MAC Glitter and Ice Discussion

If I called my MAC counter, do you think they would let me pre-order? I'm not a pro member or anything, but I live 45 minutes away from MAC and I'd rather only make one trip there, thanks!

You would think MAC would make sure all their employees that work at counters and stores know what the hell is coming out soon, but no. We know more about what's happening than they do. If you're gonna work for a company like MAC, do your homework. Tsk tsk...

I'm also terrible when it comes to highlighters. With everything that's coming out, I definitely need to buy strategically.

I just swatched the collection at Nordies and alls I can say is O-M-G!! Let's Skate paint pot is a freaking DREAM! I also preordered Shimmermint (a mermaid on mine eyes), Hold that Pose, and Such Flare, which is a gorgeous red (I have close to a million reds) and I really like mattes because I can put the lightest swipe, sheer it out, and then rock clear gloss over it. Such Flare blots down to a banging tomato pinkish color. I love it so much.

I am super tempted to go back and order more. I would only let myself swatch the paint pot, the red lippy and all the mineralize eyeshadows, because I didn't want to fall in love with, and consequently buy more products...but the temptation to go back might be overwhelming!

Where are our swatches?! Don't US pro stores get the collection this week?!

Highlighters have been one of my weaknesses lately.... But, I'm gonna pass on Snow Globe. GlamQueen just sold me her backup Lightscapade, and I *think* that's enough to tide me over for now... XD I hope.....


I somehow got two invites to the party on Tuesday.... I could bring 3 people if I wanted.... I don't even want to go though so I'm passing. I'd be too tempted.

Sounds like lots of people previewed the collection, though few posted pics. Duh...

I'm picking up my stuff the day after tomorrow. Can't wait to play with the new MES, b/p, and p/p.

I was thinking of getting Shimmermint but the one swatch I saw of it seemed really sparkly, and at age 47 I'm not really rockin' the glittery eyelids anymore LOL.

I'm a real grey-green eyeshadow whore though, so I'm not making a final decision until I either see more swatches or swatch it myself.

At this point the brown paint pot is my only definite purchase. The black paint pot and the Snow Globe beauty powder are 2 other maybes for me.

I have to say that I think thats a generalization. Most of the girls at my Nordies counter definitely know whats going on. I heard one of them giving a preview of Glitter and Ice to a customer over a month ago. The other day in conversation I asked one of them if it's hard to keep all of these collections straight, especially when they're as big as this one. She said it's not really hard and that they were trained on the products at least a month in advance.

Perhaps it depends on the individual SA as to how much they educated themselves/go to the trainings/remember the products they learned about. Maybe the SA you worked with was new?

The MAC counters I go to have definitely improved the personnel there... at least ime. The stores, in my experience, are hit/miss...I would say friendliness at the stores is the issue tho, not really knowledge of the products.

I do wonder sometimes if they play dumb at times/don't give previews on purpose because MAC seems to be very secretive/private about cllx as a brand in general in recent months. I have noticed that SA's aren't quick to give out info to people ...for example I had the hardest time finding out when Posh Paradise was hitting stores/counters in my area (I was given conflicting information from the info online). A MAC MA actually told me that they aren't "allowed" to give that information out anymore (ahead of time), which I thought was very odd. And I also remember that PP was not available for pre-order in my parts either. All very strange.

Elegant-one, I posted my sneak peak swatches a few weeks ago.... maybe you can go back a few couples (dozens!) of pages to find them? You will certainly like Snowglobe b/p.

I'm so curious as to why Temptalia and Karen, etc., still haven't gotten swatches/reviews up. I would be willing to bet they've been sitting on products for a while now... And I know they won't upload that stuff until MAC lets them, but WHY HASN'T MAC LET THEM!? I don't understand the game...I find that when I have swatches earlier, I tend to buy MORE than when the swatches seem last minute or are put out right before a launch. What about you all?
