MAC - Peacocky discussion

Hi girls!

I know this is probably somewhere in this thread but there is so much to go through, so i'm sorry if this is a repeat question (which is probably is), but how are you guys applying these shadows? I absolutely *love* them, but I've tried using (I think) my 239 brush, and my finger, and it seems like my finger is working better but it still seems like they should be going on more easily or smoother. Its kinda hard to describe. Anyway, I was wondering how your applying them??

Thanks so much!

what colors? Some of the colors are smoother than others. I use the MAC 242 to put them on and then I use my 217 or Crown Brush C139 to buff. With Centre Stage, I just use the 217. I work with Ego, Dandizette, and Centre Stage. SoY is one of the smoothest out the bunch.

^^I've been getting good results using just about everything... the 239, the 217 (which is AWESOME for blending these!)... are you using a primer underneath? I also find I get the best colour pay-off by patting these in and then blending rather than swiping them on. Anyone else?

Thanks all who chimed in on the base vs no base question. I think I'm going to try with my uddp first since it ould help any other shadow I'm using with look and last better. :)

Tapping then blending with a 239 has worked for me to. I dont really use a primer during the day, but I always blend some foundation on my lids and they still stay put pretty well.
And Hilde, your avatar is so adorable!

They are a match made in heaven. BOA goes great with Exxxhibitionist, Viva Cyndi and Toxic Tale. Glad I got that blush because I was definitely going to pass. I don't know what I was thinking. Fighting the hype, I guess.

Thank you so much for your suggestion, shontay! I really have to try this! I love Viva Glam Cyndi so much!

Off Topic: My first trip to a CCO. That Woodbury Commons CCO was such a letdown. They had damn near nothing and most of what they had I already own or really, really didn't want. Having said that, I spent $100(

) on lipglass and lipstick. I was on the hunt for shadows, blushes and brushes, though. Next time, I will go to the one in Jersey. My friend just knew Woodbury would be awesome.
I went to a CCO for the first ever recently as well in Seattle and they had a small selection but I managed to find items I really wanted such as Flurry of Fun, Loving touch, solar bits, and holiday kits. I only spent $80 but felt like I got alot. I was so excited to see MAC for $10 bucks every item. hahaha. I also picked up Bough Grey which I retuned when the collection came out but this bough grey is soo much softer and I am convinced the one I returned was from a bad batch. I wish Canada had a CCO!!!

I feel like talking about Flaunting It yet again.....
th_worship.gif

I wore it last night with Plum Noir ringed around the eyes and blended all the way up to the brows, with Feline in upper and lower waterline and plenty of Haute & Naughty Lash. Briar Rose on the cheeks with a 'lil Chez Chez Lame highlighting. So soft and pretty, but also modern.

I just LOOOOVE Flaunting It so much. It's totally unusual, but it still reads soft, feminine and approachable. I already backed it up, but I'm so tempted to get an extra back-up (which is crazy, but this color just looks so perfect with NC15, green eyes and dark hair). If some evil makeup tyrant commanded me to get rid of all my Peacocky lippies except one, Flaunting It would have to be it. If the tyrant told me I could only have one lipstick for Spring, I'd pick it too. If the tyrant was being extra evil and demanding I only have one lipstick till the end of the summer, I'd be sad I'd have to pass on whatever amazing bright orange comes down the pike, but I'd still choose Flaunting It. Such a great color - it's like it sprang out of an alternate dimension where only the most perfect makeup colors exist.

I just wanted to try few things so I know how they perform before I go crazy with my haul and it seems I'll be going completely nuts with this one. Got Woo Me, Strut Your Stuff, Exxxhibitionist and Paparazz-She and I want more, NOW! Everybody's raving about the creaminess of the eyeshadows but these kissable feel like chocolate pudding on my lips. I'll test the staying power today and if it's good, I can say goodbye to my money.

Woo Me is the perfect nude for me and it's opaque enough to cover my natural lip shade so I'm in love. Did anybody compare this with Innocence Beware? I was going to but got too excited and had to come here first

Strut Your Stuff is the perfect bright red and I love how it stays bright on my lips. This is how I wanted Heartless l/s to look on my lips but it was way darker.

Exxxhibitionist is more orangey-coral when I apply a thin layer (reminds me of Made to order) but more I layer, more coral it gets and now I've let it sit for a while and it's more red-coral, almost like toned down Toxic Tale.

Paparazz-She is Firespot to me. I don't care if they're not exact dupes but it's just how I pictured Firespot in my head. It's gorgeous!

Liba, I want to see pictures of it on your lips now!!! I'm still not convinced I can pull Flaunting It off, but it looks so pretty in the tube!
love.gif

Nunu, it really might be easier to get them all. LOL! The stand-out must haves for me were Dalliance, Top of the Posh and Spectacle of Yourself, and I've heard lots of raving about Tweet Me, Papparazz-she and Unflappable, although I didn't pick those three up. I also got Dandizette, Ego, Odalisque and Noir Plum, and I love them to bits, but I think they're less "everyday" or versatile colours so you can live without them :) Only get what you're sure you're going to use!

Keijukainen, I'm so glad you love your stuff! :) Here's a swatch of Woo Me and Innocence, Beware!:

Innocence Beware, Woo Me

On me, IB seems 2-3 shades lighter and slightly pinker than Woo Me, in addition to the difference in texture and finish. They are very similar, though, which is good, because I love them both and don't ever want to be without them!!
love.gif

I'm totally going back for more from this collection, even though I already bought 7 shadows and 2 lippies - I need back-ups of my lippies plus a couple more colours (I'm thinking Temper Tantra, Scandelicious and Vanity Fair), and I'd love to pick up Centre Stage, Paparrazz-she, Unflappable and Sexpectations! Ugh.... that WW MSF had better disappoint!

That's exactly what I thought when I tried Woo Me, it's definitely more beige and a little darker than IB on my lips. After an hour or so Woo Me turned a little pinker and the shimmer really came through more. I don't like that many nudes on me but I love IB and Woo Me, there's enough pink in them so they don't wash me out.

I did a look today with Evening Aura, Paparazz-She and Sugarpill's Poison Plum. Oh and Dark Diversion as a liner (finally got mine yay!). When I put Poison Plum over Paparazz-She on my crease, it turned into burgundy, almost the same shade as Dark Diversion but a little plumier. Very unexpected but so pretty!

Exxxhibitionist is a shade that brightens up my dull winter skintone and somehow even makes my eyes look bluer. Paparazz-She on eyes and Exxxhibitionist on lips really made my eyes pop

I want Flaunting It so bad now! I wanted to get it with my CP first but I was worried it can look too gray on my lips. Any thoughts on how it compares to Blooming Lovely l/s?

I think Flaunting it is deeper then Blooming Lovely, which in my opinion makes it more wearable. I love it! I'm NW20 for reference:)

I LOVE the Exxxhibtionist/ Paparazz-She combo - looks so warm and rich. The others I like best with Exxxhibitionist are Odalisque and Dandizette (which I still need to get - just trying to hold out to be sensible, hehe).

Flaunting It isn't even in the same ball-park as Blooming Lovely, as far as I'm concerned. It has no milky whiteness to it at all. It's warmer and also grey-er, and a much softer effect.

Yeah, me too! Although I am not the patient type, so I already got Sexpectaions off ebay and it arrived today

I would buy nearly all of the eyeshadows and some more of the lipcolours, if they were not that expensive here.
My must haves at the moment are: Dandizette, Mating Call, Tweek me ,Odalisque. Lipcolours I will most likely get Woo me, Exxxhibitionist and Scandelicious.
If I could afford I would also get: Dalliance, Specktacle of Yourself, Center Stage, Ego, Flaunting it, Temper Tantra, Super and Enchante.
