i've got 2 takers already.

i can either ring em up thru macy's like i would for any customer, or i can buy and ship em out myself and you can do paypal to pay me the cost, tax and $4.95 shipping. whatever you're more comfortable with.

Girl: Uhhhh... we don't even have that on the FLOOR yet.
Me: ..... I know. I wanted to hold something because I am away on vacation. I tried ordering it today online but it's backordered.
Girl: Ummmm... I don't.... umm.... *talking to the girl in the background*
Girl in Background: In the Groove?.... STEREO ROSE?.... (mind you, I didn't even MENTION Stereo Rose and she said it)
Girl gives Girl in Background phone: Hi. Yeah, no. To tell you the truth, we won't even be putting that on the floor. It's been reserved by all of our employees. (yes, she said employees!) We have none for the public. And if it's backordered online, we won't get extra stock. Sorry.
Me: WOW.... uh... okay, thanks?

2nd call... MAC counter in Macy's:

Me: Hi, would it be possible to put a hold on an item from the In The Groove Collection coming out this week?
Girl: Not possible. We don't hold items for more than 24 hours and that collection isn't even OUT yet. *scoffs like I'm some premature makeup loving fool*
Me: WOW.... uh... okay, thanks?

3rd call... MAC counter in Bloomingdale's:

Me: Hi, would it be possible to put a hold on an item from the In The Groove Collection coming out this week?
Girl: Which item?
Me: *hopeful!* STEREO ROSE MSF!
Girl: Hold on one sec.
*on hold for 5 minutes, fingers crossed*
Girl: I'm sorry. They've all actually been put on hold already.
Me: .... ALL OF THEM?
Girl: All of them.
Me: WOW.... uh... okay, thanks?

So.... yeah. What gives? Is this freakin' MSF like freakin' GOLD or something? I don't believe it!


How terrible. I agree that the sales rep was extremely rude telling you that all of the product was already on hold for employees.

I would check what the status is under your account on the nordstroms website and if it says in process chat with them. I was about to pull an all nighter waiting for the other websites so its a good thing I checked.

I just checked my order status on the Mac website. All the items I ordered, including SR and Later p/m, has "pending" next to them. I haven't received any shipping confirmation email yet and I placed my order this morning at 8:59 am EST. I guess I'll have to wait until midnight when they start sending out emails to find out if everything went through?

This is interesting. In this case, the employees need to be able to wear the product. Its advertising right? I know I always love to see how the MAs are wearing the products when a new collection comes out. So Mac really should have a way to get the product to their employees while leaving some for the customers.

That actually sounds like a REALLY good idea. Especially getting stuff early and creating buzz!

Edit: VS does something like this, sort of - we usually get new bras for free or at a discounted price ($15, max) a week or two before release so that we can wear them and figure out what we like about them/don't like about them. The purpose is so we can give personal testimony to customers. They actually threatened to take that away from us when they did some secret shopping and none of the associates were using personal testimony!

Our gratis comes from our stock though - and it's created some problems (especially because we often can only get buff or black). So if a lot of our employees are 34B, and we get a limited supply - that means we have zero 34B black bras at launch. Not the best planning, VS!

I just got an e-mail from Mac.com saying that my Later pigment and Go For It lipstick has been shipped. I chose 2 day shipping so hopefully I will have my stuff by Thursday

I had went to my MAC counter at Macy's last Thursday and the girls there said that they would start selling the In the Groove stuff on Saturday since it was already on display underneth the counter so I made sure to get there Saturday around the time that they opened just to make sure that I got to get SR since they only had 5 to sell. So when I got there, the manager was there and I asked her if they were selling ITG stuff that day and she looked at me like I was crazy!

I told her that the 2 girls that were working Thursday said that they would start selling ITG Saturday and she said that she would sell it to me since they told me that they were going to sell them Saturday even though the collection doesn't officially launch until this Thursday!!

So since I couldn't swatch anything, I just picked up the 2 items that I had really wanted: Stereo Rose and Jazzed and skipped happily away! I swatched them later and was rather dissappointed though; they were both lighter than I had expected them to be but I will make them work!

I can't believe that SR sold out in under 3 hours!! I hope everyone who wants one gets to get one.

So peeved. Nordstrom called me to cancel my stereo rose presale. Turns out it was sold out way before I got there. I called other nordies in my area but they're sold out too. Soooo I guess I'm lining up outside MAC on Thursday lol
