This product has been around since at least 1999. I use tto use it...though I found it must have dried or something because I was only able to use it by wetting it...as a liquid liner essentially. That was what I liked using at the time though, so it worked fine for me, and lasted ages.
I kept looking at it as though it looked familiar but I wasn't quite sure. I kept telling myself "I think I've seen that before". Shucks I think I may have owned it a long time ago as well.

I really love Marché aux Puces. I'm wearing it today full freight (very much like the blogger pictured above) with Dipdown liner. The orange (and it's definitely orange and not gold) is gorgeous.

I wanted to go with a SSish look although I didn't purchase very much of the collection. I used NARS Luster blush and Autumn Leaves lipstick; Sail La Vie would have been more in line with Fashion Nomad but I don't typically pair a bold lip with this kind of eye look.

My Camden Chic arrived in the mail today. Sadly, I will have to agree with you on this. I have never seen a mattene this creamy. GEEZ! I had mine on for about a couple of hours this evening when I was literally able to WIPE it off with a piece of tissue like it was lipgloss. Barely any stain left. Seriously. I am HIGHLY disappointed with this finish. Audrey, if Camden Chic is your first Mattene then please don't judge all of them based on this color. I own several and every other one I own is just as good and/or better than the NARS Pure Matte Lipsticks and comparable to the MAC Satin finishes. This is just ridiculous!! AND I used it on top of the Prep + Prime and I think it makes the 'slippage' even worse. I have never seen anything like it.

On top of that, the color really isn't all that great on me. I tried wearing it first with Current Lip Liner then Chestnut. I think it is a little too close to my skin tone so it really doesn't stand out at all. Looks kind of blah. I've had this problem before though with colors like Paramount and Photo. They don't do anything on me. I have discovered that with my skintone, colors need to either be sheer, vibrant, or deep dark (like a brown I look better in is Underworld). Colors that are more 'muted' or mid-tone just don't stand out to me and MAC costs too much for me not to have a color that is going to pop. Looks like I will have to return it. *sigh*

I don't feel too bad though. It means I can hopefully get the Styleseeker nail polish which is quite lovely sooner than I thought.

I also went to the mall and picked up Worldly Wealth blush. Now that is a beautiful color and nothing like I own. Comes off kind of a champagne color on my skin.
I'm sorry that you don't like yours, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't like this lippie. I applied it hourly yesterday when I was trying it out. It feels like lip balm on me and it doesn't leave a stain or last. I normally get hours of wear from MAC satins/mattes/amplified lippies. I've tried it with different liners, primer, translucent powder on top...I'm not happy with any of them.

I'm tempted to return it too because I think it's so bad - hardly worth the effort for the cost of shipping here though. I won't buy another of these - I'm disappointed because I've developed high expectations for MAC lippies.

I think it's been around even longer than that. LOL

I like it for tight-lining.

Yeah, it is really ashamed. And I don't blame you for wanting the avoid the hassle of a return. I was debating that myself. If I had back2MAC for this (like we used to be able too!

) then I would have made do, obviously. But, like a lot of ladies and gents on here, I don't have that type of money anymore to get makeup that I am not really going to wear.

I had also ordered Amsterdam from NARS (took advantage of the 20% off from Beauty.com. YES!) and it came in the mail today. Can't wait to try it on. It might not be as dark as I would like (I've already swatched this in person) but it is more red than Camden Chic so that should hopefully make it a little more vibrant. :)

But yeah, a MAC Mattene that doesn't even leave a stain? Unfathomable!

Interesting. I wonder if you and Mizani got defective tubes? My Camden Chic doesn't apply that creamy at all.

You know, that occured to me too. I tried calling MAC Canada but they closed today at 4:00. I've never had a MAC lippie that's this soft. It's ridiculously creamy and doesn't dry down once it's on so it stays that slippery. I have a couple of lustres (Fire Sign and Venus) and they aren't soft like this.

Maybe there is something wrong with this one. It doesn't make sense that everyone loves the formula and sings its praises when mine is like this. I'm sure I could spread this with a knife with no effort whatsoever.

I was thinking of Luster and Autumn Leaves with Marche aux Puces as well. Will try it soon.

LOL. Kinda figured it's been around a long time, but in truth I can't remember when I first bought it. It's telling though, I found out it existed when I saw a magazine cover photo of Courtney Cox...I'm telling you though, I must have got a dud, because mine was nothing I could ever refer to as 'creme'. Back then I didn't realize you could return faulty makeup!

My sister & I popped by our local MAC store today to check out the Style Seeker collex.

2 out of 4 of the shadow duets were sold out - MAP & Whims & Fancies.

I looked at the Camden Rouge tester and decided to pass. Lucky thing because it was sold out.

That store only received 3 Eden Rouge l/s and my sister and I both made off with one. It is a beautiful red.

I B2M for Ready to Roam lipglass and picked up Dark Diversion Fluidline as well, which is beautiful!

The MUA tried On the Hunt e/s on me but I decided to leave that at the store.

I decided to pass on Hidden Treasures blush. It is pretty but I received my La Femme blush order today so I'm gonna experiment with those.

All in all, not a bad haul today:

  1. Ready to Roam - B2M
  2. Eden Rouge - going into the makeup stash
  3. Dark Diversion - into stash until fall comes
  4. Redd l/p
  5. 224 brush - a new one

Style Seeker is a pretty collection - a nice mix of colors. I was surprised that Whims & Fancies sold out @ local MAC store.

The store had a model dressed up in gorgeous costume - I wish would have taken a picture.

The colors they had on her were outstanding!

Ok, I dropped by Macy's earlier checked out the collection. I intended to buy a lot more than what I did...My final haul was:

MAP
Hidden Treasure
Ready to Roam
Fashion Nomad

I already own:

C-Thru
Richground
Eden Rouge
Dark Diversion

I had intended to get all three blushes, local wares, and Eclectic Edge, but I haven't used Rivera Life from "Hey Sailor" and Avenue from "shop cook" yet so I passed on those. Supercontinental looked too similar to either Peaches or Peachykeen. Both of which I have. It wasn't a "must have" for me. Worldly Wealth looked more like format or light over dark so I passed on that too. Hey, at least I spent less money! lol. The artist that helped me had this BANGIN eye working. She combined MAP and culturalized and complimented it with black winged liner. It was gorgeous. She sold me on MAP with that eye. Culturalized is basically Brule and Romp so you really don't need that one. I thought MAP would be similar to paradisco and saddle, but boy was I wrong! It's totally different and worth having!

I agree MAP is the standout of the duos...glad I got my hands on one. I wore Worldly Wealth today with MAP and Camden Chic and it was a gorgeous warm look. I am not usually a fan of a dark lip, but I am going against the grain and saying how much I actually like Camden Chic..I will get a lot of wear out of it come fall. If you haven't swatched WW..try it out I think it is definitely different than Format and Light Over Dark (both of which I own).

Welcome to Specktra...you are gorgeous by the way :)

Sorry that CC did not work out. I did try it and it looked nice on me:

It applied creamy and I was pleased with how the color looked well on me. I did not buy Camden as I was hoping to find a better dupe at Sephora. (There is a promo for Sephora VIBs-- they get double points until the 26th.) It was a good thing I skipped it, as I wanted a more reliable formula and your posts revealed the opposite. Any suggestions, ladies and gents, for a decent dupe? (Thanx in advance!)

I'm surprised too. Maybe it's because it was the only neutral to cool shadow duo in the collection. Almost everything else is pretty warm. But then again some people were reporting low stock on this collection.

Yup! The store I went to did not get a lot of stock. They are having an event through out the weekend so here's hoping they will have enough. Plus, lots of things sold out yesterday.

Perhaps MAC is scaling back their Fall collections?

I keep thinking about last year's Fall releases: The Cindy Sherman Collection and MAC Me Over - how large those collections were.

Style Seeker is tame in comparison.

I agree that Whims & Fancies was the only neutral palette - which is interesting that there was one in the first place amidst all the warm shades.

Since Camden Chic sold out, the MUA put Potent Fig in its place.

I was surprised they still had some of those unless they received a new shipment? Interesting.
