MAC Glitter and Ice Discussion

I just ordered Winterized and it's purdy...no poop here!! BUT every picture I take of it makes it look greyish when it's really a purple grey color. The color payoff is great, very pleased.

I ran to the mall on my lunch break and I ended up with How Beautiful b/p, Morning Frostt p/p, and Seasonally spicy liner. Morning Frost is so pretty I can not wait to use it! I also loved For Effect but I just couldn't justify getting it because I knew it would get little use for most of the looks I wear daily. The MES are really pretty as well.

I was going to ask about the brush sets too. I have the duo fiber set on hold and ready to be picked up today, but I just don't know if I will regret it. I have returned previous brush sets for major suckage. It is just that this set is full of brushes I want, and if they really have improved would I be a fool for passing it up? I am driving myself crazy lol.

I checked out the duo-fibre set because some of the past holiday duo-fibres have been so shockingly bad. These didn't have any obvious faults in the construction like past versions. If the handles are to your taste and you're interested in all the brushes in the set then I think it's worth a try.

Picked up my goodies this morning.

Ended up with:

Shimmermint - Gorgeous! It does have a bit of fall out, but that's because it is so dang glittery and sparkly. Foiled it will be perfection, but it's still pretty dry too. Mine didn't have much darker veining, but it was not at all white, it was all minty green with a couple tiny veins of a slightly darker green.
Eloquent Air - Didn't think I would get this one, but I tried it on and it's just sheer enough that it doesn't make me look dead. It'll be GREAT to layer over a darker lipliner or lipstick. It's super creamy and goes on way smooth.
Whirls and Twirls - I love this one simply because it is such a natural shimmer. It's sheer, but it adds a hint of natural pink to my lips with lots of shimmer. Love it!
Soft Sable - I had decided against this as I'm not a fan of looking like a corpse with grey lips, but once I actually tried it on, I discovered that I desperately needed it. It took a few seconds to warm up and settle in, but once it did, it was beautiful! I'm excited to try layering it over a liner or another lipstick. Especially a purple-toned one.
Pleasure Principle - Gorgeous!! I wasn't expecting to pick this one up either but it has so many different colors of glitter, it's like the lipgloss version of the glitter nail polish that came out with this.
Dressed to Dazzle - I tend to shy away from beige-y lipglosses just because I'm a sucker for color, but this one is just heavenly layered over slightly darker lip colors.
Snowglobe - WOW! I thought I had enough highlighters, but I saw this one and tried it on, and was blown away (I'm NW15-20). I never buy backups of highlighters, bronzers, blushes, etc as I have never gone through a whole pan of it, but I might need to for this. Love the white packaging too, it looks so sophisticated and wintery.

I'm probably going to be heading back later to pick up Hold That Pose and Winterized. I had swatched them, talked myself out of them (even though I loved them), then kept seeing them on my hand the whole way back to work... and now want them again. LOL

That's all I got from the Glitter and Ice part. I also got some from the Ice Parade, but I will post there!

Picked up my haul of Such Flare, For Effect, Pleasure Principle, and Festive Finery. Haven't tried anything on yet, but I may test out Such Flare for my show tonight. I hope it works. Matte lipsticks can be tricky on me.

Thanks for your review Adee. I bought both Eloquent Air & Soft Sable lipsticks. I am hoping to receive my order today or tomorrow. I also bought the Sultry eyeshadow palette. I was disappointed in Temtalia's reviews & swatches for it though. I'm hoping that it was just that she received a bad palette and that the shadows are actually better quality than what she says. It's happened before.

That's all I got from the Glitter and Ice part. I also got some from the Ice Parade, but I will post there!

I picked up snow season, shimmermint and let's skate. I'm pretty happy with my purchases although I might go back for morning frost.

I had a sick kitty today, but I did make it out to see the new collection in the late afternoon, once I was comfortable that my little boy was feeling better. I'm sort of divided on the collection and was surprised at what I liked and didn't like. I didn't pick anything up, but I may decide to go back and look again, when I have a bit more time.

Things that I liked:

Hold That Pose- Really pretty and more pigmented than I was expecting.

Double Spin- It was kind of patchy and applied unevenly, but it's a kind of nice, subtle icy lavender-pink. Reminded me of Tease Me (although whiter and creamier), if anyone remembers that one.

Whirls & Twirls- I might go back for this one, as I don't really have anything like it. It struck me as the warm pink version of Bubblegum from Spring Colour Forecast

Snow Globe- OK, I wasn't surprised at liking this, but I was surprised at how much I liked it. It's a really stunning highlighter and it's the thing I'm most likely to go back for. I smoothed a little on my cheeks just using my fingers and I could immediately see the improvement. Despite the fact that so many highlighters are close to one another in colour, I have to say I've never seen one quite like this before.

I so wanted to love Soft Sable, because it's such a stunning colour swatched on my hand, but on my lips, it seemed to pull a grey tone in my skin and made me look corpse-y. Super disappointed, but this is often the case with me and taupe lipsticks- there's a sliver of distance between a taupe that looks really nice on me and one that makes me look like an extra from the morgue scenes in CSI.

I didn't find Soft Sable l/s grey or pewter. On me, it appeared as taupe with a slight grey-undertone -- this was in the flourecent lighted mirror.

I'm so excited! My first round of goodies arrived today and it is so hard to take them out of the shiny silver boxes! But the cheery white and silver packaging is just so "holiday" ish! I want more! Did anyone get the red lipstick? I am really tempted! I am also debating the PP's. The taupe one is a given. The pink one...too light? Not sure and would love opinions. For Effect. What would I wear over it? I don't do black eyeshadow at all. Silvery greys, purples, browns, but not black. Just looks horrible on me. Should I skip For Effect?

Then there is that light bronzer. Snowglobe is exquisite! Soft Sable is my dream lipstick! And it is dark, rainy, sleeting and I can't even swatch until tomorrow at the earliest!! But hubby said I can buy a few more things, so trying to narrow it down!!

Just got my black box!

A little annoyed. As soon as I picked up the box it was rattling... it was packed very poorly. There was tissue on the bottom and a piece on top.. and a ton of extra space in between with product all over. The MES shadows were knocked a little loose but everything else was ok. Just annoyed that I've had $10 order packed better.

Anyhooooo... I'm going to go play with everything now. The MES are soooo pretttttyyyy.
