MAC - Grand Duos Discussion

It may only be $1 more for you, but in my currency, it's definitely more than that. If I remember correctly, it costs about 3 or 4 dollars more than the Sonic Chic blushes here. Plus the amount of blusher you get is less for the amount paid, because only half of the pan can be used as a blush.

Anyway, I swatched them and I can safely say that they aren't anything special. I only got Moon River and I found that all the rest even though they are pretty, they are easily dupeable and way too similar to the previous mineralized blushes

I'm jealous of your 25% discount

I didn't know MAC does any discounts, here we never get one.. Instead they'll increase the prices soon

Was playing with these in the store yesterday and I was using the small skunk brush to apply them, anyone else think they are hot glittery messes? The glitter is quite small but still even tho i've a baby face I still think these are too glittery for me to get away with.

I was gonna skip these, but I'm curious enough to go check them out in store. Love rock is calling my name, but I think I will be strong enough to say no.
I went overboard on hello kitty, so must save now for lollipop lovin and the new msf's coming up.

has anyone tried comparing love rock to tippy BPB? i know that they have different textures, but as far as bright pink blushes are concerned, do you think they look similar when you put it on?

I tried all the blushes today … I took the whole Grand Duos stand next to the mirror (I asked first if I can do that instead of taking the blushed one by one the MA said sure) BTW no one in the store was interested in them!! Anyways the only ones that were tempting to me were Moon River & Grand Duo. But Moon River was a bit metallic on my skin (hubby hated it), Grand Duo I decided to skip it because I have way to many blushes and it wasn’t special enough for me to get it, but I’m sure on my next Mac visit I’m going to check it again

Huh? I am sure the 2 sides are supposed to be swirled together to be used as a blush. I haven't played with these at the store yet but from what it looks like is the solid more pigmented part makes the base and the swirly part gives the glow similar to the mineralize skinfinishes. If that's the case, then you would be getting 2 products in 1 which would be more convenient and cheaper for me than getting 2 of those products seperately...

can I ask why do you think only one half can be used as a blush?

I use my 188 brush and just swirl it around the entire pan! I'm sure you could also use half and half but I can assure you the swirly side can also be used as a blush too

erm actually it depends on individual preference. BUT if u don't want the 2 colors to get mixed up, use both seperately. OR if u don't like the shimmery part to be on your whole cheeks, just use the solid part and use the swirly part for highlighting.

yeah I think that's what's so great about them- it's like a multi function blush! all in one blush or blush & highlight together.

Yup that's what i like about them too.

and u can use the swirly part of the blush as eyeshadow too :p

jus as a wash all over the eye. Quite a versatile product imho.

I see the swirly side as more of for highlighting purposes, so the actual blusher so to speak is only the solid side which consists of half the pan.

AMEN!!! you're not just limited to the solid side as a blush. and who says you can't use the swirly side as a blush? that's what people do with some of the MSFs. they're swirly.

I am not planning on using these on the eye (not planning on getting any, actually lol) but may I ask why they're not eyesafe? B/c of the glitter? Just curious...

I think the makeup companies put an expiration date of 3 years for blushers but I have many powder blushers wayyyy over that mark. If it doesn't smell weird I keep!

I kinda want grand duo.

I saw them in the Pro-Store again yesterday and Tippy is not really like Love Rock. Tippy looks more like Azalea (Pro Blush).

I've compared Love Rock with Tippy in the Store, but with really bad lighting. You can't really see how gorgeous Love Rock is

At the bottom: Tippy BBP
Below Tippy: Love Rock MB (solid + swirled Side)
And on the right: Hot Planet MB (solid + swirled Side)

As you can see you can use both sides of Hot Planet as a blush

Yes, it's nice! Now, I very rarely get things from the permanent line ~ I just add them to my wishlist and I go crazy at the -25% days
mac_haul.gif

But on the other hand, everything is so ridiculously expensive here compared with the US so even the -25% doesn't make them exactly cheap
