I am back from the MAC counter!
After lots of swatching and cooing over the products, I stood firm and stuck with my list:
Gold Rebel, Sunsational, Purple Rite, Mercenary, Violet Fire, and Eversun (didn't buy this yet because I didn't like the packaging, I will be getting it 2nd hand at a cheaper price too!). I'm so proud of myself!
I will be considering Tribalist and Style Warrior though.
On to the review:
Nail Lacquers: Peaceable is very dupeable because it's such a common color, although it is pretty. Skip this is you're on a budget. Violet Fire is pretty sheer, I think it'll need 2 or 3 coats for the true color to show. MERCENARY IS DA BOMB! I wasn't sure about this color initially, but after swatching it on my nail I was literally drooling. Seems pretty pigmented too, which is always a plus.
I'm now considering a backup, and I also bought one as a birthday gift for my friend.
Solar Bits: These are super GLITTERY!! I thought they swatched rather grittily too, except for Impassioned. Impassioned was a gorgeous color.
Bronzers: Solar Riche was rather sheer, and it had a weird tone to it. Refined Golden is a nice brownish-goldish color. If I had to choose one, it would be Refined Golden. I really like the Golden Bronze loose powder though, it swatched very smoothly, but it is really shimmery and has a lot of sheen to it, so it's not going to look good on my oily complexion.
BPBs: Eversun is a bronze/peach color while On A Mission is a straight up plum color. I thought OAM looked kinda "dirty" when I swatched it on my hand.
Lipglasses:
Liberated: Sheer, but has more yellow in it than Goldyrocks. When swatched on hand, Goldyrocks is colorless with glitter particles, but Liberated actually has some color to it. It is slightly frostier looking too.
Gold Rebel: It's a nice gold color. It looks good when layered over Tribalist (pic below).
Fierce & Fabulous: Pretty dupeable color. I have Magnetique and Date Night, so it was a no-brainer for me to pass this one.
Style Warrior: It actually looks pretty good when swatched on my hand! I didn't have time to try it on my lips (the counter was jostling with people!), but I'm considering it.
Lipsticks:
Sunsational: It reminds of Bubbles, but the golden version of it. Very pretty color, I can't wait to try layering it over lippies!
Brave New Bronze: The tester lipstick was broken (wtf, it's only Day 1 of the launch). I didn't try it, but I'm not a big fan of Satins and I already have my HG nude lippie "Hug Me". The color was alright though nothing special. Pass.
Purple Rite: This looked sooo incredible natural on me, as though my natural lip color had purple undertones or something.
But it's a nice, wearable color, and I'm glad I bought it.
Tribalist: Too dark to be worn on its own, but with a gloss it's fabulous. Many people were checking this out (probably because of the unique color
), but they put it back in the end because they all found the color to be too dark. I'm considering this lippie as well, but I don't know how often I'd wear it though.
Did not check out the e/s and lustre drops because I wasn't considering them in the first place, plus the counter was getting crowded.
