I have a question about Stovepipe Black.

I usually don't wear gray. I have brown eyes and I think I must own every brown, beige, pink, peach and neutral colour ever made but I never go near the grays or the blues. I was thinking of getting Stovepipe Black because I'm getting bored with my browns and warm taupes.

Is there a dupe for this that I can B2M for or is this shade really special?

I have hazel/brown eyes (I do mostly smokey/neutral eyes) - so YES you should absolutely try grays & darker blues. I am a mostly brown es girl, but I layer, grays, deep blues over my browns just up to the crease line.

The only shadow I have that is somewhat close to Stovepipe is a BB color called Fog which I absolutely love. It def. is different from other MAC es's. BUT, it is all personal preference.

I wore Pink Cult today and I love it. It is soft and natural on, but yet, it brightens up my whole face. I wore Lazy Day l/s and Easy Lounger l/g from TTB with it, and it is a great combo. It is not really unqiue though, so I don't understand the huge buzz it's getting, but it is a beautiful color, and definately one I will use several times a week. I am glad to have been able to get the last one at my counter. :)

I wore Pink Cult yesterday. It looked very soft and natural despite swatching mauve pink on my hand at the store. I don't think I'll ever over apply this blush.

Thank you so much! :) I really hope something comes of it. I cant serve anymore, I need a huge change. Freelance is just tricky for me cause I dont have any experience putting makeup on other people. So I def need to work on that. I should prob get some practice in before I apply for freelance.

I forgot to say what I thought about the shadows. Stovepipe is pigmented and rich, but I think is pretty dupeable. It is VERY pretty though, perfect for a smokey eye. I'm on a no buy until QC so if its still available later I might consider it. The rest of them are horrible, pigmentation is bad and thier chalky... bleh

^ Yay! You're absolutely right to get your name in there, so that you're in their heads even before they're look for someone. I know that doing freelance work has been good for some people as a way to get a foot in the door, so if they're able to give you some time, go for it! I really hope this turns into a job for you!

That's weird that they hadn't got those lipsticks yet, but I suppose it's a way of spreading out your spending...

That's exactly how I felt about Mehr lipstick. I decided it's because MAC often does crazy or less natural colors so that when they come along with something more classic or natural it's a big deal. lol

OK guys ya'll are making me want Stovepipe. I need to check it out, sounds pretty.

Flaminbird, that sounds gorgeous. I love Stars & Rockets so pretty.

I have a question. I pulled out the other day to show my daughter and it wasn't swatching very well. I noticed it had that hard kind of look on top of it. I don't remember using it wet but it has been a while since I've used it. Can I save it or do I need to replace it? I didn't know if I should try to gently scrape the top layer off or I thought somewhere I read someone using alcohol. Any suggestions?

I'd probably try to just scrape it off really gently using a clean mascara wand. I've had that happen with a couple of shadows and it usually does the trick. I've only ever used alcohol to re-press broken shadows so I'm not sure if that would help...you could always try, it certainly wouldn't harm it. HTH.

yeah good advice. a couple of textures seem to go like that. just scrape the top layer off. also make sure you use a clean brush each time. sometimes the layer can be oils from your face getting onto the product.

I'm glad you like pink cult :) I have barely any blushes so it's a new colour for me! I'm still waiting for it to come though as I never received my package today :( ....hopefully tomorrow...

:) Hopefully, I wanted to wear it today but as it never came I wore MA (not that i'm complaining!) instead, it looked nice as it was a really nice sunny day today and it gave my a glowy look - can't wait for the summer!

Thank you, I will try that. I always use a clean brush but I'm wondering if I maybe used a brush that wasn't completely dry, although I usually check for that, perhaps I was in a hurry.

I met my friend at MAC yesterday to get her m/u done by my friend/mua. She's just learning about makeup so it was a real treat to her :D. Anyway she did a really pretty smokey look using DID on all over her lid then MH on the outer 2/3/crease with Nehru on the very outer corner and some into the crease. She used KID to blend the MH into the brow then lined the waterline with black....not sure what liner and then somewhat under the lash line. Then she did something I thought was so pretty was she took Stars & Rockets over the black liner that was under the lash line which turned it into a really pretty purply blue. It was sooo pretty!! Then she used Acid Washed and Docile l/g over top. I took pics but only had my camera phone so it's nothing where you can really see what she did but it was the prettiest look I've seen with such basic colors that she's done :D. She also used one of the new Cream blushes Something Special with the 130.
sorry guys can i get a translation of MH and DID and KID?

oh yes! you should totally snap a picture of your look for us! :)

Here's a quick couple of shots I managed to nab as I went out the door!

I used my regular foundation, just applied with fingers as I was in a hurry, then pink cult blush with painterly as a base and stovepipe as a crease colour on the eye blended out! I hope its okay to put a couple of shots here!
