It seems like the glosses are mini sets. I've never bought any holiday gloss set before but I just resisted getting Red Blazer to justify getting a set this year. All those pinks in the pics are looking lovely !

Love the extra dimension eyeshadow duo idea! Nay, good job on the pics. Looking closely at the edes duo pictured they look like either Young Venus or Opalesse and Rich Core. Coincidentally, I am wearing RC today!
I thought so, too. They don't look like new colours.

As a marketing and selling standpoint, it's not smart. I can see how consumers think it is, but when you've sold cosmetics for a living, trust me, it's not. It may not make sense, but it's not.
Do you mean because people are more likely to be overwhelmed by all of the choice that they end up purchasing less than they would have? Or because the quality of the items might not be the best if they're trying to do too many different formulas for one launch?

I don't buy sets or palettes so not too much of interest to me. Probably better this way.

I think the gloss sets are great, I love the mini tubes. Not a gloss girl (anymore), but if I would buy any MAC glosses, the holiday sets is what I would go for.

...Is it normal to take out a small loan for makeup??
ohboy.gif

All joking aside, my list for this is about $200 (obviously pending swatches) and I've never wanted that much from one collection before.

No Faux Pas l/s
Romantic Overture & Social Seasons Cremesheens
Red lip bag
Plum eye palette/set
Ivory brush kit (big maybe, but I desperately need brushes to keep in my on-the-go makeup bag)
And I'm super on the fence about getting those cute little edes duos. I've never tried any of the edes before!

I've never tried them either, but if they're as good as the ed blushes, bronzers or skinfinishes I'd be down to give them a go.

They are! The ONLY problem I have with those are they tend to fall off from the pan/mesh after a while!

I like the look of the brush sets (for once) but the SE ones usually have bad rep.
They do, but honestly, I've had absolutely no issues with the SE brushes I bought 5 years ago. They are all still going strong. The quality isn't quite as good as the regular brushes, but they aren't bad by any means, in my humble opinion, especially at the price point when compared to the full sized brushes. I have the full sized equivalents of basically all of the brushes that I got in the 2009 holiday sets, and there isn't a vast difference in quality (speaking from a practical perspective, that is). They are soft and have never shed. Some of them aren't quite as full or as dense as their full-sized counterparts. The only MAC brush that I've ever had any real issues with was actually a full sized brush, which shed like crazy, so I guess we all just have different experiences with them!
