Re: MAC Cult of Cherry Collection Discussion

i think i am going to get spiced chocolate because it looks very earthy looking and i don't have much of those shades. if i had to guess for dupes though i would say mythology, cranberry and maybe something a bit lighter than smut.
th_dunno.gif
as for nanogold i think it's unique and gorgeous.

i hate the fact that i have outgrown every traincase and my fridge looks like a beauty supply store. hungry....here have a lipstick ! not to mention that i don't have enough time to enjoy the stuff i get and it gets stuck at some corner until i remember that i bought it. Collections are to close together please mac not so many !

Re: MAC Cult of Cherry Collection Discussion

I totally agree with everyone. Especially with me being a poor college student, I absolutely cannot buy everything that I want. The collection I really regret spending a lot on was Fafi. I have a few lipsticks from that collection that I really should not have bought. (Not So Innocent and Flash and Dash! and Fafi Eyes 2 Quad..) But I can't get rid of them because I won't sell used lip things. That packaging REALLY suckered me in! The thing is though, even if there are things we might regret purchasing, we CAN find ways to figure out how to use them (unless they are absolutely horrid with our skin coloring you know and reworking them a million times won't make it look right!) Not So Innocent and Flash and Dash might not be usuals for me, but I'm pretty sure if I sat down and tried to make new looks, etc, I can find a use for them. So even if you may regret buying some things, look at them as opportunities to try something new or as a challenge to use them or make them look right!
greengrin.gif
Turn regret into something new you absolutely love I say!
yahoo.gif

For example, for me, I LOVE red lipsticks! And they look great on me. But I don't have much occasion to wear them. I barely touch my fuchsia lippies and my red ones. Yet, I have like.. 3 fuchsia lippies, and I barely reach for them because Corals and Nudes are much nicer every day colors. So, much as I would LOVE to get the red lippies from Cult of Cherry or even the red one from Colour Forms, I probably shouldn't because 1 is enough. I barely use Queen's Sin from Antiquitease as it is, though some days I will for the hell of it.

It's still fun and exciting to see what MAC will bring next. We have to remember that it's fun to love it and share with others what we love. However, at the end of the day, it's just make up and even if you don't get that color that you wanted from this collection or that collection, you can still wake up the next day and get along without it, even if it seems like you can't today. You can always use your old stuff and rediscover it, as Audrey has told us before. That makes it easier for me to not buy so much stuff.

On November 17th this year I will have my final examination! After two years as a teacher under observation I will be allowed to teach on my own then, if I pass. Why should I not.

I had a dream last night again:
I was in my final examination, wearing a red pullover and a red lipstick from Cult of Cherry
greengrin.gif
What does this dream tell me? I should take a look on the lipsticks and mattenes now.

I agree with everyone who says MAC has taken a lot of the excitement away from their collections by bringing out too many at a time. It means I can no longer buy what I want because if I did I'd go broke. Just because MAC is bringing out more collections doesn't mean I'll be buying more products. It means I'll be buying less things from each collection and feeling disappointed that I missed out on things I wanted to buy.

Note to MAC: Buying make-up should not be a stressful event! Please don't spoil the joy of buying make-up by bringing out so many collections that we can't keep up with them. I know it's a business, but at the moment if feels like they're just cynically trying to sell us the same products, by releasing the same colours over and over again with different names in LE form. No way to treat loyal customers!

I've gotten to the point where I look at a collection like Cool Heat or Naughty Nauticals and skip most of it, because I simply won't do the colors justice. Having been into MAC for a couple of years now, I also don't feel as pressured to buy it all from a collection anymore. What is great about that now is, that when I do buy an item (Solar White, Illegal Cargo, Port Red) it is more special for me because I'm only getting the ones that I think I'll love from a collection. Usually because of that, those items tend to get more usage than when I mass-buy from a collection like Heatherette. I'm not as overwhelmed like a kid in a candy store not knowing which item to wear first. Maybe I'm deluding myself, but I feel like I'm getting the pick of the litter, so to speak, when I shop that way.

But onto this collection: for light olive NC25ish me, this collection is heaven. Deep red and plum lipsticks and glosses. Yummy Chocolate, navy and smoky violet laden quads. And plum and soft neutral blushes. Sigh.
This is so my type of collection.
Is Fall here yet?

Yep! Thats what I do. Except for the Blushes, then I got a buy em like flavors of jelly beans

a little bit of each flavor

I completely agree Susanne. While it's "just" makeup, I enjoy it so much and consider it a "hobby". While my husband enjoy sitting in front of the TV playing his video games and drinking his beer to unwind, I go and stand in front of the mirror and play with makeup to relax. Sounds silly, but it makes me happy. And since I have little boys and am always concerned with making sure they are taken care of and have everything they need, buying MAC is my way of doing something for myself. I really do love it.

The way you feel about blushes is the way I feel about eyeshadow
lol.gif
I want one in every color, but I am doomed from the start because normally each collection will have 5-6 shadows as opposed to 2 blushes. But then again there is the BPB collection and the Sonic Chic collection, so I guess it evens out
smiles.gif

I wanted to throw something out there... When it comes to lipsticks, I normally have at least one set of empties hanging around. When I first started depotting and had loads of empties, I was turning them in and getting so many lipsticks for "free" that I really didn't need and wasn't using. It is VERY unlikely that I will BUY a lipstick. It has to be really special. If I don't have empties, I don't get lipstick. There have been a few exceptions to that rule, but only 2. If I am trying to decide on a lipstick, even if I have empties, I ask myself if I would shell out $14 for it if I was without empties. Nine times out of 10, I pass. Right now, I have 2 sets of empties waiting. I was going to use them for Colour Forms, but now they will carry over to Electroflash, and if none of those l/s tickle my fancy, they will carry over to the Cult of Cherry. Saves me a good bit of money that way.

BTW, Neezer, or Tinkerbelle, or anyone that has the quads, can you please share what the finishes are on each of the colors in each quad?

Thanks for the OPI tip.

Something else to buy....sigh.... I think that soon we will all be forced into a life of crime to support our habbit.

Ooh I felt the same way about the name 'Smudged Violet'...aw yes, the name is Divine!

I really want a lipglass/lipstick or both
smiles.gif
that is the same tone as Smudged Violet but with a little more color impact with some pearl maybe. Do we know if there is one in the collection in that color family?

I love Smudged Violet but I wish it came in a pot by itself. I just don't know if I like the quad enough for that one color?

When you say with a little more color impact, how much more? I would be concerned that with the heaviness of the Violet that a lipstick with a high impact of color might be too much?
th_dunno.gif
Actually, I was imagining using one of my Tendertones alone with this or for an extra "pop", possibly my new Tropical Glow?

No nothin really dark or heavy - sheer, but just enough color for it to actually show its true color on the lips *add Pearl*

Thanks Neezer! If in fact Smudged Violet is a lustre, I think that will kill the quad for me.

Tinkerbelle has swatches of the new matteens on her blog, along with a FOTD using the Spiced Chocolate Quad.

No problem. i am about 90% sure that Smudged Violet is a lustre. it has that nice "crusty" feel to it. LOL im sorry that i described it as crusty but that's how they feel to me..like Gleam. what would be the next step up from a Lustre? VP?

It really does! That'll be my one and only purchase from this collection. I can wait for a couple more months for this, because it just screams fall!

The Tempting quad and the Kirsch Lush (?) lipstick look great! Not sure how I would wear the chartreuse, but the others colours in the quad are nice. I really like the matte lip for autumn time.
