Exactly. It's just in bad taste.

So, I hated Torrid on me, I love Deep Throat. I like Marine Life and Dainty as well. The Brunette MSF was terrible on me, Blonde is amazing. I have cool, fair skintone and brown hair, brown eyes. Would I like Stereo Rose?

If you think you might like it and you have access to it, snap it up. If you decide you don't like it, you'll def be able to sell it here to someone that wants it.

I'm in Canada, and I've actually found it very hard to sell stuff here, even highly sought after items. That's why I'm guessing it's because I'm in Canada

So I've decided to only buy stuff I really want. I've never even seen Stereo Rose in person.

I love my Mac at Macys near my home. They allow you to pre-order and they actually let you take it home 1-2 days before it launches. So with this collection, I got super lucky and went home with my goodies today. This is what I bought:

Call my Bluff
Jazzed
Creme de Nude

By Candelight
Petticoat
2-Stereo Rose, they said I got the last 2 =)

I might sell the 2nd stereo rose, I actually held it for a co-worker but she didnt like it, so I just decided to keep it but I know I wont use one whole one.

Anyway, BIG UPS to the girlies at MAC Macys in the bay area =)

Its really really pretty in person. Very soft natural looking with a lil peachy goodness. Nora posted great pics/swatches of it. It was one of the first (after Band Of Roses that I was drawn to in person. Not overly unique, but nonetheless every day pretty.

Don't get me wrong - By Candlelight is also VERY pretty... but nothing gives me the perfectly polished look that Petticoat does.

it depends on what you want it for too. petticoat for blush, BC for a highlight.

we don't have a helmut state law either, but we have a seatbelt law. honestly i don't think there should be a law for either. if i wanna be stupid and hurt myself, then let me. but whether i wear my seatbelt or not, its only gonna hurt me, not anyone else.

i always wear my seatbelt, and make everyone else in my car wear one too, but i shouldn't be forced by the government to wear it.

Years ago I used to work in retail (clothing, not makeup) but we weren't allowed to purchase items until they went on the sales floor. Maybe my manager was just a bear but it was like she could tell if all the inventory wasn't put out. Her reasoning was, she could sell it full price to a customer while the employee would only pay 60% of the cost. Made sense to me. I just can't see the higher ups allowing employees to pick such a highly coveted item, at least not ALL of them...

sooo, to help a few of you out, here's what i can do.

we have 4 SR in stock (if some haven't been held already). i have a doctor's appt tmrw. after that i'm swinging my the counter cuz a coworker and i are gonna have lunch. if anyone wants to spend the additional $4.95 to ship it, i can snatch em up for you tmrw and ring em up when i go in at 3:15 on thursday and have em sent out that night or friday (whenever macy's sends things out).

so...who wants me to do this for them?

just send me a PM please. the first 4 i get will be the first in line.

US peeps only please, as i don't believe macy's ships from store internationally.

I got an email from nordstroms that they were also backordering the stereo roses. I place mine a couple hours after it went up so I can see why I got the email but not 45 minutes after.

I was able to place an order with Nordies website, it says it's backordered with an estimate ship date of July 30, has anyone here had any experience with backorders on Nordies? Are they guaranteed? I am just worried that they won't have it in the end, and by then I would have already missed picking it up at my local dept. store...

I'm convinced MAC studied Ty Inc.'s marketing plan and created the Beanie Babies of the cosmetics world for the new millenium.

I'm sick and tired of trying to score the MSF equivalent of the blue Peanuts the Elephant or whatever darn LE product they're creating without enough stock.

Yes, I was one of the dopes who stood in all day lines for a semi-rare Beanie back in '97. And here I am doing the online equivalent of it, constantly checking websites.

I think I need to boycott MAC.

I know that several Nordstroms in the Los Angeles area have SR available. The Nordstroms in Redondo Beach had 2 available (for holding until Thursday) earlier this evening.

I could see being able to take pre-orders for employees directly from corporate, but I don't know if that would be feasible. I don't know how MAC is run, but at VS, we have zero control over what things we get shipped; we have no contact with the place that sends our inventory. Considering MacPRO sold out of SR just as fast (or faster?) than mac.com, I don't think that's fair either.

I figure, as long as the employees aren't buying to sell them and make some extra cash, they should be allowed to put things on hold for themselves.

I don't think it's really sketchy - I'm sure she just meant 'there's none left to be sold to the public, because every item we have is accounted for' - but it was in REALLY bad taste to advertise that they're all on hold because employees got to them first. The way she said it made it come off really... weird. I think that's fair for them to get first dibs (a perk of working there, you know?), but I think it was really, really rude to say it.

Someone else suggested a waiting period - that would result in MA's being unable to get the products (like for SR - it's going to sell out within hours at stores), and that's unfair. They shouldn't be penalized for working there.

I guess just consider it the ultimate first dibs/putting on hold?

(I do get what someone else said about a company not allowing it for fiscal reasons - may as well force customers to pay full price instead of allowing your employees to get it at discount!)

My SR order initially had a ship date of 7/20, and then later I was notified that it shipped out today via UPS. My order, however, was never listed as backorder. It was "in process."
