pick that up.

I can't make my Vintage Selection PP work. Sparkles everywhere. I hate taking things back but I think I have to with this one.

I was going to pass this collection up entirely, but I ended up nabbing Dangerous Curvee paint pot. It was much sparklier than I thought it would be. I would definitely wear it alone or try to make a gray smoky eye with it...then again, I always say that I'm going to do gray smoky eyes and rarely do!

I'm considering Chez Lame because I like the silver shimmer, but then again, I can probably get the same look from my Shimpagne MSF.

It sure as hell isn't. It's almost as much of a dud as I expected it to be when news of it first broke.

On appearances, I would agree with both of you, because I can't see this collection having a super-wide appeal. However, I passed one of the Mac counters in the Bay this afternoon (not shopping, but I couldn't help but go in for a look) and they were sold out of Flustered, Bubble Lounge and one other lip gelee. If I had to guess, I'd say that they've done the same thing that they did with Marcel Wanders (which likewise had items sell out in stores, despite the fact that I doubt it sold that well), which is that they severely restricted the number of each unit sent to stores. Maybe they did a smaller than usual run... Either that or maybe people in Montreal are just more into being glittery than in other places (it is possible).

Also figured I'd try some of these products out today... Here's my Cham-Pale look:

Eyes-
Vanilla e/s as highlight
AllRaces e/s on inner part of lid
Vintage Selection p/p on outer half of lid
Mothbrown e/s on outer V and into outer part of crease
Smolder e/l on upper and lower lid (lash and water line)
I Get No Kick e/l on inner corner
False Lashes mascara

Cheeks
Strada blush
Perfect Topping MSF

Lips
Plum l/l
Bubble Lounge l/g

Nails
Very Important Platinum

It worked out pretty well and I found that the matte/ velvet colour on the eye played down the frostiness. I didn't get any fallout of creeping glitter on my face or, more importantly, in the crow's feet around my eyes. VIP is much like any other metallic shade to me, in that there are some inevitable lines in the finish, but it's not what I would call streaky. It's really just a question of whether or not that's going to bother you. For a night look, I think I'm going to switch out the lips with Chanel's Rouge Laque Dragon.

I was originally bummed that my Pro store was out of Vintage Selection and Dangerous Cuvee paint pots when I was in on Thursday (the girl told me they sold out the day they put the collection in store...Monday!), but now I think I'm going to save my money and skip them entirely. The sparkles would drive me crazy, I'm sure! I think, in this case, I'll stick to my Benefit Creaseless Creams and my Estee Lauder cream shadows. I did, however, pick up Bubble Lounge lip gelee (gorgeous, but going to use sparingly because of the glitter) and Dark Diversion fluidline (gorgeous!) from Stylishly Yours ;-)

Katred, you hit on several aspects of why some collections are successful and why others are less successful -- demographics have a lot to do with it. Some areas of the U.S., Canada and other parts of the world adore glitter... others prefer shimmer/sheen, or mattes. MAC has been going thru a lot of changes and experimenting with it's prices/sizes and also product tweaks -- none of the Champale is really unique in colouration as I have mentioned before. That some people like it, and some don't is an indicator of the success of the collection... just from reading here, I see a 50-50 percentile.

I think the whole Wanders collection, as lovely as it looked, and as prestigious an architect as Wanders is, was a money mistake... they are hurting badly on that one because the price points were way over the demographics of MAC products which are geared to the younger woman. Rodarte was another big mistake -- again, nothing that MAC did or didn't do, it was the concept which went awry and the protests started pouring in, so yes, it was politically incorrect... as dumb as I think that is when it comes to makeup.

I know I shouldn't say this, but I mentioned this many months ago, I had decent holding of EL stock, which I sold, simply because I think that no matter how they tweak year end nos., the MAC Division will not hold up with the other EL divisions... yes, GAGA, VV, THB did good business. but really how long can that go on? We will see what happens with 2011 -- I am now working on 2012 so in essence I come here to remind me of what I already looked at, forgot or put away --

Just went to the counter. I LOVED this collection in person. I got Rose Ole, Sin-illation, Bubble Lounge, Chilled on Ice, I Get No Kick, and Soiree. Everything was on my list except Sin-tillation. I'm pretty sure I'm going back for the quad tomorrow, that was gorgeous too and I don't own any of those shades.
