I need swatches! This is coming up so soon. And I feel like there hasn't been much press at all!

Agreed! Can't believe this will be at counters in just a couple of weeks! We're already almost out of collections we have info about...is this year flying or what??

Do we think these are going to sell out quickly, or think we'll have time before everything is gone?

Not till 4-3, it's just they got them in early

Sorry, today was super hectic and it's so late and I should be in bed.

Suffice it to say: this formula isn't exactly like Huggables in a pencil, but it has some advantages over Huggables - fantastic form factor, super buildable opacity, lots of pigment in really cute adorable colors. Where it differs is - Huggables are more moisturizing, Huggables created a very smooth layer on my lips that sort of erases lip lines, while these are clingier and won't hide lip lines if they're there. If you have smooth lips, though, you will be able to get a finish that's like amazing glass perfection. Doesn't seem like there will be a ton of product to use in each pencil, especially if you want to layer it on heavily. Patentpolish is also a bit grippier and clingier on the lips than Huggables, so a little less comfortable (then again Huggables are unusually comfortable, so they're already beyond the norm there).

I've gotta sleep right now but I'll talk more tomorrow - also, I was in such a rush, I didn't get to try every color on my lips, but I did swatch everything and am going to go back and try the rest of them on Sunday or Monday. The hand swatches I made are not far from what they will look like on the lips, though, because most of the colors are very opaque, even in one pass. The few that are a little sheerer are easily made opaque. Very unique finish too - it's like a glossier Kissable Lip Color effect (mind you, they don't feel like Kissables, but the finish is rather similar when it's on the lips, just with more wet-look. They don't look wet like gloss does, though…it's a pretty unique finish - what it reminds me of the most is if you took a Casual Color, slathered it heavily on your lips, rather than patting it on, and mingle it with a little more glossiness. They feel a bit stiffer, compared to Huggables which had more slip.

OK gotta sleep now - the color range is really nice, with some shades that are almost Huggable dupes but mostly brand new colors that are a little more fun. I'd say it's a battle between young person lips (patentpolish) vs. old people lips (Huggables), especially when you factor in the colors and the form factor, which is super fun in the Patentpolish and a little more conservative in the form factor of the Huggables (if that makes any sense).

This is definitely a fun time product. The self sharpening is brilliant too - packaging is very slick.
Thank you, Liba! Sounds like these are a glossy version of my beloved Bite Beauty lip pencils, so I might have to get a couple. Looking forward to the full Liba Report!!

Liba, thanks for the quick-yet-informative review. I'll wait for your full review, but I think I might end up skipping this collection after all. I prefer something that makes my lips feel soft and look smooth.

Thanks, Liba. Think these are a skip for me. My beef with twist up pencil lippies is how little product there is in them and it sounds like these are no different.

It would be tough to beat the Huggables formula for me. I had a great surprise when I went into the very busy MAC store near my office the other day. I was just in to pick up a brush cleanser when I noted that there were a few Huggable tubes by the lippie display. The display is long gone, but they usually move testers when they're sold out. I was thrilled to find out that they got a few of most of the Huggables this week (this particular store often seems to get the last dregs of collections from MAC Canada) so I scooped up three more (Cherry Glaze, Fashion Force and Love Beam). Those will be my summer brights, so I don't feel the need to experiment with the pencils, particularly if they're clingy. Pass.

The Huggables is an amazing formula and does some things I really appreciate in a daily lipstick. Meanwhile, I did not care for their finish in the bright colors like Love Beam - the brights combined with the texture were just too busy looking for me. I skipped most of them. I don't even wear my Commotion much, compared to the neutrals like Touche and Fresh & Frisky. The brights and pastels in this collection look amazing, though - really adorable and saturated. It's a more suitable texture for those sorts of colors - sort of a glossy liquid lipstick effect, rather than the half-balm, slippy Huggable effect. It's very modern looking and sort of minimalist. All the MUAs were much crazier about these pencils than the Huggables, which surprised me, but then again, these are something really newer than them, so it makes sense.

I do say try one in a store. For me, even though I only liked the Huggables in neutrals and a couple of the deeper colors, I love every single color in this collection and am going to buy them all. I don't think their formula is less quality than Huggables at all, but you can't go into them expecting the skincare factor the Huggables have. These are for pigment and for gloss. Like I was saying before, the closest thing I can compare it to are the Kissables, but in a smooth, lightweight and patent-finish pencil. No greasiness, or feathering or slip with these and very very easy to apply.

@liba I cant wait to hear your wonderful descriptions. You could be a writer, i can describe things decent, but you really know how to get the vision across!!!! And i share a lot of the opinions on items i have heard u discuss, so im so happy your gonna go see them. Im so jealous too tho hehe. Im sooooo curious to hear about these!!! Could be my next fave thing ever like huggables are. and i only got four of the eight i wanted. so maybe u can help save me from underbuying before its too late!

I like the Huggables in both brights and neutrals. I now have six (Out For Passion, Fresh & Frisky and Rusty from my original purchase in December and now Cherry Glaze, Fashion Force and Love Beam). I'm powering through Out For Passion alarming quickly but they didn't get that one in or I might have backed it up - it's my favourite to date. I can already tell that I like FF better than F&F - I like that it's got more colour. Cherry Glaze is also gorgeous - almost sheer but so still bright and fresh looking. It will look great with my favourite summer navy and white polka dotted dress. I just love these.

I don't like uber bright or neon lippies on me - I feel like they're wearing me. So these kind of shades are great - I'm not a pink person generally but I know I'll wear Love Beam a ton this spring and summer. In the spring I start to prefer glosses and sheerer finishes to 'heavy' lipstick. The three I bought on Thursday will be great for that. Longer lasting than Narcissus, Fever Isle or my other beloved CSGs but light and appropriate for the season.

I never tried the KIssables. I'll check these out but I'm likely to skip since I BTM'd for Heavenly Hybrid and Dreaming Dahlia and now have a heap of Huggables and untouched CSGs to enjoy.

omg I didn't save enough money for this collection...
yeah it's going to be rough for me to pass on even one, this time…although I still need to go back and try them all on my lips. I didn't manage to try them all on the other day. At NC15, ll these colors work really well for me…a couple might be on the light side if your skin tone is deep, considering this is a formula that is pretty solidly opaque for most of them. I feel a lot of them will either work or won't work as is, rather than adapt to your natural coloring due to sheerness.

There are a few shades that are very close to some Huggable colors:
Revved Up is very close to Fresh & Frisky (this is the only one I tried so far on my lips that I thought the Huggable was a better match for). There's another that looks close to Out for Passion - Pleasant- but I didn't try that one on yet.

Teen Dream and Go For Girlie are beautiful and bright…very bright, actually. Teen Dream is very much in the Sushi Kiss and Sweet Grenadine sheen supreme department, sort of a cross between the two with a touch more Sweet Grenadine. I love colors like that and it works great in this formula, super saturated with that moist finish. Go For Girlie is also super, it's very much like Betty Bright - a touch pinker, like BB mixed with Flamingo.

Innocent is lighter than Touché and more beige, but I found it very flattering on my skin tone and again, the texture suits the color really well. It won't be for people who don't like a pure nude lip, though, and will look very light on darker skin tones. It's the one that looks the sheerest when swatching on your hand, and on the lips, I felt it looked best on me with an extra layer, but it definitely covers up all the red in my pigmented lips.

Kittenish and Patentpink were everything I was hoping they'd be. Soft but with some brightness but not with those white undertones that can make pastels look chalky. Unlike so many versions of colors like these, they don't go milky or settle unevenly. These (and all the colors) apply super duper evenly - definitely one of the characteristics of this newfangled formula. Not a single shade is patchy, even Sultana. Patchiness is just not a factor here, either with one layer or built up. Both of these colors are in the same level of brightness and lightness, but the lavender comes out quite well in Kittenish. It doesn't read purple, though…it's more pink than Evening Stroll, but it's still got a little of it in there. I didn't like What a Feeling! on me - something about the cast of the color combined with the finish, but Kittenish looked great and I preferred the finish which reads a little more subdued.

Sultana was one I didn't get to try on yet. It looks really brownish in the pencil, but swatched on the hand, it loses that. On the hand, one layer seemed very much on the warm side, but as you built it up, it became more evenly balanced between warm and cool. It's definitely in the purplish plum vampy department, rather than wine or berry, but again, it's not PURPLE, there is some red in the mix. It's as dark as Yung Rapunxel (and it reminded me of it, but it still needs the lip test for that). I need to try it on for sure, but I was just trying on the lighter colors, since I always go from the lightest to the darkest when I try a ton of lippies on. If you have a lot of vampy colors, you will probably have something similar, but not in this unusual finish.

I didn't try Berry Bold yet, but one look at it on my hand and I said "OK good, THAT is a good red for me". It's an orangey red, but it reads RED, not orange. It's not crazy bright like Scarlet Ibis. The Huggable reds didn't flatter me, but I'm betting this one is going to be perfect.

Spontaneous may wind up being a perfect MLBB for me and for many people with more heavily pigmented lips. It's not a flashy as some of the others, but once it gets on my lips, I have a feeling it's going to be "Hello, where have you been all my life". It does not run brown at all! It's cooler than Sultana (as well as being not nearly as dark, of course), but it's got red in there - it won't read bluish. I'm really looking forward to trying it out and won't be surprised if it turns into the sleeper hit that you wind up effortlessly wearing all the time for all sorts of situations. It's going to probably read as more "mature" on pale NWs, though. I'd test it in person if you are NW10 or NW15, because it'll probably go really vampy and maybe aging on a skin tone like that, the way Private Party looked really different on many people. It's not as brown as PP, though, so it will be a little more wearable for the NW crowd. It's a try before you buy if you fit in that category, though.

I have to give Fearless and Hopelessly Devoted a little more careful observation. They're pretty common colors we've seen from MAC a lot (and usually not the ones I gravitate towards, even though they usually look really good with my green eyes - I guess I wore these shades to death for so many years, I rebelled against them). They will drive you Team Fuchsia people silly, though, because even if you have a ton of these shades, I bet you won't have any in this kind of finish. There weren't even any Kissables in this department, so yeah, definitely worth a look.

all in all, the color range here is more youthful than the Huggables and the texture really suits the colors to a T. Like I was saying, it's pretty doubtful I will pass on any of them, although I could possibly see myself skipped Revved Up, since I've got that one in a few other formulas I think work even better (being sheerer) and perhaps HD and F, as I was saying. I'm not quite sure yet about back ups. I think it will be pretty easy to run out - seems like a formula that could be easily run through quickly. The lasting power is good, but I didn't get to test that too well because I had lunch after and wiped my lips off before I ate. I don't mind eating with many types of lipstick, but I really do not like to eat with gloss and these definitely touched that same nerve with me. You can't really blot them down to the point where they feel like they won't mingle with your food.

yeah it's going to be rough for me to pass on even one, this time…although I still need to go back and try them all on my lips.

You can't really blot them down to the point where they feel like they won't mingle with your food.
omg team fuchsia feeling excited over here omg!!!!!!!!! thanku liba for the awesome description im so pumped about these omg. i think they will sell out so damn quick!
