I don't think it will cover much redness. Try the yellow primer or the set powder in Soft Yellow instead.
I think in my MA's case, he has just the right combination of skin texture and redness together that gives him such good results with the skin smoother. It's not going to cover like a primer, but it's certainly got a great veiling effect that can be more more natural looking overall. It certainly doesn't have such a pronounced effect on my skin. It's worth checking out, though. Maybe it'll be just the right thing.

It might be a matte "illusion." :)

I picked up the compact yesterday. What are your favourite techniques and brushes for applying it?

I'm wondering if the compact is pretty much the same thing as my L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Smoothing Resurfacing Primer. That really works well for me, and it does disguise some of the redness in my cheeks, as well as vastly improving the look of the large pores around my cheekbone area. It makes my skin feel so smooth, too.

Are the primers or bases in this collection better than the traditional ones by MAC? I have never had good luck with MAC primers. They make me look sickly & sallow.

I dare to say that they are a huge improvement from previous primers (pre-2010). There is a lot of new technology and knowledge in these primers. I just wish that MAC would provide a better description of the primers. A lot of consumers seem to be confused about how (and why) to use these primers; a lot of this can be blamed on the marketing language that does not do a very good job at explaining the benefits of the products.

If you have dry skin, you'll love the MI serum (in combination with your regular moisturizer); if you have oily skin, it might still be a very good choice, in which case you probably won't need a separate moisturizer.

The compact is great to even out your skin texture in a very natural way as it dries down to a satin-matte. Again, if you have dry skin, for example on your cheeks, this will help to bring out the colors of your blush/highlighter. I'm not sure if I would use it for touch-ups during the day; probably not, but that's just me.

Hi guys. I got the compact and I can't seem to get it to work for me. I love the prep and prime range and have never had a problem with any of the products so I think it's something I am doing wrong. I put on my prep and prime skin enhancer in illuminate. I then apply the compact to my cheeks where I have large pores using the 190 brush. I give it a few seconds and then continue in with my foundation. The problem is that my foundation appears to ball slightly now and my foundation looks matte and dry even tho I use face & body or studio sculpt. My skin has been acting up while I am pregnant so maybe that's why its acting weird but any application techniques you have would really be appreciated

It sounds like you are using too much product, which could be partially due to the 190 as you have less control. Try it with the 191 brush. It's more flimsy, which works really well with this type of product.

I had a hard time figuring out the compact initially-first I was slathering it on with my fingers, then I tried to use the 190 with it. One of our trainers suggested to massage it into the skin with my fingertips and to use less product and voila! Perfect!

Ummmm and can we talk about the Moisture Infusion? It is LOVE-I've been using it on everyone, for serious. I have combination skin with a VERY oily t-zone and I was really hesitant to try it out at first-but it absorbs so quickly and makes my skin super soft and smooth.

For any Studio Tech fans out there-try mixing one pump of the MI in with your foundation-it's amazing! It blends so beautifully-works with any foundation of course, but the most dramatic improvement has got to be with Tech.

I have to say, Prime Future has become my favorite collection as of late (and I was flipping over Extra Dimension at first!)...both of the products just work so well on almost all skin types and make the skin look so smooth and perfect!

Can anyone compare the compact to the MSF Natural? I have been using the latter for setting powder but it looks a little too powdery for me. What I would really love is soemthing the consistency of a Beauty Powder that just melts and becomes invisible over my foundation...which is what the BP will do if they ever make one that matches my skin tone...

It's not really for that - it's more of an emollient retexturizer and plumper for underneath your primers/foundation.

Have you tried Careblend powder? It's a tinted powder, not a setting powder technically, but it has that beautiful, melting into the skin quality. I usually wear it on its own, rather than over foundation, but then again, I don't wear foundation all the time. A little Careblend is usually all I need for a nice fresh finish (if I'm not using Elude, which is my HG BP so far - now that I've gotten some sun, Elude's going on vacation and it's back to Careblend in Light for my NC15 Spring face)

Love your suggestion for the MI with foundation. Will this technique give me a dewier look? Thanks for the help.

I used to use Benefit's Dr. Feelgood under my bare minerals and it worked great. If this is similar to that I think it would work very well.
I have very large pores on my nose so when I use my Bare Minerals Foundation, the powder tends to get stuck in the pores as the day goes on

. How does the compact work for filling/hiding pores as a primer before foundation?

that comes in a compact? I am confused, I thought it was more of a powder that sort of makes everything matte--weird. I would try Careblend Light.

It's a gel/cream/emollient product in compact form. It's not a powder. Try it if you can. I have a feeling you might like it.

I have this problem with my foundation getting into the creases that go from the outside of my nose down to the corners of my mouth (i hope this makes any sense). If that happens it makes me look older and i don't like that. Does the skin smoothing compact help with this problem?

It might help a bit to fill in nasolabial folds, though as there is so much movement in this area of the face, it's really hard to fix with a product.
