I have hooded lids and it took me a while to figure out what was up to do a nice line, but once I figured out the trick, I do best with fluidlines, compared to liquid liners. Take a look at this picture:
See how when the eye is closed, the top edge of the wing actually looks like a straight, flat line? In this picture it's almost straight and flat, with just the tiniest upturned angle, but you see it's going straight out from the point where the hooding or downward folding of the lid begins. The under edge of the wing is more rounded, but when the eye is closed you see the line doesn't just go diagonally down to the lash line. it sticks out straight past the hooded point and only goes diagonal below the hooding point. When the eye is open, it looks like a very different shape. You have to draw an almost horizontal line out from the hooded point, then fill and round the outer edge of the wing, while building the inner line down to meet the lash line. Easier to show than to describe, but this is the way to make the wing look smoothly diagonal when your eyes are open - it's a bit of an optical illusion.
