MAC - Prolongwear Discussion

I might try the concealer and foundation when I run out of my HGs so far - Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer and Clarins Everlasting Foundation. Lippie-wise, Overtime and Unlimited are really nice colours, but I've only been wearing regular MAC lipsticks (Cremesheens, Lustres and one Frost, Angel) for about a year and I'm afraid these might not be moisturising enough for me. Maybe with lip balm? Would over or under be better?

I was a bit cheesed off about the lack of nw15, then I remembered 1) NW15 is usually too dark for me anyway 2) I haven't been able to make a liquid foundation work for me since my HG liquid foundation was discontinued 15 years ago.

I have yet to find a concealer that helps my dark circles without making my eyes look puffy so I kind of gave up.

I think I want the purple lipstick, but will need to see it in person to be sure. The swatches aren't convincing me.

I would say under

. Some people put balm on first and then lightly pat the excess off. Hope it does work out for you!

So I've now tested the foundation and the concealer for few more days. The foundation might be the best foundation I've tried from Mac (I haven't yet tried the Mineralize foundation compact that came out this year), although I must say Mac foundations have never been better than average to me. But this is good improvement! The concealer was quite nice for my undereye area, I still love moisturecover but since that is discontinued this could be an alternative.

The foundation is quite sticky to apply and blend. I use Charged Water to wet my brush (I place the foundation with 190 to forehead, cheekbones, nose and chin and blend it out with EnKore stipple&swirl brush, which is excellent for this) and then blend it, that makes a huge difference when the brush is moist. Skin must be very very well moisturized with this one. I have normal skin, but even then this foundation can make skin look dryer than it is in some areas, so I cannot stress moisturizing the skin enough. When that is taken care of, the results are nice. Also I recommend a good primer underneath. All in all, I quite like this one which is rare when it comes to Mac foundations. I will buy the full size jar.

The concealer glides on skin more nicely than the foundation. It's very easy to apply under eyes and it looks really good there. The key is to use a very fine milled loose powder to set it, like Mac Prep&Prime. Usually I can set my undereye concealer with MSFN, but this concealer it can look cakey with that. I will buy the full size concealer too, atleast one for undereyes and maybe another shade for other parts of the face too.

So I'm liking these so far!

I went and got matched in the Pro Longwear foundation today. The MA applied a full face of NW20 foundation and concealer on me, so I could wear it for the rest of the day to try it out.

First of all I am not so sure of the color match - since my face doesn't match my neck, which doesn't match my body, which doesn't match my face, I don't really know what I should try to match in foundation. As it was, with the NW20, I felt like my face and chest looked like pretty much the same color, but I had a very clear foundation line on my jawline and my neck looked yellow compared to my face.

As for the formula: Since I am not used to wearing liquid foundation I sprayed some fix+ on my face when I got home to make it feel less heavy. After a while I noticed my face was feeling sticky. I was able to make it feel normal again by powdering it over, but this still seems strange to me.

But after that it has stayed on well for the rest of the day.

I just realized that I was too tired to put on any makeup today before work...it would be a good time to swing by the Pro store to try out this line...but I gotta go to the post office...but that can wait till tomorrow...oh decisions!

I have similar issues (face, chest/neck/decolletage, arms) are all different colors! In winter they will all be pastey again though! Glad to know it still stayed on after fix.

On a related note, I gotta get the purple lippy!

no it doesn't, but it does control surface oil.

under. this will, however, affect the longwearability of the lipstick.

as i stated in my first post on these, DON'T USE FIX+ (or charged water)!!! this totally changes the consistancy and wearability of the foundation.

It would be nice if you didn't scream please. I went back and searched your first post in this thread because I don't remember every post written here, and it did not say anything about fix+ or cw. And if these work for some people, like cw works for me with this foundation, they can be used.

i'm sorry. i didn't mean to scream. i guess i should've used bold letters instead of capitals. obviously typing can come accross differently to everyone, and i wasn't meaning to scream.

as far as using fix +, i thought i had posted that in the first post, but it must've been a later post. this is what we were told by our trainer, and i relayed the message so that everyone could get the most benefit from the foundation. yes, people can apply things however they want, so i guess my help and suggestions aren't needed.

thanks.

I thought that capitals with alot of !!! in internet discussions meant screaming, that's why I said so.

Suggestions are always good. But with experimenting, I found a better way to use this foundation and thought to share it. With CW it doesn't feel sticky and I don't feel it on my face like I do without the CW. Also it lasted better with it on me. Isn't that a good thing? Without CW I propably would've made a decision not to buy more. People can try it with and without other products and then decide how they feel about it.

I will probably buy the concealer (I'm a concealer addict

).
I'm also drawn to the lipsticks, I love creamy and pigmented lipsticks. But I haven't actually fallen in love with any particular color. I have to see more swatches.

I picked up Faithfully Yours today. It reminds me of an older LE shade called La La Lady that I used to have and (unwisely) got rid of. None of the other lip colours appealed to me particularly. I thought of trying the foundation, but if I'm going to get some, I'd rather wait until my skin goes back to its "normal" colour. I'm still a little sun-kissed.

Thankless job? Even with all the thanking? I don't think there's one person here who doesn't appreciate all the people that are making swatches and recommendations and info etc. They are appreciated widely so I don't get what is the problem here?

^ there is no problem unless you feel that there is one.. I was showing support to someone who helps me and others out a lot --and a mere hitting the "thanks" button does not really compensate the time and effort spent in providing info or posting pics and answering questions both on open forums or in pms.. if you feel that what I am now saying is a problem, then it does indeed become your personal problem.

everybody is appriciated here on specktra. even people that don't post swatches or reviews - it's just nice chatting to people with very similar passions

HerGreyness, I don't have a problem here, I was simply asking was there one I didn't understood. Maybe there is a language barrier or something?

There are so many people here who take time to swatch, review, help, write and so on who are appreciated equally, atleast in my mind. And just like Lou said, even those who don't swatch/review etc, it is nice to chat with everyone. I don't see any other members being thanked so much than HerGreyness and Erine in separate posts, and I think everybody who takes the time and effort to post helpful stuff here deserves the thanking too. But there is a thank-button just for that purpose, threads would be impossible to read, if everyone wrote a different post to thank everyone that did post a swatch. Or then there could be a thank you-thread separately.
