MAC Hey, Sailor! (Summer 2012) Discussion

There was NO drama. Like I said, only people with common sense and great observation skills know what and who I was talking about. I SIMPLY stated what NUMEROUS people were thinking. I received messages and emails thanking me for standing up and saying something about it. I've only been on here for almost 3 months and noticed A LOT. We are on here to share our love for makeup and share tips and tricks. Not act like we are above others or act like we're the elite members of Specktra. Geez! I said what I said and I'm not taking it back because it needed to be said. Let it go and let's proceed to discuss what we're all here for... MAKEUP.

I feel you! I'd send an email to MAC just to let them know how disappointed you are with this. Never know what may come of it.
ok im so upset right now because I just called customer service to see whats going on with my order since i ordered on Wed and still havent received a shipping notice and he tells me that since my order was over 100 dollars I needed to call in to confirm that it was really me who ordered for safety reasons. Like first of all this hasnt happened before and second, if that was the case why didnt they call me to ask because if i hadnt call i would have never received my stuff!!

Post pictures please when you get Salute:) You got me into Spice l/s and i have been thinking about Salute as well. I'm glad to hear some people are liking Salute. I tried it in store as well and it didn't look bad, but the lightning is different in store so i'm not sure if i will just like it or love it.
YAY!!! ^__________^ I'm glad you are liking Spice per my recommendation. I PROMISE I'll put up a picture of me wearing Salute as soon as I open the package. LOL I have a feeling I will love Salute just like I loved Peachstock and Spice. I doubt Salute will sell out anytime soon. I consider Salute to be in the same boat as Spice. Spice sold out AFTER people saw it on various skin tones. I think Salute will be the same way. We just need to see it on other complexions. I'm happy to to try it out, since RR and SLV are shades I think are dupable for my skin tone.

same here, although i'm not sure i will end up with that many things from the collection all the same. i guess now that my collection has grown so much, i feel i need to draw the line someplace!

anyway, here's me with sail la vie yesterday...i think it looks kind of toned down compared to what it really was!

btw that's my first pic upload of myself on forums etc...(if you don't count my avatars)
looks good. i need your glasses!!! Who are they by?

If they had them, they wouldn't let me. I tried freestanding MAC (where I usually buy) and Pro yesterday. I can't get back to Pro today because I"m working from home. I did MAC Chat and they're recommending both Launch Away and Crew to me (but not Fleet Fast). The swatches I've seen look very pink but the MUA insists that Launch Away is peach and not pink toned, and that crew is warm because of the base colour. She also thought Crew would sell out quickly. I may just have to order and hope that they work.

I know you love Crew; do you think it could work for the warmer toned?
I think so. IMO, it is not too cool-based, but right in the middle. I hope you can enjoy Crew.

I'm still unsure about the Bronzers... I have cool undertones and I'm very pale...about NW10. Would you recommend Soft Sand or Sun Dipped? (or something else?!)

Thanks, MAC-Guy. I decided to give it a pass, unless I feel differently after swatching it in person. I ordered the Vera Flower Fantasy instead; I think that might work better with my colouring. :)

I know that free shipping and my LE paranoia kicked in, so I got a few more things (enough to qualify for the dorky tatoos). I added Riviera, Sail La Vie, Sun Dipped, the green eyeliner. Too bad I skipped the Red Racer, now its too late. TBH, it looks a lot like MAC Red to me and with the Satin finish, I didn't think unique enough to spring for it.
You were making me sweat there for a minute.
Same here. I love the SPF, but can't do the sticky. Betcha I get it later at the CCO.
LOL, the excavation made me want it more. I love that it is a face product with pink, peach and lavender so I can probably swirl selectively to make it look different if desired. Now, the question is, will I want to excavate mine too?
Wouldn't you rather want it for the summer? s/t are not really sticky in warmer temperatures, but they tend to be more tacky in colder weather. I only wear s/t during the summer months. Maybe try out a s/t from a previous collection at a CCO?

That one is very nice too

I hope so - I have too many doubts about Crew and I tend to regret that type of purchase later. FF looks really nice from the swatches I've seen and the reviews are consistently positive about it. Yet another black box on the way!

A random guy who sits behind the computer and bullies chicks and tries to make them feel you and only you are right. Guess what? YOU'RE NOT.

You are not the king or queen of makeup lovebug. NO ONE has seen YOUR WORK. Anyone can swatch a lipstick on their hand. But let's see you put it into use. Until this happens, get off your high horse, stop attacking people, and HUMBLE YOURSELF. Specktra should be a place of positivity. NOT a place where people feel uncomfortable because some random dude stalks every board and tries to act like he knows everything. Show us your work, make a blog, get on youtube, create a portfolio THEN TALK.

Oh, and I can assure you that I am not the only one thinking this. I'm just the one with enough guts to say it, because it NEEDS to be said. Take HEED to my advice sweetie pie. MEN don't act like this. LOL

this is a place where people who are passionate about makeup come to talk, I'm pretty sure that is what Mac-guy does, as well as giving his own personal opinion on some products / makeup applying techniques, and I'm pretty sure you are the one who is attacking him.

also, for the last line of your message, way to conform to gender stereotypes! MEN don't act like this? and I suppose there aren't women who swear or boycott makeup or have hairy armpits either? Like, it's 2012, people can act however the hell they'd like, especially on the internet.

Sorry to seem rude, but your message really irked me, and just so you know, I have seen the work of people here on Specktra, guys included even if not Mac-guy in particular, and it's pretty damn lovely so I wouldn't be so quick to jump down their throats.

I think either one of them would work, but the pro longwear bronzers feel softer and more blendable and therefore i prefer them. If you use a duo fibre brush you should be able to build the colour up nicely. Other brushes work too, but if you're afraid of bronzers the duo fibre brushes might help.

Ok Bee, I wasn't going to say anything since it's just makeup and it isn't that serious but you were completely rude to me for absolutely no reason. I asked a simple question and you went a too far with how you addressed me. AND also Mac-Guy as well. I don't always agree with what he says or how he says it, but it is his opinion and usually he's right on the money. Be careful what you say here.

I meant men don't act petty and attack women. I work at MAC with MEN, so of course I'm accepting to men loving makeup. Like I told the other chick, think what you want, say what you want. I'm not taking it back. Deal with it. Because it needed to be said.

From what I've read, we're about the same skin tone/undertone and I absolutely agree re: Crew. It's really pretty and I really wanted it to work for me, but unfortunately the swatches I've seen make me believe it's a pass. I'll test it out when I pick up the rest of my stuff, but I have other products that can/will fit this need.

It's just so PRETTY.../sigh haha
