MAC - Peacocky discussion

I think Mac's put out too many collection in a short period of time so a lot of people are kinda fed up and a little overdosed on Mac. I've also heard cosmetics and especially new collections aren't selling that well after the holidays (at least in here) because people are going crazy with the clothes and other big sales. Money's short too after the Christmas shopping. And for people who don't follow Mac or read reviews and just buy things occasionally, the KL probably doesn't seem like anything special. Collectors are probably waiting for Wonder Woman.

I want to buy 3 or 4 eyeshadows and maybe 2 lipcolors, but right now, my miscellaneous budget is going toward other items. I'm happy that most of the stuff hasn't sold out. If it is still around next month, I will pick up some items.

Hopefully, MAC will start spacing out the collections.

I did some more playing today with this collection, and ended up going to class in this crazy blue look!!! It was fun, though :)

This is what I had on my eyes:

UDPP
Siahi Fluidline all over lid
Odalisque all over lid, bottom middle
Dandizette outer third and crease, bottom outer edge
Dalliance brow highlight, inner corner/1/3 and bottom inner edge
Black Swan Pearglide on waterline
Lancome Artliner in Black
Lancome Definicils Mascara in Black

OMG Odalisque over Siahi is soooo gorgeous!!! I'm sure it would also be gorgeous as a base for a deep blue smokey eye with Dandizette as the main lid colour too! I'm hoping to place an order for the Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy in the near future, and I'm interested to see how it will affect all the colours - thanks for the tip, ladies!
I tried to take these pictures in natural lighting, but it is is so hard to capture their vibrancy on camera - they literally glow!

I know some people found that these colours weren't unique enough to their personal collections or they preferred the textures of some higher end brands, but I am so in love with them and so happy that my purchases will last me years because they're supersized! :) And can I just say how much I LOVE that Dalliance works well with every colour in this collection?! It seems to morph and take on the characteristics of the colours it's placed with - sooo cool!

Let me know what you think! Would you have the guts to rock this kind of look everday? I know I don't, it's definitely a bit much for the classroom as teacher, but it was fun for a change, and I could get away with it because today was a student day for me! :) I also found this colour combo emphasizes the difference in colour between my eyes (one is more hazel/brown, the other more hazel/green), buuuut I figure no one's looking that closely at my eyes during the day!

hey guys, my eyes are now finally healed so I wore a buncha the Peacocky products out last Saturday night (date night with hubby) and though I share a pic:

Woo Me is on the lips, Prance, Unflappable on the eyes (+ NYX Black)

This collection was a great haul for me. I'm now going back into no-buy until Spring :D

I'm experiencing a weird feeling that I have never felt before when it comes to makeup: guilt. I feel almost guilty about buying so much of this collection. I bought about 95% of it. I think the guilt is from the things that I either don't love or am kinda "meh" on. As I said before, Prance just doesn't work on me outside the inner eye or brow and today I tried Top of the Posh and I was a little disappointed. It kinda reminded me of Nanogold on my eyes. It has a sheen to it that made it look kinda gold. I wanted something that was solidly pale pink. Woo Me and So Vain are ok, but I didn't need them. I definitely got carried away. I'll suck it up, though and there isn't anything I want to stomp on and set fire to. My absolute hits here, though are Peacocky, Flaunting It, Exxxhibitionist and Vanity Fair lip colours and Dalliance shadow. Mickey Contractor was a much smaller collection, but I am actually happier and more excited about that one.

Lou - thanks sweetie, I'm so happy I can wear makeup again and even happier I don't need my contacts anymore :)

Shontay - don't worry about a big haul. I had a bigger haul from this collection than expected (though smaller than urs). But my days of buying a tone of LE stuff are waaaay behind me so this is a rare occurance. So I say enjoy your stuff and think of all the ways you can incorporate the new products into your existing stash.

Oh and Singer82, this is how I wore Spectacle of Yourself yesterday (plus Saffron from MC in the crease and Dark Diversion f/l to line). As I mentioned, it brings out the different shades in my eyes so I loove it!

K, I'm done hijacking this thread! Hope everyone has a great day

Shadowy Lady - I love your look with SoY and Saffron. So pretty! Saffron looked much redder on me I couldn't use it as a crease color. But now I'm thinking of getting SoY hehe..

I hope I can keep a cool head when this collection finally on sale in Germany. I think I should actually be glad it comes in February since I'm flat broke after my vacation.

I have been using Saffron with this collection also. I use it over Centre Stage and in the crease with Dandizette. I love that color!

I wore Noir Plum today over Chilled on Ice paint pot. The glitter from the paint pot really showed through! It brought a whole new dimension to Noir Plum!
Madly Personal pigment in the crease! (sorry about my eyebrows) So impressed with Mega Metals!

I know what you mean. It takes away from the general joy of playing with makeup when you feel like you spent too much or even that you don't love all that you got. That is why I eventually just had to sell, swap or give away stuff that I wasn't using because I hated to even see it. Honestly if you feel this way about some of the products now, they will never see the light of day once the next great collection comes along. I would just return the items you don't love. More money for Wonder Woman and other upcoming collections, but that's just me.

You guys all look fabulous in these shadows!

And don't feel badly about the purchases. I was starting to feel badly until I tried them on the mature woman the other day and
realized that I did not make a bad choice.

As a makeup artist, I wanted to have them in my kit. They are easy to use, blendable, and large sized so I can use them
all at once..

I can not use most MAC regular shadows so this is a great break for me- shadows I can use on me and others if I need to.

Also, did I mention that they are great over Too Faced Shadow insurance CANDLELIGHT?

That has a lovely gold sheen...Esp good with top of the posh.

Hey gals - have a few great looks to report:

Flaunting It is such a fabulous color. 'Wore it on its own with an exaggerated cat's eye - On the Hunt Superslick for the upper lid line winged out dramatically (but thin, not too wide) with Feline on lower lashline smudged in to meet the upper line plus waterline. Chez Chez Lame on cheeks. No foundation, no mascara, no other highlight on the eyes. Hair up in a bun with a severe black straight skirt, top and ankle boots.

Seriously, Flaunting It is a perfect foil to a strong cat eye - looks soft and modern and much newer than a pale flesh or pink lip.

Also, Peacocky worn under Gimme That! Dare to Wear l/g makes a wild metallic magenta/purple color with an irridescent shimmer. Wore that with Dangerous Cuvee up to the eyebrows and smudgey slick Black GPS lining eyes and I had men young enough to be my sons and old enough to be my dad staring at me - lol. Noir Plum or Dandizette would have been good on the eyes with these lips too.

Even still, I will have to say that you have to sort of throw out the old rulebook with this collection for it to look at its best. For the subtle color and texture of the lip colours, you really have to keep the color down on the face and the eyes need to use transparent textures, simplified color schemes and either strong raw liner or no liner. Otherwise the colors and texture of the lips sort of lose their impact and turn a little bland and insipid. Same thing with the shadows - they really look best either used one color at a time, blended from opaque to sheer on different parts of the eye, or else in very simple color combinations blended out to transparency, plus they wind up looking a little "meh" with heavy shiny lipstick or thick glosses.
