So true that the LE collections always gets to me and not pay too much attention to the permanent items. I have a huge list of permanent items that I really want but don't ever get the chance to get them. For this collection, I'm going to be saving up big time!

my carbon shattered awhike bacj, and i just dumped it all into an empty sample container and use it like that, its almost gone but i replace that sucker so ofter i didnt want to waste it.

i have a pretty big list for this collection, hoping with more swatches ill be able to mark some stuff off to minimize the damage!

I don't have it either. I only use black for eye liner and I have kohls and pigments for that. but I think I have 1 LE black - Mont Black.

I have this same problem and it never gets better.

I keep waiting for a lull in collections that interest me so I can place a large order of perm items, and it never comes! It seems like things from other brands that I want (cough, Chanel and NARS!) are released when I find myself on a small MAC break.

I've decided that from now on when I pick up my stuff/place an order for a new LE collection I'll also include 1 item from the perm line (from my huge list of items I want) each time. Cost wise it won't be adding a ton to each haul, but hopefully I'll be able to slowly pick up the perm items I've been wanting for what seems like ages.

On Topic - I'm still confused about this collection but I've decided to pass on the adorable and handy SH brushes. I need the budget wiggle room and something has to get chopped (I love that show on the Food Network!). I'll be picking up a brush set this Holiday season and that will suit me just fine for travel/in the purse which is why I wanted these anyway. I know the quality won't be the same, but I'll make do.

That's a good idea! I may start doing that, too. I did that with A+O and ITG actually.

I still don't have Carbon either. I use UD Zero or Dark Soul piggie. Neither are matte black, but the glitter in Dark Soul is so negligible visibly, it might as well be matte black. Now a VP black or Starflash would be money in the bank--not part of a quad, a single--MAC peeps! I am trying NOT to get all 3 quads from this collection but LL is slowly trying to Lem its way back to the list

The release date thread says Aug 10 - which means 2010

If I remember correctly I asked an MUA about a launch party for a collection that was out earlier and she said they only would have one for like each season.... ie Spring....spring forecast.....To the Beach/Summer. She said there would be one in the "fall" for a bigger collection so I would think this one would qualify since it's so big but then it's not a "season" one

There will be launch parties for this collection - I am pretty sure.

This is the fall collection like Cult of Cherry in 08 and Makeup art Cosmetics in 09 which had them

I don't have Carbon because I'm afraid of black shadows

I always imagine myself making a sloppy mess with them... I love smoky black looks, I'm just afraid to attempt one.

don't be afraid of them! if it goes wrong, you can wash it off

i find it easier to use a tiny blending brush to do a rough outline of where i want the black, apply the rest of the shadow then use a larger, softer brush to blend the black out.

i'm really looking forward to playing with carbon but i don't want to touch any of my college things before i start, which is going to be especially hard when i get my SFX kit!

Okay, n00b question--will there be pre-order, or is Midnight on 8/26/10 the earliest that this collection can be ordered? I don't wanna miss out on the Kitty bag swag...

I don't have Carbon either. When I need a black eyeshadow, I turn to UD's Perversion. Because I haven't been buying MAC for all that long, I try to not duplicate UD colors I already have.
