Anyway, I find that the liquid mineralized foundation is a bit sticky whereas the one in the compact is more lightweight. Liba is right in that the liquid one looks shinier on the skin. When I used to use the mineralized foundations, I would set them with blot powder so that they'd not be too oily looking for the most part of the day, though towards the end of the day, it starts to show... Like it is no longer a continuous finish but breaks up and looks like beads of product on the skin. So now I actually use the mineralized cream compact as a spot coverage and I tap MSFN on top of it to set it. If I need to have flawless skin, I use Armani Maestro all over under the mineralized cream compact. Maestro is expensive yes, but you use only 4 drops or so each time and the finish is so amazingly luxurious. It is like a velvet finish that is ultra lightweight and the natural mattifying effect lasts easily 8 hours without any setting powder on top. You should get a sample to try it out.
Thank you for your thoughts!!

Sadly getting Armani products here is kind of an odissey, let alone being able to swatch them!

L'Oreal, the company Armani belongs to, does the same foundation under it's own brand name. It's called Nude Magique or some variant of this, and it's virtually the same ingredients for much less of the price you had to pay for the Armani. As the Armani one is a product some love and some hate, the L'Oreal one is a good option to try that kind of foundation.

Dammit!

I just checked beautypedia's info on Loreal Nude Magic and they shoot it down due to poor sun protection (not a problem as I can wear sunscreen underneath) and a high content of alcohol (which is a big no no of mine)

On the other hand, the Mineralize foundation recommended by liba et al, while it is apparently aimed at dry skin, it is categorized in the "Best" section

I am beginning to feel like finding the perfect foundation is impossible!

That is a tad shocking. Well then missy.....time to get started. One of my favs is Aurora, a pinked taupe. I'm not sure if it's limited edition or not but it makes the most beautiful neutral eye. Chocolate brown is also a fav and most recently, due to Master Enabler Erine, Naked Dark and Naked Deep Dark which I wore daily for nearly a month. I also like Deep Brown. They really are fun. I just need to reach for them more often in a consistent, rather than all or nothing way.

Yes! Chocolate brown is easily one of my fave pigments! I don't have Naked dark or Naked deep dark yet but I have been eyeing them for a while. I feel like I AT LEAST need Naked DD... I'm a naked eye, winged liner, and bold lip kinda chick and if Naked DD blends in almost invisible on my skin tone I will have to make sure I always have it on hand!

All this talk about pigments have me curious. I don't have any either. Should I just purchase all of the sets? I thinking about doing that unless I get talked out of it. But then again this is Specktra...home of enablers!

To start my pigment odyssey, I bought samples of MAC pigments off of ebay, back when they allowed it. They don't anymore, but there are many reputable sellers in the clearance bin here who will sell samples in the 5 gram jars to try. Also, ACW sells samples and they appear to be authentic, I have bought there when I just want a little bit or to try before I buy the big jar. (or if I want one of a set like the stackable pigments from Surf Baby or the holiday sets). I really recommend you try to see if you like them. You may become fanatical like me and then have to track down at least a sample of each one ever produced to see if you like it. Pigments are so versatile. I usually just use them like a loose eyeshadow (if its eye safe) but they can be layered, used on the cheek to add effects to your highlighter or blush, mixed with gloss for special effects (just be sure it is lip safe), mixed in skin lotion for sparkles on your arms or decolletage, all that, even mixed with hair gel for sparkly hair do. Pigments are what got me into MAC to begin. I would probably buy some samples to see if you like them before you commit to a set. These sets almost ALWAYS end up at the CCO if you have the patience to wait until later. That being said, the little jars are a good way to try them as well. But I would recommend buying sample jars from the Clearance bin here to try them before spending major dollars on them.

GET. THEM. ALL. I got into MAC pigments when I discovered a CCO had opened in my city. I bought three old holiday sets because I wanted to try pigments without buying full sizes. And I actually prefer the vials because I can't possibly use up a full size jar! Took a little while for me to learn how to work with them bc I am eyeshadow challenged (loose or pressed smh). Now I am obsessed with collecting them! I've been combing through the CB and there are tons so get tah gettin' lol! All I know is, this year's sets have grey glitter AND I NEED IT NOW!

I'm still planning to get them all. Don't have any yet and like you I can't imagine using a full size jar, so the sets look like a great way to start (no CCOs around here). Not good for my wallet though, especially as I'm not sure if we'll get any break at all between Divine Nights and the sets launching here. My list for these holiday collections is far too long, something might have to give, just not sure what!

I would if I could. Love my pigments. Not a glitter fan though.
